39 years ago at 7 years old I went on my first diet. Richard Simmons “Deal-A-Meal”.

For nearly FORTY YEARS I’ve been on some type of diet.

40 F**KING YEARS almost.

I’ve struggled with body image issues, binge eating disorder, and tracked  macros & calories obsessively.

Misery.

I got a degree in Exercise Science 🧪 & Nutrition. Multiple fitness certifications. 

All of which I’m proud of. 

I’ve helped thousands of people over the years.

I believe in proper nutrition & fasting as a way of life. 

AND I was anti glp-1 before I decided to get out of my own way.

It’s a tool.

Incorporated with everything else, it’s given me to control over my body I’ve always been chasing.

My inflammation…GONE. 
My energy…through the roof. 

Being humble enough to admit I was “wrong” was what was needed.

I’ve felt shame for most of my life…and today, that’s gone.

It may or may not be your path, but to not obsess over macro tracking is priceless for me!

Tip #1 to feel fuller and preserve muscle 💪🏻 eat your protein! 

Especially when breaking a fast. 

Always start with protein, and ladies aim for 30-40g per meal. It may seem like a lot, but really you’re looking for a serving about the size of a deck of cards. 

Protein Is the most nutrient dense macronutrient, the most bang for your buck!

We are preserving muscle 💪🏻 which we start to lose (If we don’t use it and feed it!) as we age.

Supplements or other tools like GLP-1s and peptides will only enhance your overall wellbeing and weight management…but it all starts with the food you put in your body!

Take a look at the clothes I’m getting rid of—they don’t fit anymore, and it’s time to let them go.

This feels like the right time for some real talk.

I’ve spent more than 25 years on this health journey. I earned a degree in Exercise Science, stacked up certifications in personal training and nutrition, and have coached thousands of people.

But that doesn’t mean it’s always been easy for me.

I’ve been overweight.
I’ve been lean and muscular.
I’ve even been too thin for my frame.

It’s been a ride, and I’m grateful for every season of it.

Just a few months ago, I hit a wall—mentally, emotionally, and physically. Perimenopause was taking me down hard.

Even though I was still fasting, eating well most of the time, and exercising regularly, I felt completely out of control of my body. I was on the verge of giving up.

That’s when I made a decision—for me.

I started HRT, a GLP-1, and NAD. 

Paired with a healthy eating plan and consistent fitness, that combination changed everything.

I feel in control.
I feel confident in my own skin.

And I know I made the right choice.

Was it easy? No.

Did I take the “easy way out”? 

Absolutely not. If that’s what you think, then with all respect—mind your own business.

It took 25 years of education and trial-and-error through every diet and fitness plan imaginable to get here. 

And now, I feel incredible.

A beautiful 28 year old woman said to me today “I want to be you“….

that was very sweet, but as many of you know, who’s been following me for a while, I’ve had lots and lots of ups and downs in my weight and my athleticism over the years. 

however, her saying that helped me remember why I do this. How lifting and taking my care of my body makes me feel like my best self. 

i’ve spent 46 years on this planet, and God willing I will spend at least another 46 more… We all have choices, and even though mine are not always great… We can always get back on track.

Your body will take on many forms in your life. Mine sure has.

I’ve been “fat” - definitely carrying more weight than I ever should have. At one point I was over 250 pounds when I was younger.

I have the type of frame where I can take off weight, add on muscle easily, OR pack on fat when my depression isolates me from the world and I resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms around binge eating.

I’ve done a lot of self-work...and when I say A LOT, I mean I’ve spent a small fortune on therapy over the years just to understand the trauma I hold in my body and what triggers me and why I allow my eating disorder to separate me from the world at times.

I found exercise in my youth. 
I got a degree in exercise science to try to figure ME out, and along the way, even with UPs (HUGE WEIGHT GAIN AT TIMES) and DOWNs, I have been able to help a lot of people.

These last two years were full of UPs and DOWNs.

Stress, injury, financial insecurity...I went from the woman you see on the left to an out of shape woman (not pictured), and then finally back to me. 

Yes, I am 25 pounds lighter than I was 2 years ago. 
Do I miss that fitness and the amount of muscle I had on my body then? A little but taking off some muscle in my case makes my body feel much better... and post Achilles injury I’ve retired my days of hard training for Hyrox or any other extreme sport to just focus on my overall health.

Here’s the thing about taking off muscle. If you have a solid base like I did, taking down some of the bulk isn’t a bad thing. 

My workouts are still intense, but different. I train for overall function of my body and I don’t push it.

I eat well.
I fast.
I got my hormones in check (that was a process, but so worth it).
I made significant life changes.

AND....

I work every day on loving myself.

Your body will have many changes, but the lesson I have learned is that no matter if I am 250 pounds or 160, I’m worthy of love...starting with my own love first.
