At the end of this workshop, you will gain knowledge, inspiration, and a cultural understanding of what Día de Muertos means so that you can also build an altar that celebrates your loved ones at home.

![Viva Mexico! 🇲🇽 My mom and her cousin dressed up in honor of Mexican Independence Day circa 1963.
On a more personal note, celebrating being Mexican-American feels more important than ever before.
This year has been extremely difficult to witness the number of ICE raids happening all over the United States and separating families. I will never understand why there is so much hate. It is inhumane!
As a Mexican-American, it has always felt difficult to speak on these issues because it brings back lots of painful memories from childhood and beyond. But as a new mom, I feel a tremendous responsibility not to stay silent.
I am angered and saddened by the videos of families being traumatized and torn apart, but I will continue to celebrate my Mexican-American identity with pride and not stay silent.
I will also continue to share stories from my ancestral homeland with love and optimism because that is what my culture has taught me.
We invite people in. We are nurturing. We are loving. And we are proud of our roots! 🇲🇽
I am so inspired by members of my community who are sharing resources and choosing not to stay silent. I will also continue to share resources here with my community.
