SHAME can be such a crippling influence if you let it, and boy, did I let it.  FIRSTit showed up in my refusal to admit I did not understand money. And I let it keep me from seeking help in that area for too long.  NEXT, it showed up in my unwillingness to share with family and friends that I was in trouble. So, as a result, while out shopping with some friends, I bought a purse (a $480 bag, to be exact... that I could not afford at the time) just to fit in with everyone else making large purchases.   THEN it showed up in my interactions with those I love and prevented me from sharing how stressed I was about my finances, which resulted in me avoiding family members & gatherings.   However, I didn't recognize it as 'shame' back then. I figured it was just me being altogether no good with money.  But, after years of working on my mindset, I can recognize it for what it is, and I am no longer triggered to make purchases I will regret ( well, at least 97% of the time. anyway.) 🙂 2023-03-09 09:54:05 SHAME can be .. 17 -21% 5 +23%

You ever see a magician pull off a trick so we'll you are left wondering how he/she did it? Yeah, me too. But, what I learned recently is that the greatest part of the trick is the distraction. That shiny object you are asked to focus on while they razzle-dazzle you with the trick. Lately, there has been a lot of excitement around the notion of salary transparency, and don't get me wrong, I am all for it. But, let's not get distracted by the amount of earnings (shiny object) without giving major consideration to how we will utilize those earnings once received. Higher salary does not automatically translate to wealth creation. Has anyone noticed the insane fees tacked on to all orders placed through delivery apps these days? I had not until I received this text from a client this weekend. Now granted, I don't begrudge the tip for the delivery person, but when the fees equal/exceed said tip- I wonder if it does not make sense to return to ordering from the restaurants directly.
