- Today, experienced two things. One - saw a teenager walking and his staff carrying his bag (almost the same age) Actually this is very common in Kolkata, not sure about other cities. The moment kids come out of school, they fling their bags at their staffs (generally much older in age). I am not talking about babies/ toddlers here. I personally feel, too much of comfort (actually unnecessary comfort is the word) makes them so dependent on everyone that they can’t carry out one chore themself in future. Because they don’t have the habit only. Everything comes to them in a decorated platter that also someone else is waiting to feed them. This is raising weak, low resilient kids. I am not saying that don’t give comfort, but this extra 🤐 Rethink! You might be harming your kids this way. Two - There was water logging today. Some cars slowed down and made sure not to splash water on the pedestrians. Some just didn’t bother and kept driving in full speed. Maybe they never walked on the road. I feel if our kids don’t see both sides of the world, one- they will never value what they have and two- they will never be humble and kind towards the other side. That’s why we make sure we leave our cars at home on few days and use public transport or just walk. Just an example. And what is this fascination with talking in English. Unknowingly, even I do that. But it’s so wrong. In a room full of people who don’t understand English, I will still say Beta English mein bolo. It’s no longer a means of communication, it’s a status symbol. So we’ve made a rule, if someone talks in Hindi or whatever language u speak, reply back in that. Simple. And trust me in future, kids who are culturally rooted will be way cooler! Shutting up on Emotions- that’s what we have been doing for so many years. Parents hardly hug us or kiss us freely. And to boys, we’ve always said Boys Don’t Cry, are you a Girl etc etc. Let’s break this cycle and encourage all kids to speak up, communicate freely in any situation. Phase 2: Oral Rehydration Start with tiny sips - not full glasses. ✅ Give: ORS (Check my video on Fake ORS) Tender coconut water Jeera (cumin) water - boiled and cooled, very diluted Barley Water Homemade rice water (kanji ka paani) Fresh Pomegranate or Apple Juice 🚫 Avoid: * Canned Fruit juice, soda, milk, or anything sweet or oily * Spicy, fried or fermented foods ✅ After Vomiting Stops (at least 4–6 hours without vomiting) Start with very soft, easy to digest foods 1. Moong dal water or moong dal khichdi (very soft, no spices) 2. Ragi Kanji 3 Curd rice 4. Steamed apple puree 5. Plain toast with Vegetable Soup 6. Suji upma 7. Poha soaked in water/curd 8. Mashed ripe banana (only if vomiting has completely stopped) ✨When things are in control- give steamed raw banana/sweet potato to bind the stool 🍠 🚨 Watch Closely * No improvement in 24 hours? * Still vomiting fluids? * Fever rising or signs of dehydration? ➡️ Go to a pediatrician or ER immediately.
