There’s a common misconception that faster tempo automatically means a higher level and makes the choreography unsuitable for beginners. I disagree. Emotions live in the body and when we don’t move, we don’t process. Unprocessed trauma and stress don’t just “go away.” They settle in the body: in our posture, muscle tone, breath, and movement patterns. 🧠 The body stores trauma in the nervous system. When we freeze, flight, or fight, our nervous system activates survival responses. If we don’t physically complete those responses (like shaking, running, or crying), the energy stays trapped in the body. 🫁 Trauma blocks body awareness (interoception). Traumatized people often become disconnected from physical sensations. Dance and mindful movement help reconnect brain and body, making healing possible. 🦶Rhythmic movement (like dance) regulates the brain. It stimulates the brainstem, helping calm hyperarousal and restore a sense of safety. It also activates the vagal nerve, supporting emotional regulation. It’s here! Our special beginner level choreo for thefield.paris is out 😍🙌🏻 This choreo came out fast, fun and unexpectedly meaningful to me personally. I made it for our course in France to prove one thing: speed doesn’t equal complexity. You don’t need advanced tricks to move fast. If you have structure, you can succeed in speed version even if at the beginning it feels terrifying 🤭. Speed trains how your brain and body talk to each other. It might look there’s no difference but check the position of the arms: they work at three levels and if you try the same move, you will notice that physically they get more difficult when you get higher.
