- When it comes to depression it’s really about identifying the cause of the ups and downs👇🏾 With High functioning depression, it feels difficult to overcome because you’re still functioning and you’ve learned how to incorporate it into your everyday life. But there are always signs; here were some of my signs: 1. Increased Cravings 2. Loss of Interests/ Inspirations 3. Difficulty Concentrating 4. Feelings of worthlessness 5. Doom scrolling 6. Increased Comparison 7. Self sabotage 8. Increased Sleep Disturbances 9. Increased Self-Criticizing 10. Always feeling empty regardless of accomplishments These are just a few symptoms that I’ve dealt with on a daily basis. Over the course of these past two years I’ve taken time to observe the “onset” of the depressive episodes and how long they’ve lasted. Each time I’ve struggled, the source of the breakdown was either the lack of following through or the inability to self-advocate which would then lead to self-criticizing followed by self loathing and doom scrolling which caused me to neglect my responsibilities allowing the cycle to begin again. Today, I’d be lying if I told you that I know the all the answers and I’ve overcome it. To be honest, I’m still trying to keep my head above water. But what I do know; is the cause of the depressive episodes. Therefore, I’m taking the steps to find preventative solutions. Going to the gym and moving my body consistently is my first preventative solution. As I learn more, I will share more❤️ #moveyourbody
