this cake deserves a permanent spot on the grid and I wanted to share my recipe, so here ya go… p.s. swipe to see who’s behind every food picture vanilla cake recipe: 4 cups almond flour 1/2 cup arrowroot powder 2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 6 large eggs 2/3 cup melted coconut oil 1 cup maple syrup 2tbsp vanilla 2 tsp lemon juice preheat oven to 325. In a large bowl mix dry ingredients and in another bowl mix wet ingredients. combine both and mix everything well. bake for 30-32 mins. let cake cool and while it’s doing its thing cooling off make the frosting. I made a traditional buttercream frosting and used beetroot powder to make it pink but you can whatever your little heart desires. I think the misconception is that love is easy and love is all you need. The thing is that love is hard and it’s not all you need. It takes work- a lot of work. Love brings up triggers and having hard conversations. It takes empathy and compassion. It takes for us to slow down and calm our own nervous systems so we have the capacity to be open to each other. And that takes a lot of work and compassion. Collectively, as human beings, we need to start leading with love, compassion, empathy more so than ever. Without that we’re just going to see the same hurt, hatred, evil and suffering over and over again. The hatred in the world that I’ve been seeing and experiencing is shattering. It has to change. And it all starts within- the more we are able to be compassionate to ourselves, to love ourselves, to heal ourselves, to have the hard conversations, to be triggered, the more we will be able to do so for others. It’s human nature to focus more on the things that have gone wrong rather than what has gone right. It’s our default because our brain is biologically wired to protect us, not to keep us happy. But the good news is that we can train our brains to seek out the good things. The glimmers. The small micro moments that bring you joy, the people who make you feel safe, the animals who remind you to be present… really anything that brings you joy and ease.
