Weight loss injections… and then what?

More and more people are contacting my clinic for support with maintaining their weight after coming off GLP-1 medications.

Some stop treatment early because of side effects, while others reach their goal and want to make sure they build sustainable healthy habits so they don’t regain weight when their appetite returns.

If this sounds like you and you believe you could benefit from support, feel free to DM me or get in touch with my team via the link in my bio.

Do people maintain their weight loss after stopping GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro?

Short answer: no.
A significant new study shows that most people regain nearly all the weight they lost, often within just one year of stopping treatment.

This comes as no surprise to me. Weight maintenance does not happen by magic. It takes strategy, focus and an ongoing commitment to healthy habits.

GLP-1s suppress your appetite, but what happens when you stop taking them and your hunger returns?

Whether or not you are using GLP-1s, if you are looking for expert support to lose weight and keep it off, we are here to help. Head to the link in my bio to find out more. 2025-05-20 22:49:40 Do people maintain their .. 0 -100% 25 +47%
Thank you toralicewest for featuring me in your insightful, comprehensive article on GLP-1 medications for sheerluxe.

My clinic doesn’t prescribe GLP-1s, but we are working with increasing numbers of clients seeking support with optimising their health and nutrition alongside the use of weight loss injections.

We work with clients to not only to ensure nutrient deficiencies and muscle loss are prevented, but also to ensure that weight loss is maintained once they transition off these medications.

If you’re currently on a medication like Ozempic, Mounjaro or Wegovy and feel you could benefit from the support of a qualified, experience nutritionist who specialises in weight management, we can help. Click the link in my bio to book a call with me.

Stress is not only unpleasant to experience, chronic stress can have a significant impact on our health.

It can also affect our ability to lose weight. Elevated levels of cortisol can promote fat storage around the middle, a common challenge for many of the clients we work with.

Alongside lifestyle interventions like meditation, breathwork and prioritising sleep quality, high quality supplements can be beneficial for helping support the body and reduce the impacts of stress.

Here are a few of the supplements my team and I recommend to our clients to help minimise the impacts of stress on the body. Find them at Healf.com - link in my bio for 10% off. 2025-04-30 23:09:47 Stress is not only unplea.. 0 -100% 3 -82%

Healthy holiday habits. Here are a few things I pack when I travel ✈️

Water bottle - Thanks Josh and bec_bowman for my Erewhon bottle. Typically either full of teapigs green tea or water and ll.supplements electrolytes.

Protein powder - I use protein powder to top up my protein intake while travelling. Ideal with meals like this: plain coconut milk yoghurt with protein powder mixed in, topped with pomegranate and seeds. I use various brands but usually travel with freesoul as a pouch is easier to pack.

Supplements - I take with my usual supplements with me plus nuzest Good Green Vitality and ll.supplements electrolytes (pictured). Raspberry flavour is my favourite.

Green tea - My favourite teapigs Mao Feng.

Healthy snacks - I’m not a big snacker and regular snacking isn’t something I usually recommend. However, I would always choose healthy snacks over being at the mercy of service stations and airports. Biltong, freeze dried coconut and happycultureza Biome Bars have been winners during my time in SA.

Faith In Nature soap - Natural soap because I prefer to avoid cosmetics with synthetic ingredients, it takes up less space than body wash and there’s no leak potential. I recently learnt about matadorequipment soap bar case (thanks to sammicohentalks) and I’m ordering one.

Water wipes - I discovered waterwipes in an airport Boots a couple of years ago and always travel with them now. Great for keeping clean on the go (hands, face, spills, white trainers). No nasties, unlike many wipes.

MooGoo SPF - Standard sunscreens contain a lot of chemicals I don’t want to put on my skin. moogooskincareuk is one of the best natural SPFs I’ve found.

Non-toxic bug repellant - Mosquitos love me. I don’t love them. incognitolessmosquito, nealsyardremedies plus some citronella wrist brands from Amazon have turned out to be an effective combination.

Drowsy sleep mask - Necessary for sleeping on planes and afternoon naps when there are no blackout blinds. Thank you lynnie_thomas flipside_pr for introducing me to drowsysleepco. I love this brand.

Happy International Women’s Day ✨

Yesterday I hit 10k followers - a big hello and welcome to all of you who are new here ☺️ This feels like a good time to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me.

My name is Kim Pearson. I’m a qualified, BANT registered nutritionist and I’ve been in clinical practice for almost two decades now.

My team and I specialise in weight loss. We help people, mostly women, overcome their weight challenges, achieve a weight they’re happy at, and maintain it long term. We do this by identifying the root cause(s) of our client’s weight struggles and designing personalised protocols that are effective and sustainable.

It was my own challenges with my weight that led me to want to help others with their weight. I grew up with a mum that was always on a diet. I gained weight easily (I inherited a fair few ‘fat genes’) and then, at 14, I turned vegetarian. I thought I was eating healthily but it turns out a diet of pasta and cereal is not optimal for health or weight management (who knew 🙄). I was constantly hungry, constantly craving sugar and starchy carbs and constantly preoccupied with my weight and what I ‘should’ and ‘shouldn’t’ be eating. It took me well over a decade (and a degree in nutrition) to learn how to eat to effectively fuel my body, maintain a weight I was happy at, and to develop a healthy relationship with food and eating.

But I can confidently tell you - having done it myself and supported hundreds of clients in doing the same - it IS possible. It’s possible to live in a body you’re comfortable (even happy!) in while also enjoying your food and your life.

In addition to my one to one clinical practice, I am co-founder of Metabolic Reset, my online group programme with cardiologist lifestylemedicinedoctor. We officially launched the group membership in February. I am so proud of what we have created and so happy to see the health transformations it’s enabling.

If you’d like to find out more about working with my team one to one, you can visit kim-pearson.com.

✨Rapid results, lasting change ✨

Last Monday, Aseem and I officially launched Metabolic Reset. Even though we’re only a week and a half in, the feedback has been amazing. Participants are already noticing less bloating, more energy, weight loss and better sleep. When you start prioritising your health, your body can respond fast.

My team and I see the same with our one-to-one clients. While we are, of course, focussed on long-term health and wellbeing, there’s no denying that the body can transform quickly when given the right support. Our average client loses 3.8kg in their first month.

Many people who join Metabolic Reset or our one-to-one Intelligent Weight Loss programmes are surprised at how quickly they start to see and feel the benefits. And the best part? They’re still enjoying their food, eating satisfying meals, and making it work around their lifestyle. These are the factors that, in my experience, lead to lasting success.

Are you ready to make a change?

There is a saying that goes ‘if you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.’

This is something I have seen to be true on many occasions throughout my 16 years in clinical practice. Taking care of our health is something we all need to do, if not, there will likely be consequences.

Most of us lead busy lives. It’s easy to put focussing our health on the back burner.

If you’re putting off…

Improving your diet
Exercising consistently
Prioritising time out for yourself
Better managing your stress
Sorting your sleep out
Getting to the root of mental health issues

… or anything else you’ve been promising yourself you’ll make a priority, here is your sign to Do. It. Now.

There is no better time than the present. Well, maybe 10 years ago. But it’s also important to focus on what is within our control 🙃

Crash dieting, diet culture and aspiring to look like the airbrushed images of models on social media; detrimental to both our physical and mental health.

I spoke to amandacassidywrites about safe, healthy and sustainable weight loss. Full article on image.ie.

If extreme measures aren’t the solution, what to do instead if you want to lose weight?

I’ve worked with hundreds of women and men over the past 15 years to help them achieve and maintain a weight they’re happy at. Here’s what I know works 💁🏼‍♀️

✨ Prioritise your health and address any underlying health issues that may have prevented successful weight loss or weight maintenance in the past.

✨ Identify a dietary plan that is right for your body and your lifestyle. In most cases, this will need to be adapted over time. There really is no one size fits all diet.

✨ Establish a healthy lifestyle. Work on this until it stops being a ‘health kick’ and simply becomes just what you do day in, day out.

✨ Address your relationship with food and eating. If you often turn to food when you’re stressed, bored, upset, angry or looking to reward yourself, no amount of nutrition knowledge will provide the solution to your weight challenges.

✨ Exercise consistently. This doesn’t have to mean going to the gym if you don’t like gyms. Find what works for you.

✨ Support, guidance and accountability. Weight loss is a journey. Having a professional to support you, guide you and hold you accountable can be the key that makes all the difference.

If you’re looking to lose weight and feel like you could benefit from working with a qualified, experienced team of nutritionists who specialise in weight loss, we are here to help.

Direct message me and we can book you in for a complimentary call to talk through your challenges and discuss how we can help you.

I look forward to hearing from you 🤍

Wellness doesn’t have to be joyless.

If all of your socialising and downtime revolves around drinking, eating unhealthy food or other behaviours that don’t support your health, what happens when you do choose to start prioritising your health?

I’ll tell you. Life can become pretty boring and miserable.

I’ve seen clients avoid social occasions and certain friends, not wanting to get drawn into behaviours that don’t support their health or weight loss goals. But this is rarely sustainable long term.

Most of us like socialising, we like spending time with friends, having fun, relaxing and enjoying some downtime. The key is to find ways of doing these things that don’t always revolve around meeting at a pub or bar.

These photos were taken on a day filled with so much fun, joy and laughter. A hike in nature with brilliant people, a delicious healthy meal upon return, no alcohol in sight.

I support my clients in finding new ways to socialise and enjoy their lives while staying aligned with their vision for a healthier body and lifestyle. You can have both.

Stress is not only unpleasant to experience, prolonged stress can negatively impact many aspects of our health.

Stress can also play a role in weight gain. It can impact our eating behaviour, increasing appetite and driving cravings for unhealthy foods. Elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol are strongly linked to abdominal weight gain (aka ‘belly fat’).

Comprehensive adrenal stress tests are amongst the most common tests we run in clinic. They can provide valuable insights into the extent to which stress can be at the root of certain health issues or weight loss resistance.

Once have clarity on our client’s cortisol pattern through the day we can implement tailored strategies to help bring them back into optimal ranges.

Addressing the root cause is key. Optimising diet, implementing certain lifestyle habits and adopting stress reduction practices can all help to regulate our cortisol levels. Supplements like adaptogenic herbs can also be beneficial.

I spoke to toralicewest sheerluxe about cortisol testing. Swipe to see my comments.

If you feel you could benefit from getting your cortisol levels tested, send me a message and we can organise a simple at home test for you.

Ultra-processed foods 🍭

These are not just foods like brightly coloured doughnuts and Haribo. They include many of the foods we eat every day and may not consider to be highly processed.

Swipe for my comments on countryandtownhouse on why they’re so problematic and how to avoid them.

Many ultra-processed foods are designed to be hyper-palatable and drive over consumption. Once you pop…

It’s no surprise that children start to reject vegetables and blander tasting healthier foods when their palate becomes accustom to synthetically flavoured and sweetened foods.

Until the government does something to clamp down on the advertising and marketing of ultra processed foods, our food environment is working against us. And this significantly impacts the food choices we make.

Ultra-processed foods are driving the obesity epidemic. They’re driving up rates of chronic degenerative disease. If you care about your health / the health of those you feed, it’s wise to keep ultra-processed foods to an absolute minimum.

Eating out 🍴

I’ve eaten out a lot this summer. Health is a priority for me and because I gain weight pretty easily, if I take my eye off the ball with what I eat, I soon know about it.

Here are some of the things I do when eating out that you might like to consider too...

Check the menus of restaurants online before getting there. This is a tip a lot of my clients find helpful. That way you can decide what you’re going to order ahead of time and have a plan for when you’re there, hungry and more likely to be distracted.

Be selective about the restaurants you eat at. Some have much better healthy options than others.

Redefine what a treat is. We tend to think of treat food as being unhealthy, but to me, a really good steak or a seafood platter is a treat. Healthy foods can be treats too.

Ask for swaps. Salad / veg instead of chips, olive oil instead of dressings… restaurant staff are normally quite happy to adapt what’s on the menu for you if you’re nice to them 😉

Decide when to indulge. Do I avoid bread and ask for salad instead of chips every time I eat out? No. I make conscious choices about how often I relax the rules and I make sure it’s worth it for something delicious.

This photo was taken by my good friend jane_chester on a beautiful day we spent amanteibiza recently. We ate seafood cannelloni, we drank wine, we had dessert. The memories of this day make me so happy. But I’m well aware I can’t eat like that every time I eat out!

It’s a cliche, but balance really is key.

Thank you dharana_shillim for the most magical stay.

My time at Dharana was not only a wonderful opportunity to take time out to prioritise peace and wellbeing. It also gave me insights into a more Eastern approach to weight loss and health optimisation and build on my (very basic) knowledge of Ayurveda.

It was a pleasure to spend time with ayurarunpillai and the team and learn about Dharana’s weight loss programmes. I’m always curious to know about the approaches other practitioners and organisations are taking.

Dr Arun is a traditionally trained Ayurvedic doctor who is combining both an Ayurvedic and functional medicine approach. He’s currently writing a book on ‘ayurgenomics’ - how genomic testing can be applied to Ayurvedic practice. Absolutely fascinating. We had many nerdy chats and I look forward to continuing to learn from him.

I also loved meeting and spending time with new friends rukhsarrehman aisharahmed rohanshah rohitsaraf. Our waterfall hike was a joy filled day that I will remember always!

Everything at Dharana was magical; the surrounding jungle, the food, the treatments, the ceremonies and of course the staff. The perfect place for healing, whatever that looks like to you. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Today is National Dog Day.

nationaldogday celebrates all dogs and exists to remind us of the significant number of dogs that need to be rescued each and ever year.

This year I’ve witnessed first hand dogs being mistreated. It’s heartbreaking.

In Spain it’s common for people to get dogs for hunting and / or security and leave them tied to chains all day and all night. Dogs need physical and mental stimulation. They need company and affection. These poor dogs are getting very few of their basic needs met.

In India I’m told it’s become common for people to get dogs as a status symbol with no understand of what a big responsibility they are. These dogs are often tied up or thrown out on the streets.

The U.K. is not exempt, with many lockdown puppies being given to shelters when real life resumed and they became too much.

The good news is that there are many amazing organisations working tirelessly to rescue dogs from these conditions (and worse) and find them homes they deserve.

If you’re thinking of getting a dog, please consider a rescue. Check out animalesdelalma in Ibiza, adopteddogsofindia in India, dogstrust and the_blue_cross in the U.K. and many more. If you know of any brilliant rescue organisations that deserve a mention, please share in the comments.

My dog Lily was brought back from Mykonos where she’d been left out on the streets. I love her beyond words but she’s been a challenge at times. I’ve worked hard, with much support from dear janatjustdogs, to understand and fulfil her needs, manage her behaviour and reduce her reactivity. It’s been a journey but I wouldn’t change her for anything. She has taught me so much.

Not all rescue dogs are a challenge though! I have friends and family who have rescued dogs that are calmer and more well adjusted than some puppies bought from breeders. Good rescue centres will understand your circumstances and lifestyle and work to pair you with a dog that’s right for you.

And if you would love a dog in your life but can’t commit to getting one of your own borrowmydoggy is ace.

To dogs. Loyal, loving dogs. We don’t deserve them 🤍

Two months ago boudiccafoxleonard wrote this article for telegraph highlighting seven of the habits and behaviours I see compromising people’s weight loss progress.

As a result we received a number of enquiries at the clinic from people who identified with what they read in the feature.

Two months on and I received this wonderful feedback from Kate, one of the women who started working with us after reading the article…

“I'm so pleased with my results to date. Kgs and cms coming off 🙂🙂

I'm finding the plan pretty easy to stick to. I know when I had my consultation with you I mentioned the overwhelm I feel trying to understand how I should be eating. What Stephanie has given me is simple and is massively effective. I have a way to go but am really celebrating how far I've come already.

Everyone I know is commenting on how good I look at the moment. I'm feeling v healthy and am even wearing a bikini in front of others. This is a big deal for me.

I can't tell you how happy I am that I read your article in The Sunday Telegraph and acted on it.

Stephanie is fab and I love working with her.”

Thank you Kate for sharing your feedback. Thank you Boo for writing this article.

💊 Supplements 💊

I shared my thoughts on supplementation with sheerluxe. Link to full article in bio.

Swipe to find out what I take personally, the brands I recommend to my clients and the products most of us could benefit from taking.

We all have different health challenges, different genes, different diets and different lifestyles. Therefore an optimal supplements protocol looks different for everyone.

Part of our work involves providing our clients with supplements protocols tailored to their unique needs. Supplements can provide significant benefits but they can also be a complete waste of money, even dangerous, if you don’t take a considered approach. It’s always important to ensure that supplements don’t interact with medications, if you’re taking them.
