1 week after Challenge Almere already, and the body is finally starting to come back to life. Slowly restarting the training, looking forward to train towards some more races. Also something very cool coming soon 😮‍💨😏 2025-09-20 12:26:27 1 week after C.. 258 -92% 3 -93%

7th place challengealmere in 7h54.

Man, this year has been such a big struggle, both physically and mentally. So happy to be back racing and finishing another solid full distance.

More later.

Time to switch the 35 degrees in Spain for the 20 degrees in the Netherlands. Couple of weeks of flat and windy riding coming up in preparation for my hometown race. 2025-08-18 16:56:40 Time to switch the 35 deg.. 270 -92% 3 -93%
Coming back from a sacral stress fracture means one thing, be really careful not to overdo it. The rebuild to running fully again took weeks, but I’m so happy to be logging solid distances now.

I’m still not at the level I want (or need) to be, and with triathloninside Triathlon Epe next week and challengealmere in four weeks, time’s running out to get into peak shape. And honestly, I’m not even sure I’ll get there in time.

But here’s what matters most: I’m healthy, I’m moving, and I’m ready to toe the start line again.

It feels like my season is just beginning, so let’s get it! 2025-08-14 15:33:56 Comin.. 289 -91% 13 -68%

We are back baby! It feels so damn good to be back running, after a sacral stress fracture kept me from running for over 2 months. Being able to do 3 different training sessions a day truly makes you feel like a triathlete again! Still baby steps though, slowly but surely we’ll rebuild again. The hunger to still perform this year in a couple of races is bigger then ever! 2025-07-15 22:32:34 We are back baby! It fe.. 298 -91% 18 -55%

Little insight in the amazing time for my first visit to Font Romeu! 3 weeks flew by, and some good training has been done. We were extremely lucky with the weather, which made the stay extra nice!

Having some big FOMO with watching Frankfurt last Sunday, and with Roth coming up this weekend would have loved to race straight after the camp, but obviously that will have to wait for a little bit. Feeling confident that soon I can slowly restart with my running sessions. For now it’s time to leave the thin air behind, and try to get acclimated to the real Spanish heat again! 2025-07-01 17:37:03 Little insight in the a.. 148 -96% 4 -90%
Week 2 in Font Romeu ✅. Especially some solid hours and sessions on the bike and some beautiful scenery to ride through. One more week before trading the mountain air back for the Girona heat 🚴‍♂️⛰️☀️

1 week into Font Romeu camp, some hiking, some biking, some gymming and some swimming ☀️ 2025-06-18 00:00:12 1 week into Font Rome.. 195 -94% 6 -85%
This season of racing was supposed to look very different. I had big goals and a plan in place, but sometimes the body has other ideas.

For the past few weeks, just before Lanza, I’d been dealing with a persistent pain in my hip. I gave it time, hoping it would settle, but after four weeks with a lot of treatments, but without much improvement, I finally went in for an MRI. The result: a stress fracture in my left sacrum. Obviously not what I wanted to hear, but now I at least know I wasn’t turning crazy.

Challenge Roth would’ve been my next race. It would be my first time racing there, something I’d been looking forward to for a long time, but obviously will have to wait. After Lanza, I shifted my plans and chose Roth, heading to Font Romeu to prep for it properly, eager for some altitude training and to escape the heat in Girona.

Can’t lie, it’s mentally pretty tough to go out for swims and rides, whenever you don’t even know what you’re training for. However, I’ve still decided to go to Font, but with a different goal: reset, get some thin air, and enjoy the weeks with some good and motivated people around. Get some nice swims and bike rides in and here and there some hiking with Alfie boy.

This sport gives a lot, but it also asks for patience. You can’t play the cards you wish you had, you play the ones you’re dealt. 2025-06-12 22:01:29 Thi.. 250 -93% 16 -60%

Quick trip to Amsterdam for the wedding of donnajvd. Time to head back to Girona to restart most of the training. Still haven’t been able to train properly since Lanzarote, but major (bone) damage doesn’t seem the case, so hopefully back up and running soon! Some very cool plans for the upcoming 1.5 months are being made! 2025-05-25 19:44:09 Quick trip to Amsterd.. 240 -93% 3 -93%
Lanzarote hasn’t been my best place so far. 2nd year in a row that I’m leaving the island without having achieved what I came for.

The lead up towards the race has been great, but only 1 week out of the race I started to experience pains in the body on different places, which already made it almost impossible to run. In raceweek I’ve had multiple treatments by specialists, in order to try and make me ready to race. I started, I swam, I biked, but it was impossible to run like what I prepared for, already having problems with running in & out of the water, to my bike, during the 2nd part of the bike etc.

I am somebody who finishes what they start, and don’t quit. In the past I’ve finished bad races walking. But for this time, I decided to not even start the marathon in order to prevent any further damage to the body. Big disappointment for myself, and feeling sad to disappoint the people in my corner.

Moments like these make you realize again that you need to cherish the moments when you’ve got a healthy body. For now it’s time to figure out what’s causing the problems, look forward again and make new plans. 2025-05-20 14:19:31 Lanzarote.. 198 -94% 8 -80%

There’s something special about seeing a vision take shape, when ideas turn into something real.

Proud to finally reveal my 2025 race suit, right in time for ironmanlanzarote. Just landed on the island, focused and ready. Everything we’ve worked for gets put to the test this week. Let’s go to work.

Some more images from the racing on Sunday. Nice to get going again, and also really nice that I was home already on Sunday evening 😅. Just a couple of days easy, and then it’s time to start the first IRONMAN training block of the year!

First hit out of the 25’ season done! 7th place at the infinitrihalf. Still some work needs to be done on especially the bike, but actually really happy with maybe my best and fastest runs in a half distance ever! Nice battle with yvanjrrg, running for the last 10km within 10seconds of each other. Eventually he, and Pevtsov, both got the upper hand of me, and I finished 7th, within 1min20 of the podium.

Lovely weekend with naomimariexx in Peñiscola done. Now the work continues towards Lanza! Feels like we’re on the right track! 2025-04-06 17:34:33 First hit out of the.. 318 -91% 11 -73%

March dump. Tricky month with a lot of rain made it necessary to be flexible with the training plan. Asked a lot of my body, with more higher pace workouts then usual. Can definitely feel like my speed has improved a bit, but was also really tired the days after the hard workouts.

Next week it’s time for me to see where I’m currently standing, at the infinitrihalf in Peñíscola. And after that, I am really looking forward to start the first proper IRONMAN training phase! 2025-03-29 23:33:30 March dump. Tricky .. 244 -93% 10 -75%
