I make no secret of the fact that I have had MANY (I think too many, but hey ho) personal defects of character over the years. Bad habits that have had me stuck in depression and self sabotage modes, some even lasting for years


I talk about it all so freely now because I am genuinely and legitimately free from all these character defects


I was fat
I binge ate
I was victim to a closed mind set
but there was one other thing....


.. I was also drunk... a lot.


Drinking and binge eating always went, for the most part, hand in hand as my coping mechanisms. For a lot of clients I work with it is not uncommon that weight gain comes about from several unwanted habits and isn't just isolated to overeating.


My clients share their stories with me.... We heal - we move mountains and lives are changed. I can facilitated this because I CHANGED.

Sometimes you just have to let yourself be shit at something and find it funny.

I see bits of kit and movements foreign to me All.the.time

You can’t expect to know how to do everything!!! And there is no growth in not ever trying to do something different… even if you get it wrong

So here is me… coach and a lifter of over nearly 2 decades.  Aformer power lifter who has NEVER used lifting straps, muddling her way through her session and catching myself doing that tounge sticking out thing I do to maximise concentration levels 😛

For well over 15 years I privately suffered a crippling eating disorder.


Stemming from a stint of severe dieting at the age of 14, I developed a binge eating disorder that plagued nearly every day of my life .


It was hell.


It was a habit - One I was reliant upon as a means of coping. 


If you struggle with a disordered pattern of eating - including chronic yo yo dieting and diet hopping, I'm going out on a limb here and betting that what you are fundamentally dealing with here is a habit and NOT trauma.


This means that the responsibility lies with you and only you to fix it. There is no quick fix - there is no miracle cure and there is no knight in shining amor... you are going to ACTUALLY have to do something different.

Some things require a certain amount of knowledge & gaining knowledge requires more than 10 seconds of attention I can grab from a person on an IG scroll sesh


At the ♥️ of it I'm a personal trainer, nutrition coach and mentor, truly interested in helping women demystify fat loss, free themselves from food prison, beat emotional eating AND gain the physique they have always wanted. 


As a woman who lost her teenage years and most of her 20's to a battle with binge eating disorder, depression and exercise/toxic relationship addiction, I genuinely want to help other women step into their brilliant capable powers and make a true difference in their lives.


I want to teach every one who falls upon my path about food science, how we work in relation to the food we are eating, behaviour management, exercise, personal values and appropriate, sustainable flexible ways of losing weight whilst strengthening their mind. I just cant do all that in a 2200 character count on a platform that glorifies bum shots and fitness influencers pushing supplements. 


I want to take the time to explain things fully, allow for nuances and critical thinking AS WELL as some entertainment. To give actionable tips and pointers and to create a resource that can be revisited and accessed for free.

You have not got a damaged metabolism, you've just ROYALLY pissed it off by spending the last 10 years dieting ineffectively 


Metabolism refers to all the chemical processes inside your body that allow life and normal functioning - maintaining normal function is called homeostasis


If your metabolism was broken, you would die ...yours may be a little/ a lot sluggish...


Here is why:


Think of metabolism as the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. 

energy = calories

You have a certain amount of calories you NEED in order to maintain homeostasis. Your body strives 4 homeostasis irrespective of what you want your butt to look like. 

If your metabolism needs you to consume 2000kcal but you consistently feed it 1500kcal, you will lose weight. However...if your metabolism didn't adapt to its new kcal intake, you would keep loosing weight until you literally died. 

It slowed down to meet you at 1500kcal... now you are 2022-04-05 21:47:46 .. 120 +217% 5 +17%

I totally forgot to post this…. But better late than never

Warning… this is about as fun to watch as drying paint….

Every year on Christmas day I do a 500 kettlebell swing challenge. I’ve done it for so long I can’t even remember a time I didn’t do it.  And over time my current clients and former clients have  jumped on the challenge too

Last Christmas A client challenged me to double it…. 1000 swings Christmas Day …. Never to shy away from a challenge, I accepted…. 

Now a thing to know about me is … I’m NOT endurance adapted at all… I SUCK at most endurance based activities… so 1000 swings was a genuine challenge for me.

I didn’t do them Christmas Day as I had a horrid mouth infection (2 Weeks’s 😢) but the second it cleared up I smashed it. 

This is at 30 times speed to it looks like I’m only swinging 3 reps at a time 🤪

How RANDOM…. So here I am 250 miles from home, stood inline to order my hot chocolate and a bun when a woman comes galloping over saying “Cee fee…. Cee Fee?!” …. It’s only a bloody client of mine!!!!

The strangeness of working online!!! I have never met sarah but I have worked with her for a year!!!

And the even more random thing was, I was I actually at polzeath with my family visiting a good friend of mine who was one of my first clients I ever had back in 2007! 

She was also getting a hot chocolate…

It just made my day xx

With the best of intentions she makes the 1 mistake most women do that shoot dead any long term success when it comes to fat loss⁣

she instantly drops into a cut (diet)⁣
⁣
✔️Susan knows that she needs to eat in a calorie deficit to lose weight - She runs the numbers by Coach Google. It tells her she is maintaining at 1900. Coach G suggests a drop  to 1520kcals. A reasonable 20 % deficit⁣
⁣
 ⚠️However,  she  has been GAINING weight right?  meaning she's been eating OVER her (theoretical) maintenance of 1900. let's say for shits &  giggles, 20 % over her needs, putting her at 2280⁣
⁣
✔️If she simply stopped eating the 380kcal she has been over eating - she would be creating an automatic deficit of 20% from what she has been doing without even having to do any aggressive kcal cut at all.⁣
⁣
⏲she would lose weight and also likely at a pretty decent rate. ⁣
⁣
What Susan doesn't realise is, she is a homeostasis machine - her metabolism is constantly 🔼+🔽 regulating to help maintain her weight ⁣
⁣
❌Starting out at 1520kcal may have  seemed  a good idea - until she plateaued with another 10kgs to lose... ⁣
⁣
Now her maintenance is actually 1520.  In order to  lose weight more weigh she needs to slash her calories again.then again⁣
⁣
⁣

This is actually very easy to sort out and for as many clients I as I “diet” with, MANY more end up having to reverse diet or head into a recovery diet. I spend a LOT of time in my DM’s answering questions about weight loss, health, fitness and nutrition… It’s no surprise. It’s my job. I'm a weight loss coach and im happy to give my time if it give you clarity.⁣

The BIGGEST question I get asked is around tracking macros or eating intuitively… As in, which one is best for fat loss.⁣

❓I don’t know if it is ok for my mental health to track my calories?⁣

❓I want to eat intuitively, but I keep gaining weight?⁣
 ⁣
❓What the hell am I actually supposed to eat?⁣
 ⁣
❓Shouldn’t I just take photos of my food?⁣
 ⁣
❓Can you lose weight without tracking macros?⁣
 ⁣
❓Does macro tracking work?⁣
 ⁣
❓Isn’t counting calories bad. Isn’t it fuelling eating disorders?⁣

The reason why these questions get asked is because there is SUCH a polarity between “macro tracker” and “intuitive eaters”…  “clean eaters” and “flexible dieters”. 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠…. Its bullshit and it’s wasting your time making your health and fitness goals HARDER.⁣

…Tracking macros versus intuitive eating is just getting bigger and MORE confusing. Especially when you get super popular fitness influencers like this Shelley Darlington trapping off and spouting bias to her quarter million viewers….⁣

I can’t lie, the video I'm refuting has agged me to the core. So, I have gloved up and gone in… I’ve taken one for the team, I’m primed for the back lash and also content for my voice to fall to the bottom of the social media ocean. ⁣
