In these tumultuous times, it's more important than ever to recall the history of slavery & never-ending fight for freedom. ✊🏿 At the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre in Birchtown, Nova Scotia, I learned about the largest free Black settlement in North America (founded 1783). blackloyalistheritagecentre archives & preserved schoolhouse recall how the community came together to overcome innumerable challenges, and the importance of continuing this work today.
