Soft launching my teardrop (aka the adventure hub). I’ve got a lot of projects going on right now, from a house remodel/redecorating to now renovating this little guy. Honestly, I should’ve bought one years ago. 😅 I also now have something that Lace LOVES sleeping in. 😂 I took it out for my first bike trip a couple weeks ago and had the best night’s sleep. It’s fully equipped with a kitchen in the back, a TV inside, and it runs everything off a battery generator. Working on a solar panel next so it’s completely off-grid. 🌞 I’ll show the inside once I have everything done! Bucket list kind of thing. Getting to see Manchester United play against Manchester City in England. ✨ — This trip was much needed for me. This is the city that helped to start healing me. I flew out to London to study for a summer when I was a young 20 year old in college, and going through the greatest loss I had ever been through with losing my grandma. I ended up meeting life long friends and even moving out to Los Angeles after meeting my dear friend, D here, who encouraged me to go for it and took me under her wing. Crazy how one summer quite literally shaped and changed my life. I think about the chain reaction it had and what if I never lived out here that summer. I may have never moved out to California and found mountain biking, snowboarding and my love for tall peaks. I also probably would have never gotten into the industry I’m in right now. Long, steep climbs on the poseidonbike X Gen 2! As many of you know, my big goal this year has been to complete a century ride on gravel. I decided to give myself a little grace and push it back until cooler temps, but it feels like we’re getting closer and closer. 🤩 One thing I’m excited about is getting a proper bike fitting. I was hoping I got my encounter with 3 rattlers on camera and I did, lol. Lace is definitely not a newbie when it comes to rattlesnakes, but the problem is, if they’re not rattling or moving, she’s completely oblivious to them being there. She just knows by my reaction something bad is there. From our hikes yesterday. Started off with a 13ner and ended our last hike at some waterfalls for a little swim sess. 👌🏻 🏔️ 1: Lace looking very pleased, lol. 🏔️ 2: At the summit. Lace has been having a tough time adjusting to me being back in an office and no longer being with her 24/7. It’s made me really sad to see. She’s not the typical dog. She’s complex and highly emotional, so I decided on a whim to fly her to Colorado for the weekend so she could do her Lace-type hikes and go wild. I haven’t been able to bike for the last 3 weeks. So of course, the day I have time, a large storm rolls in. 🤪 Reason 839592 why gravel bikes are awesome. Got out there and rode the poseidonbike in the rain, and it was glorious! This was the first time riding the gravel bike to the top of Potato Patch Mountain. I’ve always been on my Bronson when climbing up there. This past weekend I did a 42-mile gravel ride through the mountains. The biggest thing I struggled with was figuring out how much water, calories, and carbs to bring. When it comes to hiking and mountain biking, I know exactly what I need, but gravel biking was a bit of a new area for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ended up mapping out my route and adding waypoints for every water source so my bike computer would alert me when I was getting close. Luckily, this route had plenty of water sources, so I chose to filter water as I went instead of carrying a big, heavy bladder. I’ll share another post soon with everything I packed, because it worked out perfectly! I feel like the poseidonbike finally got a proper, proper ride, haha! As you guys know, my goal this year is to complete a 100-mile gravel ride in a day. Always love pushing myself cardio-wise and doing hard things, haha. corosglobal was kind enough to send me their DURA bike computer to help with my training. I’ve used bike computers in the past, but it always takes me a bit to figure out all the features. The DURA, though, is super intuitive right from the start. Plus, it’s solar powered! 🙌🏻 I love how it breaks down all my stats and even gives me recovery time insights. Also, don’t come for me, lol. Weekend highlights from the slopes. ✨🏂 At this point, I’ve probably told everyone about this place, but if you haven’t been yet, just trust me and go. The owners took an old 1970s ski resort and set out to bring Vail to the East Coast without the Vail prices, and oh, did they succeed. The upscale feel, the vibey lodge with its cozy coffee shop, and a retail store stocked with Lululemon, Helly Hansen, and more. And don’t even get me started on smokeandtimber828. The dishes are inspired by Debrah Hatley’s grandmothers and they’re absolutely next level. Banana bread pudding. 🤤 I’ll leave it at that, lol. hatleypointe has only been open for two months now, and every time I visit, I get more excited hearing everyone talk about what’s coming next. They’ve capped the number of people on the mountain, so even on a sold-out day, the longest you’ll ever wait in line is 10 minutes max.
