- Take it easy now dad 💔 Life can be so cruel sometimes and whilst I can’t find the words since he passed away a week ago, I know one thing that will always always stay with me and that’s to truly appreciate the small things in life, which is one of the things I’m most grateful for from him, my Papa G. Life will never be the same without him and his humour at the table but I promise to talk about him every single day, and be sure to have a fish finger sandwich for him everywhere I go.
- Having to go back to ‘normal’ when you feel far from normal after losing someone really is such a mixture of emotions and these last few months seem to have gone at equal parts incredibly slow whilst also noticing how much time has passed already. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think of my dad and I miss not being able to call him, feel safe with a tight squeeze from him or see another postcard through our letterbox with some random chat written for the kids. It’s been a shit time there’s no denying it, but what I’ve learnt even more from my dad than ever before, is that life really is about enjoying the simple pleasures. And family. Because truly that is all that matters - so I’m sharing some small pockets of joy from this year ❤️ 1. The garden will always be my dads 🪴 2. These three ❤️ 3. A piece of him in our garden. 4. The longest of hairs… 5. And a BIG moment! He asked for it and we always said we would when he did. I cried a lot 🥹 6. Fish finger sandwiches in one of his favourite places 🥪 7. Friday night kids dinner in a den is a win. 8. Cheerleaders for timfwilliams85 running the Brighton marathon - proud doesn’t even cut it! 9. Apparently Mother’s Day breakfast pancakes need paper plates… 10. ketteringtownfcofficial mascots for the day ⚽️ 11. My whole childhood in one photo (I had 250+ and kept 8 which the kids now love) 12. When dads will says to buy champagne instead of flowers so we do, a lot (security tag for added value 😅) 13. Calm evenings in the garden 14. This moment felt like grief to me - taking down these post it notes which felt insignificant to my dad but also so significant when I was studying and he was still here. 15. Afternoons by the sea 16. Mornings on the Heath with coffee and pastries ☕️ 17. “My bumps has a song” - on repeat 18. Garden centre trips 🍃 19. Always making sure to drive through this village, even more so now. 20. ❤️
- Life may really be testing us right now but I made sure to ignore the ridiculously high washing pile and decorate the house for the kids this weekend. And even though our pumpkin patch trip turned into a last minute dash to Budgens and the door decorations are basically hanging on by a thread (I feel this…), there’s a very excited four year old who can’t wait to wear tights for the first time to complete his witch outfit tomorrow 😅 so that’s all that matters!
