Pepper Ann Hines is her name, today she is turning 71 (if she ask tell her I said she just turned 38, I sent her money to eat too so she good 😂😂😂). I can remember all of the lessons this Goddess gave me as a kid, on being a gentleman as well as becoming a MAN!!! I am the man I am today because of this WOMAN, with a fighting never quit spirit, that would stare danger in the eyes and tell it to try harder!! I am beyond blessed that I chose her to be my mom, and I am eternally grateful for the infinite unconditional love she has poured in to me and continues to pour in to me!!! I was a wild child, many times my mom could have and maybe should have given up on me, but instead she held me tighter and reminded me no matter what, she is my momma and she always going to have my back!!! From coming to the school to pick me up from ISS, to being at all my football games, showing up to my probates, all the etiquette lessons (although I protested many times) and giving me reassurance in my darkest of days I know what LOVE is and I know how to give love all because of this woman!!! Yemaya calls to me often, and today I answered!!! My first trip to the beach this year and in this brief outing I got everything I came for! Sunshine, grounding, movement, moments of stillness, and a little inversion. Word to the ancestor Dr. Delbert Blair!! Often times we let the hustle and bustle of everyday life take us away from enjoying and witnessing God in her purest form!!! Albeit a brief trip, the time spent here today nurtured my inner child so much!! Reminiscing on those beach days as a kid!! On March 7, the big homie called up one of his most loyal servants!! The patriarch of my family, my dad’s dad, mi abuelo Harry William Lawrence Jr., took his journey to the upper room!!! Anytime I think of my grandfather two phrases come to mind, his greeting “How you percolating?” & his farewell “Take heed, and govern yourself accordingly!” Anytime I saw him, he would always start and end our encounters with those words!! I never took them for granted and I am happy that he shared them with me!! I never knew much about my grandfather, I’m learning more now from my pops; but I do know he loved my grandma all dirty drawls, he was a hard worker and worked at a tobacco factory for forever; he lost a piece of his pinky on that job, he always could be a bright light in the darkest room, he was a family man, and HE LOVED GOLF!!! When he was alive we never really got the opportunity to play together, he may never have even seen me hit a golf ball; but today and everyday forward I know he is right there with me whenever I come to the range or actually play some rounds!! I will carry the Lawrence family name on with pride, rest easy Grandpa!! I love you, now you can be with Grandma, the love of ya life!! What an eventful week last week was!!! Let me do a slight recap (which I meant to do on Sunday but here we are now, TMI but 🤷🏽‍♂️😁) ~ Breathe Good at Hollywood Park led by namastemarleyrae (small snippet of what you can expect in “Loco Flow” 🤪) ~ Pulled up on my peoples and checked out their improv comedy show thoroughly enjoyed it atika.greene twonmarcelpope fashionsexmusic ~ Soft launch of The WalkGood Yard & celebrating my good brother walkgoodetienne B🌍day (see what I did there), Momma WalkGood aka thesherylleeralph was not going for it, she still sang though 🤣🤣 ~ Led some brothers through a nice Yin/Yang flow for “You Good?”, with a meditation/journaling led by walkgoodetienne and a dynamic sound bath led by leelonn ~ Followed by a packed house for “You Good Gyal?” ivycoco23 took them into a meditation and namastemarleyrae got them moving and flowing ~ Ended the night making a TikTok for krystalallen and her Super Christmas spirited self; she had a wreath making party, it was actually awesome (don’t tell her I said it) ~ Tada!!! This past weekend I had the opportunity to celebrate three years with walkgoodla!!! Seeing someone’s IG story with about 50 black folk doing yoga in the park, I knew I had to check it out and it’s even better in person!!! I have told them all before, but this space truly saved my life. The community and love is infinite. They have poured in to me, and are one of the main catalysts for why I stand before you as a full fledged yogi!! Stepping into my purpose!!! My heart is still full from the opportunity my walkgoodla family granted me this past Saturday!!!
