Ever wondered what happens after you flush? 🚽💧
Hidden beneath Tokyo’s streets lies a world we rarely think about…and it’s surprisingly fascinating (and free!).

At the Tokyo Sewerage Rainbow Museum, kids (and adults!) can explore how wastewater is cleaned, recycled, and sent safely back into nature.
It’s interactive, educational, and unexpectedly fun!

Fun? Sewage? Are you suuure?

Haha I know this sounds unlikely, but trust me, kids actually enjoy flushing things, unlimited times!😆👌🏻

Tag kidsfriendlyjapan when you do make a visit, and share your flushin’ good times!

At first glance: stairs + stroller = instant nope for me.

But I tried their food before (ordered them online) and it was so good. 😭 So, when I was actually around the Kiba area, I thought, why not swing by and eat in?

It was after a day out at Kiba Park, I remember. I couldn’t find a muslim-friendly food stalls there, so went searching for a nearby eateries. So I came here instead, since it’s not too far anyway. And yup, it was the right decision; we ended up having a great lunch until our tummy was so full. 🍛✨Kids particularly love the chicken malai tikka, and cheese naan. 🤍

And then more recently, I found out that every Sunday they have a lunch buffet. Went for it, and I really enjoyed it! Food was delicious and comes with free flow of naan. I mean, ¥1300 for adults and ¥800 for kids? In this economy? So worth it!

What do you think? Would you walk away and find other stroller-friendly eateries if the food was this good? Or stick with takeout?

Save this for your next family lunch in Kiba 🌿

I’ll admit it: sometimes taking my kids to the arcade in Japan feels like a lazy mom move. 😅🫣
Until I discovered some of these games are actually designed to be educational… and suddenly it became a win–win.🤝😎

The Eco Bus teaches kids about eco-driving and electric cars

The Recycling Game makes trash sorting fun ♻️

The Cooking Game actually has realistic recipes that kids can replicate!

My kids are entertained, they’re learning something new, and I get a much-needed breather. 😮‍💨

And BTW:
💡 Mom math moment: if ¥500 gets me a 30-min unlimited play pass, that’s way more worth it than paying ¥100 per game. My kid easily play more than 5 games in 30 minutes! (Tell me I’m not the only one doing this calculation 😂)

So if you’re traveling in Japan with kids, don’t feel guilty about a quick arcade stop. Some of these machines are edutainment gems you won’t find in a guidebook.

Follow kidsfriendlyjapan to discover the family friendly side of Japan you never knew!

You’ve probably seen the postcards: shrines, sushi, and sakura. Beautiful, yes, but what about strollers on crowded trains? Finding meals the whole family can enjoy (and maybe even halal friendly)? Or keeping little ones happy when the touristy destinations are overcrowded?

That’s the Japan that doesn’t always make it into the guidebooks, the real side parents think about before booking that flight.

I started kidsfriendlyjapan because 6+ years of raising kids as a non-Japanese here taught me one thing: Japan is filled with many family-friendly gems that make travel not just possible, but memorable.

If you’re dreaming of Japan but worrying, “Can I really manage it with kids?” you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and I’m here to show you how smooth and magical it can be. 2025-09-28 16:34:51 You’ve .. 79 -53% 4 -55%

For families, the extra comfort (tables, reclining seats, wide windows) can make a big difference on longer rides. 🚆

Did you know Japan’s long commuter trains also have Green Cars, not just the shinkansen?

Kids age 0-5 are still free of charge so parents of toddlers and preschoolers: this is your chance!

⚠️if you have more than 2 kids per 1 adult, then you will have to pay for a child fare for the third child onwards.
⚠️no overhead cabin so I wouldn’t recommend carrying large suitcases on this Green Car

In this park, kids get to make their own souvenirs!

At funabashi_andersen_park Wood/Tree Atelier, little makers choose from different wooden pieces to design their very own creation.

With tools, colors, and friendly staff guidance, it’s hands-on, creative fun you won’t find at the usual tourist stops.

Workshops are about ¥500–¥600 (may cost more for special programs), and in just an hour kids can turn simple wood into something they’re proud of.

For the little creators in your family, this Wood Atelier is the perfect spot to add into your Japan itinerary.✨

Entrance to the park is charged separately.

When I first moved to Japan less than 10 years ago, I didn’t notice many of the small details that make daily life easier. It was only after having my firstborn that I began to see how much thought Japan puts into caring for families. All the big and little things that make life more comfortable, more livable.

One of the reasons I started kidsfriendlyjapan was to share this appreciation. To highlight the ways Japan creates spaces where families feel supported, and to hopefully inspire more places around the world to carve out friendlier, more caring spaces for parents and kids. 💚 2025-09-04 07:00:52 When I first moved t.. 819 +389% 61 +587%

It was summer holiday in Japan ☀️and I took the kids on a trip to Indonesia! ✈️🇮🇩
So yes, today’s reel is a little “out-of-Japan” content but I hope it’s still useful if you’re planning a visit to Jakarta with your family.

Perfect for families, tourists, or anyone looking to celebrate Indonesia’s beauty in a fun way.

Oh btw, Happy (belated) National Day, Indonesia 🇮🇩✨

📍Taman Mini Indonesia Indah tmiiofficial
[For a one-stop destination] A cultural park that brings together all of Indonesia’s diversity in one place. Huge place, expect a full day itinerary if you want to enjoy fully!

📍Museum Nasional museumnasionalindonesia
[For something educational] Suitable for older kids but younger kids can enjoy some zones. The gift shop has some interesting thematic toys, as well as a museum stamp (for those into stamp rally!). Can be accessed by Trans Jakarta bus route.
On the way here you can also catch sights of the National Monument (Monas).

📍Kanana Cafe kanana.jakarta
[For some leisure good time] A cafe + huge indoor playground with Indonesian-themed pretend play and family facilities. Located upstairs, but there is elevator access for strollers. Parking spots are limited.

Drop a comment if you’d like to see more from my recent trips 😊

A new hotel that opened this year! It was something that was simple, clean, and worked well for our little family trip to Osaka.

We booked just one night before flying back to Tokyo, and the room had everything we needed:
✨Low beds (toddler-mama peace of mind)
✨More than enough space for our stroller and luggage
✨In-room pajamas (yay to less clothes to bring/wash)
✨Cute kids’ toothbrushes and slippers
✨A fridge and microwave so we could reheat our takeouts for a slow breakfast the next morning

The hotel kept our bags after checkout, which gave us a few more hours to explore before heading to the airport. Kinda wish we had time to enjoy the rooftop lounge, but maybe that’s for next time!

Oh, did I mention there’s a coin laundry inside the hotel? So convenient!

I just got off the train, tapped out, and walked into the quiet station corridor when THIS caught my eye.

Wow! Typically these types of vending machines are more commonly found inside shopping mall’s baby rooms. But having it right inside the train station just makes it more convenient!
