TEN YEARS AGO this month, I started this instagram account— and unknowingly began my career. 

A decade. 

I want to remind you that it is never too late to change your life. To pivot in your career. To try something new. And to always pay attention to the things that cause your soul to stir, they are not on accident. 

I began this space with no intention of switching careers or growing a following, but because I longed for a place I could connect with other women, exist without judgement, and be the voice of things that I personally needed to hear— hoping maybe others needed to hear them, too. 

I neverrrr could have seen my path unfolding as it has! But thank God that it did. 

To every single one of you who has trusted me as their trainer, come to events, listened to podcast episodes, read interviews, liked or shared my posts, or supported me in ANY way throughout the years— thank you.

I am all too aware that I have no control over how I am perceived and how my content is interpreted, so I have always focused on what I CAN control— the intention and energy from which I create. 

I am also all too aware that my career would not be what it is or has been without YOUR support, quite literally. It feels soooo inadequate, but truly: THANK YOU. 

Of course, I would never be where (or who) I am— and literally would never have began this account— without the relentless support and love and encouragement from my rpwells 

With so much gratitude for every step behind me, and so much peace for my path ahead— here’s to the next decade.

I spent this past weekend in Montana with generation.all helping facilitate their Women’s Ranch Retreat, and finalizing preparations and plans for our upcoming redefinefitnessmethod retreat. 

Their work is so important. If you aren’t familiar with them, I encourage you to go to their page. ❤️‍🩹

While getting away to a retreat is a luxury, the true luxuries are accessible to all, and ones we all need to make space for and prioritize— 

Genuine conversations 
Self-reflection
Time spent in nature 
Deeeeep breaths 

It is too easy to operate day-to-day forgetting that every single one of us is HUMAN, and therefore experiences (and has experienced) individual heartaches, traumas, and challenges that you most likely will never know of. 

Walking throughout this life with kindness and compassion towards yourself and others is a powerful practice that makes space for healing. 

Grateful to each of the women I got to spend time with this weekend and the many brave and vulnerable (and fun and lighthearted!) conversations we shared. I’m cheering for you all, and I’m cheering for YOU, too!

I am 36 years old today!

In most ways, I feel younger than I ever have—

There’s a peace that comes from releasing what no longer serves you. 

There’s a lightness that comes from finding (making) peace within yourself and with your body. 

There’s a freedom that awaits when you truly embrace all of your scars, and remember to LOVE exactly who YOU are. 

And in some ways, it feels like I walk reacquainted with the weight of every single day I’ve lived in this life, and lifetimes before—

But it’s a weight that grounds, not burdens. 

There’s a reverence in reflecting back on every version of yourself, and accepting each with grace and love.

There’s a steadiness and joy I’ve found in learning to be proud of my path thus far.

I am so overwhelmingly grateful. 

I am so thankful for my rpwells who has seen and loved every part of me, before I even could. For our son. Our pup. For each moment of this life together. 

I am so thankful for YOU (and hi!!! I’ve MISSED you!) 

For my birthday, it would be SO cool if you could take a moment and tell me something you love about YOU. Something you’re proud of! Or even think it to yourself, at least. Because in a world that’s perpetually feeding you not-enoughness, it’s imperative that we remind ourselves that’s not the truth. ❤️

My boys met me in the big city after my business trip— it’s been a wild few months and I’ve been so thankful for so many positive things to focus on in the midst of it all, first and foremost making memories with my family. 🙏🏼

I sat in my window seat at 1hotel.centralpark for four hours writing poetry last week, and the first thing Anderson did was snuggle up there as well— it’s magic. 🥲

If life is feeling heavy or sad or stressful in some area for you right now, remember that you are (and LIFE is!) AND, not ‘or’. I’ll never stop giving you that reminder because it’s so true and so powerful. 

Focus on finding SOMETHING in your life that can bring you peace and presence in the midst of that which is out of your control. ❤️

As a professional fitness trainer, I am always asked how to build muscle and strength! These five things are what most people are doing wrong.

1. Undereating
Why: To gain muscle, your body needs a caloric surplus or adequate fuel. Without enough nutrients—especially protein and carbs—your body can’t effectively build or repair muscle tissue.

2. Overtraining
Why: Constant intense training can lead to muscle breakdown, fatigue, and hormonal imbalances. More isn’t always better—quality and structure matter more than volume alone.

3. Skipping Recovery
Why: Muscle growth happens outside the gym—during rest and sleep. Skipping rest days or getting poor sleep hinders your body’s ability to repair and grow stronger.

4. Program Hopping
Why: Frequently switching workouts prevents your body from adapting and progressing. Stick to a consistent, well-designed program long enough to see results.

5. Neglecting Mind-Muscle Connection
Why: Going through the motions without intention can limit gains. Focusing on the working muscle improves activation and effectiveness, especially during resistance training.

Have you been to NYC and did you like it!? 

I’ll never forget the first time I saw NYC at 26 years old. Over the many times I’ve been back since throughout my career, I’m still wowed every single time. I feel like every major city has its own signature energy, but love it or hate it, there truly is no place like New York. 

Every time I’ve been here has been memorable, but this business trip felt so different. I cried in more than one meeting and interview— but the happy tears.

Being the romantic I am lol, Paris has always been top of my list to visit and she did not disappoint— the croissants were divine, the people kind, and the entire city truly BEAUTIFUL. 

The funny thing though, is that prior to going to Paris we heard many mixed reviews— a lot of people didn’t love it or had not the best things to say. A good reminder that life is colored by the lense through which we choose to live and look at it. There is beauty everywhere! There is “both” everywhere. 

Anyway, my heart is so grateful for this very unexpected trip and these new memories made.

⚡️TOP 3 SHOULDER EXERCISES⚡️

When I’m training with cables that is! I’ve been hypertrophy weight-training (proper muscle group splits, 90% low-impact) for nearly a decade now! And writing programs for YOU to do the same for nearly nine years. I’m so proud of every one of my PWR babes whether they’re lifting at home or in the gym. 💪🙏🏼⚡️💙

1. Upright Row (Cable Machine)

Use a rope (or a straight bar) set on a low pulley. Stand upright, grip the attachment with hands shoulder-width or slightly narrower. Pull it up along your body, leading with your elbows. Stop when elbows are just above shoulder height, then lower slowly.
Focus: Delts, traps, upper-body symmetry.

2. Leaning Lateral Raise (Cable Machine)

Set the pulley to its lowest point. Stand side-on to the machine and hold the handle with your far hand. Lean slightly away to increase range of motion. Raise the cable out to the side until shoulder height, then lower with control.
Focus: Medial delts, shoulder shape, balance.

3. Face Pull (Cable Machine)

Set the rope attachment at chest or eye level. Hold each end with an overhand grip and pull toward your face, leading with your elbows and keeping your upper arms parallel to the ground. Pause to squeeze your rear delts and upper back.
Focus: Rear delts, traps, posture alignment.

Well I opened ig to share these rooftop photo pics my rpwells took of me in Paris because, well I felt like a princess! Little Kelsey would have LOVED this. 

But thennn I started scrolling and honestly? Now I’m pissed. Because after just a few minutes on this app I’ve been served soooo much bs d*et and sk*nn* culture content. (!!?!?!)

The kind that little Kelsey stumbled into which became a million little pieces of an exceptionally damaging puzzle. 

But you see, little me was witnessing the toxicity at an arms length— and our YOUTH (and the little girls inside of us!) are now being served this garbage constantlyyyy and on a glowing, silver screen.

Has anyone else noticed a massive and rapid rise of harmful d*et culture content well, everywhere??
