There are some things about corporate culture here that Japan has wanted to improve on but as you know old habits die hard, especially in small to middle-sized companies like mine.
Our HR department over here consists of one single lady, who is not only responsible for all employees but also the reception desk! She tries her best, but the older men at work are hard to keep at bay 🙃

I was invited to a networking event here in Tokyo recently where I met the friendly guys over at itoen.jp_official
They eagerly explained all about their green tea to me and told me about their museum in Shimbashi!
They said I could meet their mascot there so obviously I had to go ✨
The museum is free of charge so take a look at it if you like the Itoen brand and their tea. The matcha they serve there was pretty good as well 😌✨

Our beloved main office manager still throws in English words when speaking to me even after working here for over three years. I wonder if he wants to practice his English or just tries to make things easier to understand 🤔
Mr. F has family in the US so he always proudly tells me about his ‚granddaughter‘ (said in English) 🥺✨it’s very cute! I tend to answer with the Japanese word for grandchild (mago) tho so I think my brain is confused at the switch up.
It’s like my brain needs to translate it back to Japanese to understand!

No way I can keep up!
I feel like Japan has made me way more patient and tolerant (for better or worse) - I used to feel on edge when people told me about someone cheating on their spouse or when people sexualized or stereotyped me. It was all something that I hadn’t experienced much before.
Now I’ve learnt not to mind things that don’t affect me directly and embrace what comes my way.
There are many ways in which people choose to lead their lives and many more opinions out there. Japan has taught me that it’s possible to walk my own path and still be in harmony with my surroundings.
I did start to unconsciously bow and cover my mouth a lot though. What is up with that.
