Gorilla Trek number 5!!! Keep reading to support feminine female adventurers and WORKD PEACE!!

First - my favorite trek by far is still the Virunga National Park trek in D.R. Congo ! The gorillas there are not used to seeing tourists because not many people dare go there, and for a good reason! The m23 rebels (I’m not giving them the respect of capital letters) have occupied that area and the north, where I also went, and here’s something really important to know about them:

These are the people who carried out the actions of the Rwanda genocide. The actual scheme was led by European colonizers (ignored by USA) who separated the local people into two classes based on APPEARANCE and then turned them against each other to separate and conquer. The offenders fled to Congo, and are now the “rebel soldiers” who Rwanda funds. There is an ongoing war for power over land and the mineral rich resources of D.R. Congo.

Congo is also home to one of the largest rainforests in the world, which is currently being DEMOLISHED by foreigners (USA, China, and Europe), and the “rebels” (murderers) - which means all of the gorillas will get poached and killed there if nothing happens to stop them.

The last photos show how tranquil and accepting the gorillas in Congo were when I was there in 2021…I’ve never ever seen this in Uganda or Rwanda, and I fear so badly for their future.

Sadly, the evil rebels have taken over Goma (capital of D.R.Congo) again, backed by Rwanda - who claims to now be a peaceful and safe place!! The governments obviously are greedy and are allowing the mining of the forests, and OH! The biggest UN headquarters are in Goma, but I’ve seen first hand in person that they don’t do much to help civilians!

If they don’t help, if governments don’t help, WHO WILL!?!?

Please share this post to spread awareness, if not for the innocent people dying in Congo, then at least for the gorillas and rainforest which will also perish!!

Anyway! Outfits are mostly for awareness attention! I’m sure if I were a man wearing camo I’d get a lot more engagement but I’ll never give up being a fearless feminine extreme adventurer!!

This year’s safari outfits in Uganda! Making “Safari Chic” also “Safari Chic, Locally Made, Showcasing the Culture” 😻

I design all of my outfits and then the women’s NGO I work with here called Yimba Fashions sends me kitenge pattern options, and together we create these beautiful pieces! The NGO supports local women by teaching them valuable job and life skills so they can prosper on their own! With each trip I do to Uganda, I buy all of my welcome gifts and outfits from them, and my travelers purchase several as well! Check out their page to get your own!

Anyway! This year I had a lot of convertible pieces, more coming soon! And brought back one of my favorites; the chiffon and kitenge pool cover up with matching hat!

Which one is your favorite??

Also had to through in a blooper pic of my reaction when I was sitting on the floor with the rhinos…and they suddenly started trotting towards me. 🤪 Oh and that wine/rhino pic is outside of my tent…about 5 seconds after running outside in a towel bc everyone was whisper-yelling that there was a rhino outside! 😂

Another incredible Big 5 Safari in Africa! This time in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park!

Highlights were definitely seeing the 3 leopards as soon as we started, and it was my first time seeing them walking/playing on the ground instead of up in the tree! And then the 2 lionesses at the very end who seemed to be trying to dry off after it rained!

Also, I woke up to more breathing and crunching noises at 2:30am … this time it was two massive hippos!! (First time was a rhino!) so wild. Literally 😂

Which safari animal do you want to see the most?

Outfits all by: Yimba Uganda - helping me take “Safari chic” to the next level for the third year now!

Would you WALK with giant rhinos? I feel like I know the answer but lmk just in case!

Today was absolutely INCREDIBLE in Uganda!!! Our Travel Tribe went to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, and I was expecting to see maybe 2 rhinos, and we ended up seeing almost 20!!

Oh and as I was getting out of the shower everyone started calling and texting me to go outside of my chalet…..bc a rhino was outside of it. We have named her “Wino”. Video coming soon 😂

I’ve been to all “New 7 World Wonders” and can 100% say that the rock carved churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia should be on that list!!!

These churches were carved out of stone from the top, down, 900+ years ago, with the purpose of being a closer pilgrimage site than an original one far away.

The depth of the excavation and intricate details of all 11 churches is simply mind blowing, and according to legend was done with the help of angels!

Would you want to visit here?

Whoever made the “7 New Wonders of the World” list, has never been to Lalibela, Ethiopia!

I’ve been to all of the ones on that list, plus the last existing ancient world wonders, plus dozens of other contenders….and i can honestly say that this has been one of the most perplexing, surreal, mind blowing experiences of them all!

This is just one of 10 (maybe 11, they weren’t sure about the earliest one) of churches CARVED FROM THE TOP TO BOTTOM OUT OF STONE 🤯

I thought Petra and Hegra were impressive, but those were carved from the ground, up!!!!

There’s so much I have to say, not enough space here, if this interests you, please please give me 10 mins of your time to read about it on my blog (on bio) and please like/comment/repost to share this beauty with others!

This was one of those moments that I really felt like I time traveled, and was in a movie! I hope you enjoy this clip following me through tunnels to get into this church!

Would you follow me through dark tunnels to reach a 900 year old underground church in Ethiopia??

…..(If so also check out that new link for a form to get notified of upcoming low key adventure group trips that I’m not posting on social)

A million thanks to Aman Tours and Travel for trusting I’d cover this destination properly and sending me here!!! 🙏 If you want to go solo like I did, I would highly recommend them!!

Bucketlist ✔️ - Lalibela, Ethiopia to see the ancient churches carved in stone from the top of mountains - down.

This is the most popular image, but this is literally just the surface! I spent the last two days climbing through tunnel ways reminiscent of Fraggle Rock, seeing architecture and paintings up to 1400 years old in all 10 of the rock churches in the area!

I’ve seen a lot of fascinating historical sites in the 144 countries I’ve now been to - and this one now graces a spot at the top of my must-experience list!

Getting here requires a flight to Lalibela from Addis Ababa, and you must have a guide! I would highly recommend booking with amanethiopiatours as they have been so easy, attentive, informational, and have made me feel very safe here as a solo female traveler! Plus I’ve gotten a lot of local experiences so far too!!

They even helped me get fitted for this custom chiffon dress made locally, which most of the women wear, and ironically happens to also be what I usually wear! 😻

Next up is the video tour all around and INSIDE these ancient churches, plus my attempt at being an Ethiopian coffee barista, and injera chef… 😬

Have you heard of Lalibela??

Here’s how to travel like a PRO and avoid anxiety or negativity when there’s long flight times, delays, layovers, etc!

I Just spent 28 hours on 4 flights in 3 countries to “get to work today”, and had absolutely 0 complaints or 0 regrets!! (And to the few who ask: tell me more about how my job is so easy and just simply requires taking pictures/videos 😂)

My main tips for enjoying all that as much as I did are:

- Opt for at least one long layover that’s easy and gives you a break/chance to see another city
- Avoid layovers with less than 2 hours (I didn’t do that this time and was sure I’d miss the flight)
- GET A LOUNGE PASS - so much info about this on my blog!
- Pick your seats and pay for luggage in advance for long legs…seat roulette for the short ones
- ALWAYS check in and get your boarding pass, then use the Drop Baggage line!
- For long layovers, look for airport hotels or pods to nap!
- if you get anxiety, remember there are many people feeling the same, and trained medical people on all flights and in airports!

Anywayyyyy! I finally made it to a place called Lalibela today, which is the holiest place for Ethiopians, and something I’ve been wanting to see for many years!

I’m already blown away by this area and cannot wait to share what I got to experience today!!!

Also, this is a completely normal work commute example for me, which I do around 20 times per year to maintain my business! Would you be up for that??

Have you heard of Lalibela or the famous churches carved from stone here??

Two weeks PTO per year in USA concept needs to take a lesson from the Italians (and many other European countries) who encourage taking the entire month of August off for vacation!

Today is the main holiday, Ferragosto! An ancient holiday that is now mostly celebrated by eating and drinking all day with family and friends! We got through lunch only. 😂

Oh and we def still worked every day in August, and I couldnt imagine not working for a month, so this is mostly just interesting to observe hehe. However if PTO existed for my business I’d happily take it!

Would you want a whole month off of work for vacation?

I couldn’t decide on one wedding dress, so I got 8. Two of them transformed into other styles, which was so fun! And all of them are from different countries 😂

One I wore in Antarctica, and the pink lengha was custom stitched in India and brought to Italy by my friend/cohost Jena! My three main wedding day dresses were all custom made by a shop I found in Vietnam that I’m going to eventually offer help with on a new website I’m working on for affordable weddings!

My favorites are probably the beach ceremony one, the ballgown that transforms into a short skirt, and the lengha!

Preparing for my upcoming gorilla trek in Uganda, but on a vineyard in Italy…same same but different. 😂

This will be my 6th gorilla trek, my favorite is still my first one in DRCongo especially since not many people have done it (it’s also still closed due to unrest), and yes I have another obnoxious yet awesome custom made kitenge safari outfit for it!

But first stop is ETHIOPIA!! I leave Sunday on a 24 hour journey to get to Lalibela, and then to finally experience Addis Ababa and see the country where my niece and nephew and their mama are from!!! Yay!!!

Let me know if you prefer to see my usual “highlight reels with info” or some of these silly BTS videos of what I’m actually doing most of the time, or both?

After traveling to most of the East African countries multiple times, I still have to say that Burundi 🇧🇮 is one of the most underrated and most overlooked hidden gems!

For anyone who may remember - this was the country i got off a plane in the wrong country trying to get to, and has no idea until airline staff came and found me wandering around alone.

Anyway! I went solo a few years ago, trusting my gut like usual, and I was rewarded with one of the most interesting and authentic experiences I’ve had in my life!

The local company (Gisabo Tours) I was working with - people my age or maybe younger, warmly welcomed me not just to their country but into their lives!

They took me to get fitted for their beautiful traditional clothing, which is something I’d love to wear regularly, and took me to a wedding and “dowry ceremony/party”! They also took me to their favorite lake side bars, and hotspots!

For the tour, I was blown away by how beautiful the nature was; complete with a stunning multi-tier waterfall and lush tea fields!

But most impactful were the Burundi drummers, who showcased a performance so electrifying that I still cry a little bit watching the videos! The whole village where they perform comes to watch, and afterwards they even invited me to (attempt) dancing.

It was so authentic, so real, so special! And it was nice being one of the only tourists there, however I think they deserve more attention!

If you happen to be interested in unique, safe, destinations, please check out my blog post for how to travel here!

I’m so proud that we will be bringing more travelers here this year through my group trips as an add on to our Uganda trip - last time our travelers said that Burundi was their highlight!

Thank you everyone I met in Burundi for such a magical experience! I hope to return one day!!

Am I the only person in Italy who DOES NOT LIKE Aperol Spritz?? 😝

But on these hot summer days, when Prosecco alone gets warm fast, it’s nice to have a cold drink with ice, so I went and did a bunch of “research” all around Italy and found these delicious Spritz’s instead!

* All have a base of equal parts Prosecco and soda water and then you add the liqueurs below:

1. Lemon Spritz (my top fave) : limoncello
2. Hugo Spritz : elderflower liqueur, mint
3. Pink spritz: grapefruit liqueur
4. Purple spritz: “Lovem” (a grape/ginger liqueur)
5. Orange spritz: orange liqueur, orange bitters
6. Sunset spritz: peach tree, orange liqueur, ginger beer instead of soda
7. “Alyssa Spritz”: cherry purée, homemade limoncello, Alyssa sparkling rosè 😜

* All can be made as mocktails by substituting liqueur for juice or syrup and Prosecco for soda/ginger ale/sprite !

Which is your fave or which do you prefer??

You’ve heard of the Drake Passage but have you heard of the Drake SLIDE?! 😳🫣😂 jk please don’t try this onboard!

This was totally unplanned and unexpected! I was hosting one of my mylifesatraveltribe group trips in Antarctica, and we were all just hanging out having wine on the back deck when we suddenly entered the Drake Passage, and got the Drake Shake!

The feeling is similar to being on a roller coaster..the boat goes all the way up, smashes down, then rocks hard side to side.

It was hard to stand up (as you can see from my guests) so I thought for some reason sitting down would feel better. And then..:I started to slide!

Did not spill a drop of wine, but the third time I was almost perpendicular with the ocean, and that’s when I made everyone go inside!

This was my 4th time hosting a group trip to Antarctica and we always get really great feedback! If you’d like to join us in the future, please tap my blog link in bio, head to the Group Trips page, and fill out the Antarctica form! DM if you can’t find it!!

Officially my 3,000th post on this platform!!! (Part 2) This set of photos shows the transition in photo style from the previous post, which is less selfies with a stick, more with a tripod or drone, more of my face, and more unique destinations!

Fun fact: I refused to show my face in photos for the first 3 years of my travel blogging posts, because many people told me (mostly in LA) that I “only get things because of the way I look”…so I wanted to show that I could still be successful with only showing the back of my head!

….then it became a super popular photo pose trend and so I started showing my face to differentiate my posts and distinguish myself as a brand 😂

Anyway, these photos are some of my favorites and also some of my favorite destinations and moments! From meeting the rare indigenous tribes of Papua New Guinea, to hanging off the edge of Victoria Falls, climbing Kilimanjaro AND Everest Basecamp, and of course; my 4 expeditions to Antarctica! Sometimes I can’t believe I’ve done all of this!!

My 3,000th posts on this platform!! I can’t believe it!! That equates to having posted something every day for 8 years (I’ve been posting for 12)!!!

Here’s Part 1 of my favorite photo posts of all time! Each one has a story, which I wrote about in the caption and on my blog!

I wish photo posts were still higher in demand than videos, but I’m so so happy I took these thousands of “selfie-tography” photos despite the many times people laughed at my selfie stick!!

How many destinations can you name from these 20 photos?? Which was your favorite post??

La Pelosa Beach is one of the most famous not just in Sardinia, but the WORLD, often snagging top spots in the World’s Beat Beaches lists, buuuuutttt there’s a lot of rules and things most people don’t share about!

For starters - you must have a reservation in high season (and I believe pay a couple euros). They limit capacity to 1500 per day, which is A LOT since the actual beach is not that big!

You also MUST use a beach mat under your towel or on its own, and you get fined if not! This is actually to prevent people from taking the sand, which is a big no-no, along with shells ofc!

Parking is hellish so get there early and do not forget to pay that meter!

But my best piece of info for you is that to avoid all chaos…book the hotel across from the beach that has free parking and a private sun chair garden at the small beach next to La Pelosa, where you can just swim over to La Pelosa anyway😎 Name and all info is on the links in my bio on the Summer in Sardinia Travel Guide!

I splurged on this hotel for the convenience and also for my master plan of having a place close by to leave Geo in the room while I went to the beach, and it worked out perfectly! I was even able to take him to La Pelosa beach before the reservation restrictions started at 8am!

Btw, it looks like we’ll be doing a Mediterranean Gems Summer in Italy trip next June!!! DM me your email if you’d like to get notified of it!

Would you go through all of this to see this beach?

BREAKING NEWS: But unfortunately not shocking - USA and Israel pulled out of the recent ceasefire negotiation faster than [insert inappropriate frump reference here].

I was SHOCKED and unnerved to hear the meeting would take place near where I live in Sardinia, and disgusted to hear that the “envoy” is an unqualified old dude who is just a real estate builder like…other unqualified government people.

The meeting took place on a MEGA YACHT offered by the neutral Qatar, but just a short time later, USA and Israel said NO to the decision to stop murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians - mostly babies and kids - because they allegedly can’t find 25 hostages, with all of their high tech abilities. Also, regardless, they want total control of Gaza.

The weather in Sardinia has been extremely windy with high waves yesterday and today, adding yet another sign from the universe that this is all completely F’ed up.

These two countries will continue to kill people and continue to ruin their reputation to the rest of the world, and it SHOWS! Trust me as a traveler, people are noticing and reacting!

To be clear again - this is not POLITICAL - this is about human rights and doing what’s right! Each side of the people in power are to blame, but not the innocent bystanders. Shame on these old angry “men”! And shame on anyone who thinks it’s justified to kill and torture thousands of people!

Yes I know some of you will unfollow me, but my moral duty as a world traveler and global citizen is to SAY WHAT IS F’ED UP AND HELP STOP IT! So please, if you resonate with this at all, share it, if anything just like it so it gets shown more!!

Manifest #WORLDPEACE ! I literally have it tattooed on my hands to remind me to do it every day! That’s what I pray for, that’s why I don’t believe in religions or governments! They all cause hatred and war in an attempt to control!

If this news bothers you, don’t forget about the ethnic cleansing in USA as well!!

And apologies to anyone I shared my anger and anxiety with, I’ve never felt so disturbed and helpless by worldly issues before and am just doing what I can to attempt to help.

Throwback to the time my life felt like a horror movie (or maybe just an episode of Lost). My first solo trip to Papua New Guinea, when we got re-routed to a remote area, and one of the “activities” the lodge offered was a trip to see a “skull cave”.

In case you don’t already know - PNG is unfortunately infamously known for cannibalism, BUT they no longer practice it and they haven’t for many years. However…the remnants from it are still there.

I had no idea what I was getting into, hence the dress, and my shoe broke the second I jumped off the boat, so I trekked through the jungle barefoot.

We met the local tribe, who I couldn’t help but wonder if they’re relatives were formerly cannibals, and then yeah, I came face to face with several hundred, bone-faces.

Low key plug — I am now officially also a contributing writer for Bored Panda in addition to Yahoo! They asked me to write this story as my first piece, so if you’d like the full scoop, please give it a read! Linked in bio and on my Stories!!

Would you go into a skull cave in PNG? Should I bring the PNG group trip back??

I didn’t think my travel blog/travels would last more than 2 years…can’t believe it’s been 12!! 🥹

When people ask for my IG and they see my profile, most think I’ve only been doing it a couple years, but NOPE, it’s been 144 months of non stop working on this account, my blog, my YouTube, group trips, and other random side branches I start (and usually don’t finish)

People also ask when I’ll stop traveling…which I always find strange….why would I stop traveling, especially when it’s also my business?? And especially when I still have 50+ more countries to see!! Omg so many!!

Anyway it was fun scrolling alllllll the way back on my IG to find these photos, what’s the earliest one you remember?

Forget St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice, or Marseilles, the mega-yachters of France and the rest of Europe definitely hide out on the island of Corsica, just north of my home-island Sardinia!

I’ve been wanting to visit Corsica ever since hearing about its beautiful beaches and a cute French Old Town, so I finally went on a whim and was beyond obsessed!

Since I went last minute, I could only find a day trip from the north of Sardinia on one of those rubber boats (not a fan of them), and I did zero research, so imagine how exciting it was discovering all of this in one day!

Definitely aim for a sailboat tour, and private if possible so you can choose how long you stay in each place.

I’d recommend doing Bonifacio from 10am-1pm to avoid crowds but also be there when the restaurants open… and definitely spend more time at the sand bar of the Lavezzi islands rather than the actual islands…

Full tips and travel guide are on my blog! Linked in bio! And if you go to Corsica, you might as well pop down to our winery in the Baunei Coast area of Sardinia!

Sharks rarely attack humans, and they don’t even want to eat them, they want to eat fish or seals, which helps regulate the underwater ecosystem! Without sharks, the oceans would go to 💩!

I’ve gone diving with bull sharks in Mexico, Fiji, and Florida (the most unregulated and dangerous was def FL), and have always had very beautiful experiences observing them. I hope one day to see Tiger Sharks, and Hammerheads!

In fact, I don’t even really love diving and the main reason I will go is if it’s a shark or shipwreck dive!

If you haven’t watched #SharkWhisperer by #oceanramsey, I’d highly recommend it - not only does it explain why we need to protect sharks, but another message I relate to - why women get talked badly about for doing “dangerous adventures” when men get glorified for it 😁 have you seen it yet?

There definitely are not many people who care about sharks, nonetheless, really enjoy seeing them like I do, but trust me when I say, it’s extremely important to protect them!!
