- it’s been over a month since my little unplanned social media break 🥹 life has been full — my sister got married, and on top of that my Instagram had login issues and i just never bothered to fix it until i came back to London. maybe it was just Allah’s way of telling me to slow down. to be present. to live in the moments you can’t get back. The posting could wait 🩷✨🙏 no one prepares you for the feeling of giving a sister away. romi has always felt like my first child, my shadow, my best friend, my soft place. watching her as a bride was… everything at once. pride, love, gratitude, a little ache in the heart. marriage in our deen is half our faith. two people from different families, different stories & Allah writes them together. it’s so beautiful when you think about it. love isn’t just feelings, it’s worship. it’s building a little piece of jannah in your home. and romi, you’ve always had this way of making simple things beautiful. i know you’ll bring that same beauty into your marriage, into the quiet everyday moments. so my advice to you & to all to all the sisters on here beginning their new lives learn the things that bring you peace, and protect them & when life feels heavy, meet each other on the prayer mat. that space will carry you when nothing else can. because marriage isn’t just about choosing each other once. it’s about choosing again and again, for the sake of Allah. and in that choosing, you get closer to Him. they say the people you love become mosaics inside you, little pieces that shape who you are. my sister, you made me softer. you taught me to notice the beauty in details. you remind me to slow down. and now i pray your marriage does the same for you that it makes you softer, closer, stronger. that it fills your heart with sakinah. and that the love between you becomes a bridge back to Allah.
- My sweet little girls on Eid. A belated Eid Mubarak to you all 🩷 For seven months, we kept her face just for us and haven’t properly introduced her. She was our quiet little prayer, not yet meant for the world. As you all know, her name is Sophia. It means pure, and somehow, that’s exactly what she brought into our lives. Her beginning was tough. Her entrance into this world was full of tests. But from that hardship came something sweet. A stillness. A reminder of what really matters. Sophia has already taught me more than I can put into words. She’s reminded me that this world is temporary. that every long night eventually fades, every ache softens, and every storm passes. She reminded me of Maryam, who gave birth alone, beneath a tree, with no one but Allah to witness her tears. Of Hajar, running between the mountains not knowing the outcome, only knowing that Allah sees the ones who run for their children. I pray Sophia walks in their footsteps, and I pray if you have girls they do too 🙏 That their purity isn’t lost in a world that rushes to consume. So this Eid, we finally are ready to shared her. In her little pink shalwar kameez, tiny dupatta and all 🥹🩷 sandwiched between me and big sis Hannah, just soaking up all the love (and trying to get one non blurry pic where all of us are smiling lol 😅) That she knows her worth is not in her face, but in the light of her soul. This is our Sophia. Our test, our healing. Our tiniest queen, says hello to you all 👑🎀
- Snippets from my sister’s Dua-e- Khair ✨🩷 a dua e khair is a gathering before the wedding, where loved ones come together to pray, asking Allah to fill a new journey with blessing for the new couple. & then there was Sophia, reminding us that life doesn’t pause for perfect moments. We had a poonami mid-dua, an outfit change into a babygrow (cue to the last photo). what i’ll never forget is how my friends became her second mothers that day (you know who you are if you’re reading this 🥹) holding her, playing with her, giving me the gift of being present. they say “the one who does not show mercy to our little ones, nor acknowledge the rights of our elders, is not of us” (hadith, Tirmidhi). that day, i saw mercy in action. and i left reminded: children bring their own barakah to our gatherings. 🤍 Mama’s, I’d love to hear how you navigate weddings with kids, maybe our shared experiences can be helpful to everyone reading ✨
