I haven’t posted much this year - not because anything was wrong, but honestly because I’ve just been trying to be present. So much has shifted… and I think I’ve been processing it all in real time. It’s been a year of transition. A year of letting go. A year of realizing that the moment I stopped trying to do everything my way and just surrendered, God started moving things in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I’ve been through some real losses…including a business I put so much hope into. That one was tough. It really felt like the rug got pulled from under me. But I can honestly say that what came after: the divine connections, the unexpected people, the new opportunities…they reminded me that nothing is ever wasted. Some doors closed, but better ones opened. Quietly, but powerfully. To my friends: thank you for seeing me. For celebrating me even when I go quiet. I know I’m not always the easiest to reach - I stay on the go, trying to build something meaningful, trying to figure it out in real time. But your love this weekend reminded me that I’m surrounded by real ones. And that means everything to me. And to the love of my life… thank you for being such a big part of this last year. Just saw a reel from another makeup artist saying she’s ready to retire after 10 years…not because she doesn’t love the work, but because she’s completely burnt out. And I truly felt that. People really don’t realize how much goes into this job unless they’ve lived it. It’s not just brushes and glam; It’s emotional, it’s spiritual and it’s personal. We’re not just doing faces We’re holding space We’re absorbing energy - good, bad, uncertain, all of it. We’re navigating people’s nervous systems, confidence, trauma, expectations… And sometimes, that energy sticks to you long after the last touch-up!! 😫 That’s why I’ve had to shift the way I move in this work so I don’t burn out, or lose myself in the process. Here’s what’s been helping me stay grounded and aligned: 1. Creating other streams of income that don’t rely on me physically showing up 2. Being super intentional about who I take on because energy matters 3. Letting rest be part of the process, not just the reward 4. Releasing guilt around pivoting - creativity evolves! 5. Talking to other artists and healers openly (even when it’s messy) This industry needs more honesty around burnout not necessarily to give up, but to rebuild with more care, more boundaries, more us.
