12 years since I told Thiago, “You should get a job here.”

12 years since I set foot in NYC for the first time and immediately fell in love with it. A city that I had never dreamed about visiting it.

12 years since the trip that changed my life.

It’s so fascinating to look back and realizing how a single event can change the path of your journey…

🥳🎉New solutions from dreame.usa to save time when cleaning and getting your hair done!

If there’s one thing I really appreciate in life is smart and efficient technology that can save my time. It’s the best return of investment, lol.

I’ve been familiar with dreame.usa for a while, since we got a super smart vacuum mop robots from the brand two years ago and it’s literally a life-saver (especially when you have a pet or kids).

They are introducing so many incredible products that deliver even more efficiency when cleaning the house - from hand vacums to wet and dry vacumms (I’M OBSSESSED!) and even smarter vacuum mop robots - I mean, can your robot climb stairs? - cleaning the house has never been so easy and quick.

And guess what - they are using their know-how to also create smart hair technology - from hair dryer to hair stylers, the possibilities are endless.

NYC DIARIES - EVERYTHING I DID IN JULY AND IT’S WORTH SHARING!

rosciolinyc - I celebrated my birthday with a dinner at this place. This is a very traditional Roman restaurant with a location in NYC (the Italian location was recommended by Anthony Bourdain). Besides the Roman Feast, they also offer À la Carte.

loulou.nyc - We had a delicious dinner at this place in Chelsea. Not only does the restaurant feature beautiful decor, with indoor and outdoor seating and super-friendly staff, but the food is delicious.

qcspa - I can’t get enough of this place. Such a gem, such a nice escape from the city! Love the outdoor pools and the views (and the birthday special is a smart way to visit and save some money).

fromlucienyc - cute little cake spot in the East Village with delicious and beautiful cakes. The owner was raised in the French countryside, and her cakes are inspired by that.

itsmrcapri - in a city expensive like NYC, I’d say their happy hour is a great deal!

rivarenonyc - new gelato spot in the city and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their flavors

sugarhillicecream - on the same topic, this ice cream shop with a few locations in the city always amazes me with their unique and delicious flavors

thecookieodyssey - This downtown cookie spot just opened a location in the Upper East Side, and as someone who really loves cookies, I had to stop by to try! The ginger chocolate is def unique!

fleetfeetnyc - as a runner, I was amazed by this store! Their 3D foot scanning service is incredible and free. The staff is so friendly and they have so much knowledge.

dimsumgogo can’t wait to go back to this place as well. Such an authentic gem in Chinatown (and prices are really good!).

🇫🇷11 RESTAURANTS TO TRY IN PARIS - SAVE THIS POST!

Finally sharing this list! I had the opportunity to try so many places in Paris - there was plenty of time since I stayed there for a month. Here are my favorites, the ones I would definetely be back!

🍕 peppe.family - I’ve been to both their locations. Authentic Napoletanean pizza - honestly, you can go wrong here. The dough is just... magical? EDIT: 6 locations in Paris!

🍲 hanoi.1988.saovang - located at Île Saint-Louis. Casual spot serving delicious Vietnamise food.

🍣 handohandroll - I absolutely LOVE hand rolls and besides the beautiful enviroment, the hand rolls are so fresh and delicious. My sister and her husband also loved the food (and their appetizers should not be ignored!).

🥮 la.galetterie - for savory crepes. Found this place by chance and it didn’t disappoint!

🍤 abuela_restaurante - love Spanish tapas and this place is a gem. Their tortilla de patatas is perfect!

🥘 evi.evane - delicious Greek food!

🥩 freddys.paris - for modern tapas. Casual and cool bar. Order a bunch of tapas to share and be happy!

🧆 tavlineparis - love Mediterranean food and this Israeli restaurant serves delicious dishes!

🍽️ jaja.resto - modern bistro with a beautiful environment. The dessert was so refreshing, as well as the ceviche.

🍲 Tamarind - for Thai food - their curry was so so so flavorful!

🍷 les_resistants - not only loved their mission - using seasonal and local ingredients - but, of course, their food. The desserts were so unique!

SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE! 🕵️‍♀️

spyscape is the #1 rated experiential museum in New York City. They bring to life the true stories of real-world spies and heroes - from Cold War traitors and WWII heroines to teenage hackers and cyber investigators.

Beyond the museum, you can test your own skills through spygamesofficial - designed with CIA and Special Ops operatives to challenge you both physically and mentally.
I visited spyscape a few years ago and had a great time, so I was excited to go back and try SPYGAMES this time! It’s such a fun activity to do with friends, family, or coworkers - and it’s a great excuse to forget your phone for a while, lol.

Perfect for anyone looking for unique things to do in NYC, or for visitors who want to go off the beaten path.

🇫🇷10 SPOTS IN PARIS FOR SWEET TREATS - Save this post for your next trip to Paris!

If there’s one thing I value when I travel is food! Having my sister as a local in the French capital is a guarantee we will try the best of the best, lol. And since I stayed there for over a month, I had plenty of time to try a looooot of sweet treats. Here are my top 10!

🥐 the_french_bastards - I don’t think you can go wrong with anything here - from the classics croissanta and pain au chocolat to the creative and indulgent crookie!

🍪 cremelondon - yep, I know, I know, I can’t help myself - I absolutely love cookies and probably visited this spot 3 times during my stay. The Miso White Chocolate flavor was so unique and delicious!

🍮 pierrehermeofficial - Flan Infiniment Chocolat is only available on the weekends at their Òpera location and you shouldn’t miss it.

🍨 cafe_isaka - another place I visted on repeat. Their ice cream is so unique!

🍦 Speaking of ice cream, Paris is full of gelato spots. I def recommend visiting angiolo.paris and gelaterialaromana_fr

🧁 les3chocolats_paris you could never imagine that black sesame and chocolate would pair so good together!

☕️ laizeparis for great coffee. Cute spot! But please please please try the little peanut “square” cake.

🍪 holycookie_paris such a Nyorker concept - giant spoonable cookies, served warm with a variety of toppings and flavors.

🍫 patrick_roger_off I didn’t splurge on designer bags, so I definetely allowed myself to splurge on these incredible chocolates. The stores feel like jewerly stores.

✅Stay tuned for the part 2 with my restaurant recs!

🥹🇫🇷I CAN’T BELIEVE I DID IT! After more than a year planning and dreaming about it, c’est fini—I finished my intensive French course at the alliance_francaise_paris , and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

People have been asking me how it was, and honestly, it was an incredible experience. I learned so much.

And listen: my benchmark is myself. I try not to compare my learning journey to other people—I only compare myself to who I was before, through my previous experiences in Paris and how much more I started to understand, how I’ve become able to handle small tasks, and how much more confident I feel with the language.

Immersing yourself in a language is probably the most rewarding and effective way to learn, and I’ll be forever grateful for this opportunity—especially considering how Alliance Française is such a reference when it comes to learning French.

And last but not least, I can’t forget my amazing sister—she has been calling Paris home for over 10 years, and she and her husband not only hosted me but also helped me a lot with my studies!

Highly recommend checking alliance_francaise_paris website to learn more about the courses and classes they offer!

✅ Stay tuned, I will still publish a full blog post with all the details and useful tips for anyone who is thinking about doing the same!

C’EST FINI! 🇫🇷

Going back home with my heart full of beautiful memories and gratitude for this incredible experience in Paris!

Extremely proud of myself for never stopping chasing new things and learning more. French has been a language I’ve always wanted to learn and the jump I had with the classes at alliance_francaise_paris was incredible. More on that soon!

And, of course, spending this time at my sister’s place and having special moments with her and my dear brother in law is something I will remember forever - thank you for these two for the hospitality, the jokes and the laughs! I see u in NYC!

And, of course, having some days in the city with my husband was also special. Not to mention the gelatos, the pastries and the restaurants - and the incredible people I met here too!

Au revoir, Paris! I hope to see you soon!

“Can I have a bottle of water?
Do you have Perrier?” - she asked the waiter, in French.

She was also able to do some small talk with the cashier about the most appropriate time to say “Bonjour” or “Bonsoir”.

She also paid for her purchase at the store and understood all the questions about getting a bag and the receipt.

Days earlier, she rehearsed a question in French while walking to the gym. She has been ordering her coffee in French every morning.

(She also had to switch to English to ask about how long she could keep her pastries out of the fridge and she couldn’t hold a conversation in French while asking for a medicine at the pharmacy, but she is choosing to celebrate her wins).

She is now heading to her last week studying French at alliance_francaise_paris and she is feeling accomplished and proud of herself 🥹

MY ROUTINE STUDYING FRENCH IN PARIS at alliance_francaise_paris 🇫🇷

I guess the most surprising thing about this experience is realizing that studying is a full-time job 😂 my brain can’t function properly after 4h studying French.

Jokes aside, this has been such an incredible, exciting and challenging experience and I’m very grateful for it.

On top of that, being able to build some routine and getting to explore Paris with my sister is definitely a plus that I don’t take it for granted!

When I first heard about this race, I knew it was going to be an epic one, so I signed up immediately since I was going to be in Paris. Such a BEAUTIFUL and unforgettable course 😭😭😭 I was emotional.

🏞️2-day getaway in the Hudson Valley

Thiago and I love to escape the city sometimes and explore the Hudson Valley. Over the Memorial Day weekend, we spent two days in Hyde Park and explored some spots around.

🚗Car Rental: for us, it was so convenient to take the Metro-North and pick-up a car in Poughpeesie. Not only we skipped Manhattan’s traffic (it’s so annoying), but the pick-up was so fast and if you compare, it’s cheaper than picking up in some locations in the city.

🏠 This Airbnb had stunning views. It rained most of the days, but we were able to witness a beautiful sunset.

Places mentioned on the video:

🥧 justalittlepieshop- hands down the best discovery during this trip. They have different flavors of pie, and also build your pie (savory and sweet options). I thought I didn’t like American pies until I tried this one.

🍬From the same owners, try amandasmacaronshoppe too! Their macarons are delicious!

🥗 For healthy food - we loved chakrabowls, serving salads, bowns and smoothies

🍹 For dinner and drinks - farmersandchefshv (portions were generous!)

🧁In Hudson, make sure to stop by alittlerico for nourishing dishes and confort latin food, melthebakery - their almond chocolate croissant was insane, SupernaturalCoffeehudson for a capuccino and a slice of their orange olive oil cake and oldehudson for specialty foods.

🌉 Still in Poughkeepsie, you shoul definetely check Walkway Over the Hudson, a pedestrian and bike bridge and in Hyde Park, make sure to stop by Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt (it is stunning in the Fall).

Do you have more recs of places to explore in the Hudson Valley? Drop them below!

Sharing this here as a reminder to myself too!

🇫🇷 I started to take French lessons (with karlacostafrances ) a little bit over a year ago. I was super excited when I started. Then I got frustrated... and then, at some point, I had to remind myself that it was a marathon, not a sprint. I should enjoy the process.

I mean, I’ve been learning English since I was 10 (?). So, yeah, I guess this will take time but I should give myself credit. And also: this was supposed to be fun.

Things take time. Whatever you are starting to do: learning a language, running, or baking, remember that progress take time and failures are part of the process of learning. I know it sounds cliche, but I had to remind myself of this so many times.

By the way, if you want to read more about this, I shared some reflections on slow progress, new beginnings, and resisting the pressure to perform on my recent newsletter - The Tiny Apple - link in bio!

🥾MANHATTAN URBAN HIKING - aka the Broad City Challenge

When I saw videos on social media about walking Manhattan from top to bottom I got really excited about trying. I didn’t know, but apparently the idea was inspired on Broad City TV series.

🍫 Before I forget - make sure to order the brigadeiros from my friend brigadeirosnjoy

Last Saturday, my friends and I completed the challenge - and it was such a nice accomplishment (although my friends were cursing me at the end, lol, they said they loved it).

So here are some tips if you are planning to do it:

⏰ Start early: I would say 9h30am is a good time - we were a little late and started at 11am.

☀️Pick a time of the year when the weather is nice - can’t imagine myself doing this in August.

👟 Wear comfy clothes and shoes and don’t forget the sunscreen. Bring a refillable water bottle.

📍 Save some spots on your Google Maps but there are no rules - we followed Broadway for most of the time, but if I do this again, I would include Riverside Park and perhaps Hudson River Park.

🚽 Save got2gonyc map for restrooms.

🍲 Spots mentioned on our video: northendfoodhall _talkintacos saltandstraw

‼️‼️‼️‼️And if you want a bigger challenge, keep an eye on shorewalkers_ny - they promote The Great Saunter, bringing 3,000 walkers together to circumnavigate Manhattan - aka 32 miles!
