“I was lucky enough to be invited to go hiking with some friends I made at CICATA to Cerro el Zamorano. We got lost and hiked a few extra miles, pero a eso fuimos 🤷‍♂️

Daniel and I have gone out and about to explore and while walking home we once got caught in some rain and had to camp under an overhang before an uber rescued us. 🏎️

The Rubik’s cube is a personal best time I got at an ungodly hour of the evening. 🌚

Most recently, I checked out UAQ, a nearby university (don’t tell the IPN folk)”

Asael Acosta, a first year studying Earth and Planetary Sciences, is interning at CICATA in Querétaro this summer, where he is working on detecting and tracking tropical cyclones using machine learning and remote sensing 🌀

“Health care is a focus for neuroscience major Amy Wang ’26, who hopes to pursue medicine and potentially obtain a master’s degree in public health. As a Spanish minor, she also wants to become fluent to improve her practice. She recently conducted a MISTI summer internship at the Neurobiology Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

There, she sharpened her language skills. But, just as important, she learned how laboratories function in other countries. While she’d spent plenty of time in US laboratories working with mice, it was eye-opening to explore how other countries conducted research.”
