This was an amazing thing to see today! My daughter, who had a recent amputation and walks with a prosthetic, was able to witness these para athletes training. These men are excellently throwing shotput and discs with their wheelchairs by their side. They definitely are not letting their disability hold them back. Most people would sit back and take it easy if they had a life-altering disability. But these men choose differently, they chose to be exceptional. I found this very inspiring and I am so glad my little daughter got to witness this. What a beautiful picture of resilience. This is Nisha's story. She has come so far and I could not be more proud of her progress! She had to overcome so much change coming into our family and leaving the only life she had ever known behind. She was often overlooked because of her feet, but we knew we wanted her in our family. She is such a delightful 2-year-old and has brought tremendous joy into our family. She has battled significant surgery, including an amputation, and has had to endure a long recovery process. Three weeks ago she got a new leg. We were told it could be weeks before she would walk normally. Just look at her now! This girl went through a major surgery and was adjusting to walking with a prosthetic for the first time. We were nervous to take her to a play area so soon, but she is such an amazing little girl. She was climbing, sliding, running, swinging, and jumping. Honestly, it looks like she has been walking like this her whole life. One more reason I think Delhi is so kid-friendly! This park is massive, you could spend the whole day here there is so much to do. Aside from the play equipment, there are various other activities for kids such as a library and aquarium. Honestly, I wish we had more time to spend here when we came. It was great. I have gotten used to this by now, but I still don't understand why this is. Indians can show up to important things on time like work, school, and flights. But when it comes to a party, dinner, event, or gathering, people are consistently late. It is like they can be selectively on time 😅 I remember one time I got invited to a birthday party for a friend at 6pm. I was shocked to find that the birthday person didn't even show up until after 9pm for their own party! She has always wanted to wear shoes her whole life. Unfortunately, though, she has never been able to wear any because of her feet. She was born with underdeveloped feet and ankles that didn't allow her feet to fit into any shoes. She never gave up on her dream to wear shoes one day though. Then finally we were able to get her some treatment and her amazing doctor at childorthoclinic was able to straighten one of her feet and had to remove the other. This allowed her to be fitted with a prosthetic leg which will allow her feet to finally be straight for the first time in her life! The only way I can manage my life in India is with her! This is our amazing helper Kimnu. Our girls have grown to love her and think of her as part of the family. She has been with our family for nearly 4 years and has blessed our lives in so many ways. She is an amazing young lady who makes life so much easier here. I don’t know what I would do without her. I would be lying if I said life in India isn't crazy. Sometimes things can get pretty chaotic. But you know what? I actually love this chaos, let me explain... I love days like this. A fresh downpour of rain leaves the air clean and the roads wet. The crazy amount of water that can rain makes things wild and fun. The roads bustling with cars, bikes, people, animals, and Rickshaws just have so much life to it. The sounds, colors, and sights are so full of vibrant life. And despite the chaos, things just work. Nobody gets mad or upset. Life just flows in and around the crazy. Life feels like such an adventure here with so much to see and experience. Life is never mundane or monotonous here. Every day holds new experiences to have or things to experience. I am constantly learning more about life in India and it is so amazing to take it all in. I think I will never stop learning more and more about the amazing life and culture here. India has very affordable education and here is why... I have only used one example here and that is public college tuition. But honestly, all forms of education are far cheaper in India compared to the USA. This is while taking into account the lower salaries in India compared to the USA. I am surprised when people give me pushback when I say that education in India is low-cost. The cost of a college education in America has gotten out of hand recently. It is nearly impossible to go through college without a loan anymore. India makes education more affordable, and therefore, more accessible to people in India. You may think college is expensive in India.
