This entire experience has not been easy, and our entire routine is completely different right now. It makes me sad to think that some people may think this is extra or “too much work” for a dog. When I rescued Mags, I signed up to be the person that loves her unconditionally and always looks out for her. I would do anything to see her happy and healthy again. If that means changing my entire life, having to cancel multiple plans, revolve my entire routine around her, and barely leave a room…so be it!!! I finally left the house to be a human again, and are we even surprised I left to shop for Mags 😅💗 I needed a boost of serotonin after this week, and this was truly the best way to do that. This was such a cool shopping experience, and I was so impressed with the selection. I definitely bought a little too much, but every single item were things I have had my eyes on for months and months!! A little dog mom refresh for you guys 🤗 I seriously needed this SOOO bad. I told my boyfriend he can do whatever he wants, as long as I can have a couple hours to just feel like myself again. I have no problem taking care of my dog and she definitely prefers to be around me right now, but I am exhausted lol. my entire life has become dedicated to her right now, which I guess is pretty normal for me lol. However, its 10 times more intense with her medical needs right now. Feeling much better and more like myself again. Maggie Surgery Update! 😔 As some of you may have seen, Maggie had a vaginal mass removed on Thursday. Surgery went well, and the mass was fully removed and sent out for testing. The following day, Maggie went to stay with my mom while I had to work. My mom had taken Maggie out multiple times throughout the day, and noticed that she had yet to urinate since before surgery. After speaking with her surgeon and the surgical team, they had my mom bring her in and we decided to place a catheter. Due to the area the mass was removed, and to not delay her healing process, it was important that she was urinating regularly. The catheter was placed, and I took Maggie home. She instantly hated the catheter, and continued to try and scoot around, which we dont want. I had to crate her and keep her confined while I slept to ensure the catheter did not get ripped out. Of course, Mags hated this and cried the entire night meaning her momma got basically zero sleep. This morning, Maggie came with me to work which happens to be where the surgery was performed. Maggie did not do well at all and was becoming very agitated and anxious. Because of all the movement, her catheter began filling with blood which I was assured was normal given the situation. Obviously, I was terrified and willing to do anything to help her and ended up taking her home. We are still dealing with some blood in the catheter, but it has definitely improved and she is so much calmer now. She is definitely getting her mood and personality back, and its becoming a lot harder to restrict her movement. We are definitely in the rough patch of her recover, but I would do anything to help her heal and feel better. I have basically become a 24/7 dog nurse. The catheter is planned to be removed on Monday, and I truly cant wait. In the meantime, I will be giving meds, emptying catheters, and icing her poor little coochie 🫠 Thank you to everyone for the well wishes. Mags is getting surgery 😭🥺 As some of you may know from my stories, Maggie is getting a mass removed. I made the decision to go for a full mass removal, that will be sent out for testing. I am definitely freaking out, but I also just want to do whatever I can to get her feeling better again. We will face the next steps when we get there! I honestly feel like I am going to be more anxious and struggling with the change than Maggie. Not only am I worried about the surgery itself, but I’m very worried about the recovery process. Maggie and I are very active, love to bring her everywhere with me, and we both thrive on the routine we have. I don’t know how either one of us is going to survive for 2 to 3 weeks without any walks, but we will make it happen! I know how scary this process is, and I wanted to share some of it as we go along to show you guys how we are handling it and the ups and downs.
