Like the lovechild of an old school yacht, a 1970s Californian beach house and a log cabin in a forest, I can’t get enough of entirely timber-clad interiors right now. So warm and comforting and the perfect backdrop for art and fabric. Not quite right in a Victorian terrace in London but hopefully one day soon I’ll have a spot somewhere to drench in warm wood 🪵 2025-09-08 01:29:35 Like the lovechild.. 11,938 +125% 72 +50%
So in love with cathyhoryn beautiful Virginian farmhouse captured by seandavidson for archdigest. I feel grounded and calm just looking at it so can only imagine what it feels like to be in it. It’s soothing and quiet but also warm and cosy, the perfect antidote to living and breathing fashion. The mix of old and contemporary, the stonework, the porch swing and don’t even get me started on those flowers… ❣️ amyastley 2025-08-11 14:13:22 So in love with.. 7,012 +32% 38 -21%

Tomorrow is the day and our rugs will be available to shop (wah) so time to meet Acres, my third and final design for pelican_house inspired by the English countryside and growing up on a farm.

A traditional flat weave rug, I drew lots of inspiration from Swedish kilims, Portuguese Arraiolos and traditional folk art and wanted all the different motifs and elements to reflect different aspects of home. The patchwork of fields surrounded by hedgerows, the wheat my dad farms (Dad, this song is for you!!), the swallows that come home every summer to nest that my mum is obsessed with… This was the hardest rug to nail down but we got there and I couldn’t love it more. Massive thank you to pelican_house for not giving up on this one - or me! - and bringing it all to life ❤️ ph. milobrown_photography

Meet Nisi 🐟 💫 🇬🇷

Nisi translates to island in Greek and it’s exactly these special islands that inspired my second rug design for pelican_house. A true hellenophile to my core, I wanted to transport myself to sun-drenched tavernas and sandy beaches even in the middle of winter in London. I’ve always loved neoclassical patterns like the Greek key and those naive drawings of fish you see dotted around the cobbled streets of local Choras so those two elements were a must. Made from plush hand-tufted 100% New Zealand wool, Nisi launches on Wednesday 26th. 💫 ph milobrown_photography 2025-03-24 02:31:08 Meet N.. 2,875 -46% 41 -15%
This spring(ish) weather is making me think of gardens and the lack of greenery that’s springing up in mine this year. The end of last year was so busy our little garden got really neglected so I’m not holding much hope for an abundance of growth this year but trying to play catch-up as best I can. I have ZERO green thumbs but love a beautiful garden and watching the Martha documentary has inspired me/determined me to at least be able to grow something from scratch and try a bit harder to hone those skills. But in the meantime here are some examples of what I deem perfect gardens. Yes it helps that they’re all mostly huge (lol) but it’s those wild borders and mown pathways that get me every time. 🌿🥕🤍 2025-03-23 02:33:55 This spr.. 13,746 +159% 57 +19%

You might have realised this by now, but my toxic trait is always needing to have a home project on the go and our kitchen dining area is the latest spot to get a tweakment.

A new upholstered banquette in fermoie stripes with cobalt piping has made our dining table a cosy nook in its own right and like all the best tweakments, it looks like it’s always been there. All the details, every link and every part of the process is in my latest Substack post that just went live today (I’ve linked to it in my stories). 🥣 2025-02-27 01:36:24 You might have rea.. 15,966 +201% 214 +345%

My teeny study renovation which has been a long, very long, time in the works, is so almost there now.

Just an updated window dressing to go… It was worth the wait to get it right; I’m SO pleased with how it’s turning out. A dumping ground no more, it now has a glowy, warmth to it that almost draws me in from the hallway. Which is lucky as the motivation to sit down at my desk is still kind of lacking…

Wishing you all a very, very merry Christmas from us and a huge thank you for all your support this year. From every like, share and comment, to your Substack subscriptions and support for my collaborations and House and Garden curations… it all means so much and nothing goes unnoticed or unappreciated. ❤️

And a special thank you to all of you who donated to my crisis_uk Christmas appeal to support the homeless this Christmas. It’s a brilliant charity that helps with everything from hot meals and haircuts to supporting government reform and housing policy to help people have a safe place to call home. For all of us interiors lovers and homebodies, I felt like it was the perfect fundraiser this Christmas as we all cherish being cosy at home.

We’ve nearly raised £6k (!!) which I’ll match and round up to the nearest £1K so thank you thank you. The fundraiser will end on Jan 4th 2025 so if any of you would still like to donate, you’ve got another 10 days to do so. 🙏🏼 2024-12-24 22:59:49 Wis.. 3,243 -39% 11 -77%
Slightly haphazard, low-fi decorating this year but still making the house feel extra cosy and festive. I really went to town last year with paper chains and hanging decorations in the kitchen but lack of time this year and a post-hip operation husband meant we were kind of limited with what we could do (no standing on ladders for him!). Luckily my idea of Christmas decorating has never been about being perfect! I’ve always loved that folky, home-spun kind of Christmas decor.

I do love that I have ett___hem faux fir garlands going up the stairs this year as growing up we always had these at home, with paper maché red apples and tartan bows tied onto it in true 80s/90s style. I opted for random bits of ribbon I’ve saved throughout the year from parcels which actually kind of worked. And having a big mantlepiece garland from theamazing wildathearteurope has been such a treat this year. Even more of that fresh pine tree smell in the house!

But it’s the trio of Christmas tree lights, wood fire and lots of candles in our snug where that festive feeling really kicks in ❤️ 2024-12-18 18:14:55 Slightly hapha.. 1,267 -76% 12 -75%

Home is so important to me and I’m sure it is to you too. At this time of year, when we all love being cosy and decorating for Christmas, it feels especially poignant thinking about those without anywhere to call home and in need of support.

Over 300,000 people are currently classed as homeless in the U.K with an estimated 12,000 people sleeping rough in London tonight. Everybody deserves a safe place to call home and Crisis is a charity I’ve long supported privately. From hot meals, haircuts and community at Christmas to long term advice, support and government campaigns, Crisis works to end the vicious cycle of homelessness for good.

I thought we could club together this year and I’ll be matching what we donate up to £10K so let’s try and get there before Christmas. ❤️ 2024-12-05 15:15:37 Home is so i.. 3,144 -41% 27 -44%

Another round of candlelit party pics from celebrations with feldsparstudio last week at home to launch our new collaborative collection. It’s always a great feeling when you get to see the final pieces of a project slot seamlessly into your house after months of doodles, concepts and daydreams. Even better when other people like them too! The collection is made up of a candelabra, wall sconce, candlestick and a candle snuffer, all of which are available on Feldspar’s website now.

Turned my Victorian terrace into the Practical Magic house for the night to celebrate my new collaboration with Devon-based ceramics studio feldsparstudio - a collection of fine bone china candlesticks, candelabras, sconces and snuffers for celebrating the nights drawing in.

Thank you to all the wonderful friends old and new who came round for candlelit drinks and chats at home. So very excited to share my latest collaboration with Devon-based ceramics brand feldsparstudio, designed with my love of cosy candlelit nights in mind.

I first fell in love with Feldspar’s perfectly imperfect ceramics when my husband gave me a set of espresso cups as a present. I don’t even drink espresso but they were my new favourite thing. Fast forward 6 years and multiple sets of pasta bowls and dinner plates later, I’m so proud of this new collection of ceramic candlesticks, wall sconces and snuffers we’ve designed together, all painted in my favourite shade of blue.

The clocks have gone back and it can feel harder summoning the energy just to leave the house sometimes, but I actually love embracing this time of year and making hibernation season a joy rather than a drag. From dinner round the kitchen table for 2 or 20, to a night curled up in front of the TV, I’m a big fan of candlelight for setting the scene and creating a cosy sense of occasion.

A celebration of British craftsmanship, every piece is handmade in Feldspar’s studio nestled in a rural valley with an orchard on one side and grazing sheep on the other. Seeing the process first hand has given me a whole new level of respect for the skill and ingenuity involved in bringing these pieces to life. This has been the nicest project to work on (and a lovely excuse for trips to Devon even if I was the literal bull in a china shop) and I’m so happy I can share it all with you now. 🤍 2024-10-31 15:04:28 So very .. 1,687 -68% 40 -17%
