Kirgistan Calling!
A new adventure – and a complete success.

What started as a spontaneous idea during one of my shows one and a half years ago – in a conversation with Stefan, the founder of Epic Trails – has now become reality:
My first guided motorcycle tour is in the books.

And what can I say?
I'm genuinely overwhelmed.
By the participants.
By the journey.
By the energy.

For two weeks, we rode together – across endless tracks, dusty mountain passes, wild canyons and lush high plateaus. It was demanding, sometimes really tough – but that’s exactly what brought us together. A group turned into a real community.

Now that everyone has headed home, what remains above all is: gratitude.
For the intense time. The inspiring conversations. The trust.
And the amazing people I got to meet.

Big thanks to Anselm, Michael, Arnim, Flo, Stäff, Matze, Andreas, Frank, Tom, Marc, Micha – and of course Stefan, Artiom, and Tatjana! That was a blast! ❤️🤘🙏

I truly hope to see some of you again – somewhere out there, maybe even on another motorcycle tour. 😎

Cheers to an epic shared motorcycle adventure!

Probably the most intense short trip I've ever done.

People often ask me: Is it really possible to ride to the North Cape in just two weeks – and still feel like you’ve truly traveled?
On my last tour, I didn’t have much time – so I gave it a try.

Ferry to Helsinki, through the endless wilderness of Lapland to the North Cape. Then along Norway’s stunning coastline to the spectacular Lofoten Islands, across the Saltfjellet mountains into Sweden – and finally back down south via the Inlandsvägen to Gothenburg.

In just 14 days and around 4300 kilometers, I rode some of the most impressive roads in Finland and Scandinavia – and rarely has a trip felt so intense and rewarding.

Late May to early June: still a bit chilly (averaging around 15°C), but the weather was amazing.
Almost no rain, plenty of sunshine – and best of all: barely any tourists. I’d choose this time of year again in a heartbeat.

If you’re planning a similar ride:
You can download the full GPX route in the download section of my roadbook “Let’s Ride Norway.”
It’s a paved-road route – I skipped the gravel sections (though I did ride parts of the TET Sweden) and left out wild camping spots.
Instead, you’ll find marked campsites and trusted accommodation from previous tours.

Two weeks. Countless impressions. North Cape included.

Enjoy the ride &
Happy Trails,
Erik

Gentlemen, start your engines… ❄️☀️

Hard to believe: Right here – on this lakeshore in Sweden where I’m standing now – I once rode my motorcycle across this frozen lake during my winter journey to the North Cape.

In Sweden, there are several lakes where you’re officially allowed to ride or drive across the ice in winter – but only if the ice is thick enough (about 20 cm is needed to safely carry a motorcycle). Back then, a small circuit was marked out right here. Chasing the fastest lap time, Daniel and I tore across the ice on studded tires. 😃

Honestly? It takes a serious amount of nerve to ride a Ténéré across a cracking sheet of ice – especially when you can’t measure how thick it really is… and you know there are dozens of icy meters beneath you. 😅

Day three on the Lofoten Islands 🇳🇴

After leaving the North Cape behind, I’ve spent the past few days exploring these stunning islands in the North Atlantic – and honestly, I’d love to stay a bit longer.

But the journey continues: Next week I’ll be at the SW-Motech Open House in Rauschenberg, and right after that it’s time for the next adventure – Kyrgyzstan Calling! 😍

Today I’m heading back to the mainland. After the ferry ride from the Lofoten to Bodø, I’ll cross the mighty Saltfjellet into Sweden and continue south – mostly on gravel and quiet backroads.

This ride isn’t just about clearing my head after everything that happened in Brighton. It also has a purpose: updating my Let’s Ride Norway travel guide, capturing new shots for my upcoming live show – and figuring out how much time you really need for an unforgettable journey to the North Cape.

More on that soon – my ferry is boarding now... 😉

NORTH CAPE – THE SEVENTH TIME

For the seventh time, I find myself here – at the edge of Europe.

Many say: “The North Cape? It’s just a steel globe. What’s so special about it?”
But to me, it’s not about the globe. It’s about the journey up here.
About solitude, nature, vast open spaces – and that indescribable state of inner peace and deep contentment.

A feeling that finds its way into me up here, again and again, despite the harsh conditions.

The North Cape is, and always will be – as I wrote in my book – a place of magic, of dreams, and of unforgettable memories.

47 degrees difference. Same place. Two seasons.

Three years ago – in early February – I stood right here.
It was the coldest day I’ve ever ridden a motorcycle: minus 29°C, biting wind, and bone-chilling cold.
And yet, it remains one of the most intense and beautiful memories of all my travels.

Now I'm back on the same route – in spring temperatures and seeing it in a whole new light.

As you can see on the sign, today's destination isn't far.

Midnight Sun – north of the Arctic Circle.

I’ve crossed the Arctic Circle and am now riding through the quiet, wide expanse of Lapland.

If you're searching for peace, solitude, and untouched nature – you'll find it here in the far north of Finland.
At the moment, there are hardly any tourists around, the mosquitoes are still asleep, and temperatures range from a pleasant 15 to 20 degrees Celsius.

Even the sun takes no break now – it will stay above the horizon until August.
This photo was taken just a few minutes after midnight.

Back on Track!

After my motorcycle was stolen in England, followed by all the frustrating insurance hassle and the exhausting task of replacing my gear, I’m finally back on the road.

I had originally planned to be in Ireland right now, working on a new Roadbook – but the chaos of the past two weeks completely threw off my schedule. That project will have to wait.

To clear my head, I’m heading out on one of my all-time favorite routes:
From Helsinki, the journey takes me through Finland, Norway and Sweden – to where endless landscapes, calming solitude, and long days in the saddle are waiting.

Come along for the ride.

Less than three days after my motorcycle was stolen, I got it back.
Thanks to all of you. Thanks to this amazing community – and especially to the incredible support of the UK biker scene. I’m deeply grateful.

So, what’s next?
The journey isn’t over – I’ll be back on the road soon.
But first, I need to make a quick trip home to deal with insurance matters, gather serial numbers of my stolen gear, and sort out a few formalities.

Next week, the adventure continues.
And once again: thank you all for the overwhelming support.

Happy Trails

Thank you so much – I truly appreciate your support! It really shows me once again why, despite everything that’s happened, the UK still has some of the kindest people in all of Europe. Thank you so much for your support.

For now, I’ll wait and see what happens with my bike. I should know more tomorrow. There are still investigations to be completed, paperwork to take care of – and maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to continue my journey with my motorcycle. One way or another.

What truly impresses me, though, is the incredible support from you bikers here in the UK.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear UK motorcycle community – I really need your help.

My motorcycle was stolen yesterday around 5 PM in Brighton, right on the seafront promenade at the corner of Oriental Place, directly in front of the Kings Hotel.

I had just stepped inside the hotel for less than three minutes to ask if a room was available – when I came back out, the bike was gone.

It’s a grey Yamaha Tenere 700, fitted with SW-Motech accessories, and registered in Germany.
License Plate: KEP68 (German plate)
It was fully loaded with luggage, as I was just about to start a new journey. On the bike were my full camping gear, camera equipment, drone, laptop and more – everything I need for my work and travels.

Please, if anyone has seen something or has any information, let me know or contact the local police.
It would mean a lot if you could share this post – maybe it helps bring the bike back.

Thank you so much for your support!

Let’s Ride Ireland!
It’s finally time again – the next motorcycle adventure is just around the corner!

After taking care of a few family matters over the past weeks, I found myself standing in front of my big map of Europe, pondering: Where should the road take me next?
Before heading off to Kyrgyzstan this summer and spending a longer stretch in South America towards the end of the year, I’ve got about five weeks now – just enough time for a big tour in Europe.

But where to go, when you’ve already explored every country on the continent?
I wanted a place I haven’t visited in at least five years. A destination that stirs up a longing for the road, a sense of wanderlust. And soon it became clear: I’m heading north – to Ireland!

The plan?
The journey begins with a ferry ride from Calais to Dover. After a short detour through southern England, I’ll explore some gravel tracks in Wales. From there, I’ll cross over to the Emerald Isle – starting in Dublin. Following the Wild Atlantic Way, I’ll trace the coastline all the way up to Northern Ireland. Then it’s on to Scotland by ferry from Belfast, before heading back home.

And because I’m eager to expand my Let’s Ride series with a new book and fresh video footage, of course, the camera is coming along for the ride.😎

Let’s Ride Ireland!

After starting this morning at Point Pedro, the northernmost point of Sri Lanka, I’ve just arrived in one of my favorite places in the country after a monster leg of 250 kilometers (which feel like 750 with the motorcycle when traveling by Tuk-Tuk): Sigiriya.

Not far from the mighty Lion Rock, where an impressive royal fortress once stood in ancient times, there are some very cozy restaurants, bars, and super-affordable accommodations.

Small Engine, Big Fun – Tuk-Tuk Adventure in Sri Lanka! 🛺

After spending a few weeks working under palm trees, it's time to put the laptop away and truly unwind. Normally, I’d never consider a vacation without a motorcycle – two wheels are a must. Unless I can ride on three … 😎

For the fourth time now, I’m back in Sri Lanka – an island I discovered and fell in love with during the pandemic. Adventure, relaxation, amazing people, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible food – all at a bargain price. I can hardly think of a better place to escape the winter!

Before I’m back on stage in March, I’m making the most of these weeks with no plans, no schedule – just me and my Tuk-Tuk cruising at 40 km/h from the northernmost to the southernmost tip of the island. 🛺💨

From Paris to Dakar - and back ...

7,603 kilometres separate these two photos. Almost six weeks ago, Alain and I started our new adventure in the French capital: the legendary route from Paris to Dakar. But unlike the famous rally, we were not interested in competition. Instead, we were driven by the question of what adventures, landscapes and stories would await us along this iconic route. We were also particularly interested in the question of what it would be like for Alain to master sand and gravel tracks again after his serious crash a year and a half ago.
.
We have now reached our destination at the westernmost tip of Africa. Even though our adventure was comparatively short, the past few weeks in the world's largest desert have challenged us in many ways. The most valuable realisation was that Alain found the courage to face up to and overcome the mental blocks after the accident. Nothing now stands in the way of new adventures.
.
Our journey was originally supposed to end here in Dakar. We wanted to ship the motorbikes and fly home ourselves. But we no longer like this plan. As we have the feeling that we have only just got going and the two Ténérés are a lot of fun and run like clockwork, we spontaneously decided to make the return journey on two wheels. This time, however, it's a bit like a rally: we want to see if we can make it back home from Dakar in one week ...

On the Edge of the Sahara

After nearly 7,000 kilometers, we left the Sahara behind today, which had accompanied us for many miles. It was fascinating for us to witness how the world's largest desert gradually transforms into a green and fertile landscape. At first, isolated bushes appear, followed by shrubs with delicate green leaves around which camel herds gather. Eventually, the first lakes and rivers emerge. After so many kilometers through barren desert, it was impressive to experience nature coming back to life in the border region between Mauritania and Senegal.

**Through the Sahara on the Iron Ore Train: An Adventure of Extremes**

It’s one of the longest and heaviest trains in the world: the Iron Ore Train in Mauritania. Spanning about 700 kilometers, it rumbles through the endless expanse of the Sahara, from the iron ore mines in Zouérat to the loading terminal on the Atlantic coast. The unique part? You can ride on the train – legally and for free.

It's 3 a.m., deep into the night, when the 2.5-kilometer-long train finally pulls into the freight station at Nouadhibou. About 100 other travelers and I have waited nearly six hours for this moment. As the train stops, chaos ensues. No one knows how long it will stay, so we hurriedly throw our gear into one of the empty wagons and climb aboard. We tie scarves around our mouths and noses to protect ourselves from the swirling sand and iron ore dust, and we pull on old ski goggles. With a deafening roar, the train begins to move. The jolt is so strong that we’re thrown across the wagon. It becomes clear immediately: This has nothing to do with the romance of train travel. It’s going to be tough. Really tough. And this is just the outbound trip...

The 14-hour journey through the desert is a true ordeal. The noise, the heat, the dust, and the seemingly endless desert make us feel like we’re trapped in a surreal dream. Through my scratched goggles, the Sahara takes on an otherworldly glow, and the dystopian atmosphere could rival any 2024-10-08 14:52:35 .. 1,625 -33% 54 -39%
On the Road in Western Sahara

Admittedly, before this trip, I knew very little about Western Sahara. It was only through a brief internet search that I learned that the former Spanish colony was annexed by Morocco after the Spaniards left in 1975, and that the resulting war with the Sahrawis, the original inhabitants, claimed over 10,000 lives. It was also new to me that many countries, including Germany, do not recognize Western Sahara as part of Morocco. To this day, the territory remains disputed between Morocco and the Polisario Front, which fights for the independence of Western Sahara. A large part of Western Sahara is administered by Morocco, while the areas controlled by the Polisario Front are declared as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, although recognized by only a few countries.

In recent days, I have often been asked whether this region of Northwest Africa is safe. It’s difficult to give a straightforward answer to that. But I can say that we both feel very safe here—otherwise, we certainly wouldn’t have spent the last few nights camping.

According to the German Foreign Office, Western Sahara, apart from the northern part heavily controlled by Morocco, is considered relatively calm. However, travelers are advised to stick to official routes, as there are still isolated minefields off the roads.

So, what is it like here? We absolutely love it. On one hand, because we are drawn to the rugged beauty of vast, barren landscapes, and on the other, because we find the people to be extraordinarily friendly. The roads we are traveling on are in excellent condition, and the food is similar to that in northern Morocco, ranging from 2024-10-02 14:30:10 .. 1,323 -45% 9 -90%
Along the coast towards the south

We have now left Agadir behind us and are travelling south along the Atlantic coast. Today we will reach the Western Sahara almost exactly at the level of the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. We can already see that the landscape is becoming more barren and desert-like.

The most beautiful city in Africa
.
Alain didn't promise too much when he told me that he thought Essaouira on Morocco's Atlantic coast was the most beautiful city in Africa. He first came here in his early twenties, lived from spearfishing for a while and sold his catch to hoteliers and restaurant owners. A few years later, he wanted to open a large hotel in the old town himself, but the attacks of 11 September 2001 caused his investors to back out and thwarted his plans. His love for Essaouira remained unbroken, however, and he has visited the city dozens of times since then. Now finally with me - and I can only share his enthusiasm.
.
Essaouira, once known as Mogador, was already an important trading centre between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa in the 18th century. The picturesque old town, which is surrounded by a historic fortress wall, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001 and gives Essaouira an unrivalled flair that you simply have to experience. If you ever come to Morocco, you should definitely spend a few relaxing days here.
