- Oh how I missed you, Germany, and your cold, rainy July days 😂. Managed to pack an outfit for a wedding, my dirndl (also needed for the wedding), both work laptops, and everything else in my classic carry on suitcase and personal item (work backpack this time). My biggest personal finance travel tip is to avoid flying to Europe in the middle of summer during the Euro Cup because it will be expensive 😅✈️. Hope everyone is having a lovely summer! - I set a goal of hiking 50+ miles over 5 days. 🥾 This may not seem crazy, considering how some folks hike the entire 2,190+ miles of the Appalachian Trail. ⛺ But I had only been camping a handful of times, let alone section hiking. ⛰️ On Day 4, after hiking the highest peak in Georgia, my friend and I almost had to turn around. We pitched our tent in a downpour while thunder and lightning filled the sky. While huddled in the tent, we assessed our gear. I realized how critical a few of the items I had carried on my back were, including: 💧 a rain poncho, 💤 dry bags for my sleeping kit, 🧦 extra socks, and a change of clothes. These essentials let us move forward despite the 2-hour storm. ⚡ It was a reminder that rainy days are inevitable, both on the trail and in life (as cheesy as that sounds!) And while we can’t always predict them, we can prepare for them. 💰 An emergency fund and creating financial contingency plans for your “worst case scenarios” help safeguard your financial health against the unexpected. Similar to how we were able to continue towards our end goal, being prepared means you can weather the storm without derailing your financial goals. 💲 And when life happens, the less you need to stress about the financial aspect of a difficult situation, the more resilient you will be. 🌲📷 Photos from the hike! We hiked a Georgia section on the Appalachian Trail (Springer Mountain to Unicoi Gap). If you section hike, I’d love to hear your trail stories 😁. And if you've never done anything like this, would you consider it? #appalachiantrail #personalfinance #financialhealth #financialwellness
