When you are deciding whether to increase your paid media budget, start with your numbers. Google might tell you that 52 people converted last month, but that is only the first step. Pull that data into your CRM, like HubSpot, and see how many of those conversions actually made it through. Some may have dropped off along the way.

Next, filter for quality. Were they qualified leads or not? From there, look at your close rate. For example, if you are closing at 50 percent, your conversion number will shrink even more.

Now connect it to your ad spend. If you spent $5,000 and each deal brought in $1,000, closing only half leaves you with a $4,000 profit. That is not a strong return. A healthy benchmark is at least three to five times your spend.

Reviewing the full journey of a lead shows you whether your advertising is working or if adjustments are needed.

What I aim to do is flip that script. On my calls, the goal is for the prospect to do 80% of the talking. I go into fact finding mode, asking questions that dig deeper than surface level pain points. If they share a challenge, I follow up with, “What does that issue really represent for your department or company?”

Once they explain the bigger impact, I can show how solving that pain point connects directly to business outcomes that matter to them. This is where trust is built and deals move forward. Your solution only sticks when it solves a problem they feel deeply.
