visiting small cafes is one of my favourite things to do while travelling, and if I can get a little bit of work done, even better 🤗

it’s possible I’m the odd one out in the van life world but I actually love visiting cities just as much as I love nature (maybe even more! don’t come for me! 😬) - what’s your favourite thing to do when travelling? 2025-09-22 18:51:07 visiting s.. 35 -98% 0 -100%

Comment “gear” and I’ll send you the link to my free gear guide with all the links to the items I mentioned 🤍

Look, I know I have a lot of cameras, but just remember if you’re ever comparing your kit to mine:
1) I’ve spent 10+ years building up my gear collection and
2) a lot of this stuff was sent to me by brands! and while I’m super grateful and much of it I would purchase myself, I’ve certainly been lucky to receive a lot. I would NOT be upgrading to every new version on my own dime (and tbh I don’t think you should either - be intentional about when you upgrade)

remember, don’t let a lack of gear hold you back! start building your creative muscles and then expand to new cameras when you bump up against the limitation of your phone camera. 2025-09-19 19:58:00 Comm.. 836 -51% 65 +14%
Here’s how I shower when I’m on the road (in a van that does NOT have a shower) 🚿

sometimes I wish that we would’ve gone for it and installed a shower inside our van when we converted it back in 2020, but the truth is, we were not experienced enough builders to figure that out 😅 and, it would require a much bigger fresh water tank than we currently have and a WAY bigger grey water tank.

generally, it’s not too difficult to find places to shower when we’re travelling, and then we don’t have to worry as much about water capacity. (plus it means our van is super open and spacious, since there’s no vertical walls dividing the space)

so let me know - could you do this for your shower routine? or would you hate it? haha 2025-09-18 21:09:38 Here’.. 31 -98% 3 -95%

How to edit a voice over vlog 🎬 you all really seemed to like my voice over tips in my last tutorial, so I thought I’d show you step-by-step how I edit a voice over vlog for Reels. You can definitely do this on your phone, but I personally hate editing on such a small screen, so instead, I airdrop everything that I film on my phone to my laptop, and do my editing in Davinci Resolve.

Davinci Resolve has a really great free version with most of the features you’d need! The only thing that I show here that’s exclusive to the pro version is auto captions (but you could always add those in Instagram later if you want)

Got more questions about voice overs or editing? Let me know in the comments and I’ll make some more tutorials haha 2025-09-17 17:33:17 How to edit a.. 1,653 -3% 66 +15%
Email newsletters > social media 💌 I know we’re all conditioned to think that social content is everything (and obviously, it is important) but don’t sleep on email marketing!

Email outperforms social in your ability to directly reach your audience AND in conversion rates when you’re actually ready to sell.

I’ve been loving Flodesk for years now! But heads up: their unlimited pricing plan is going away soon! If you sign up before November 28, 2025 you can lock in so that your rate won’t go up, even as your list grows. 2025-09-16 18:29:18 Email newsle.. 442 -74% 50 -13%

the real history of this place is even cooler than it’s fictional cameo on Outlander! These are the Calanais Standing Stones, which were put in place here over 5,000 years ago. I’m a huge history nerd, and this is for sure the oldest historical site I’ve visited - I was star struck. And sad to report back that no, I didn’t travel back in time through them 😉

1. No, you can’t “get paid to be yourself”
Successfully monetizing your content takes strategy, consistency, and treating your content as what it is, a business. Creators who make it look like it’s just “getting paid to be yourself” aren’t showing you the full picture.

2. Going viral isn’t the golden ticket you think it is
While it seems like the fast track to being a full-time creator, going viral might not have the impact you think. For one, there’s a 99% chance it’s going to be terrible for your mental health (there’s no way to reach a large audience online without SOME of the people in the comments section being total meanies) and secondly, it can be really hard to turn your 15 seconds of fame into a sustainable career.

3. It can (and should) take a long time to grow
The best online communities are forged over months and years of intentional growth. If it’s taking you a while to establish your audience, that’s okay, it should. You’re not doing anything wrong, you’re just being intentional.

got any more advice you’d add to the list? let me know in the comments 👇🏻 2025-09-11 17:41:18 .. 673 -60% 42 -27%

VLOGGING 101: voice over vlog example! ✨🎬 on my last video explaining the principles of a good voiceover, some of you asked for an example - so here ya go!

The main idea here is: I’m not talking directly about what I’m doing (which you can see in the b-roll) - I’m talking about other thoughts & feelings that feel relevant to the story. Which (hopefully!) makes for a more interesting video.

Let me know if you wanna see more examples or if you have other vlogging questions in the comments! 🫶🏻

have my views increased? certainly not. but has my joy increased? oh yeahh

as content creators, it’s so easy for us to become controlled by our analytics, striving to grow and grow and grow and honestly, it can turn us into algorithm robots.

this summer, I intentionally decided to take a break from strict strategy and just experiment. There are going to be hits (the most random videos have popped off, like my Edinburgh handbag workshop vlog… never would’ve seen that coming!) and also many, many misses (let’s not even talk about it okay)

I really believe your content can come in seasons; being completely consistent with the exact same format and type of content forever can feel creatively suffocating! So give yourself permission to try something new, and for it to flop.

Think of it this way; if your views/engagement are always perfectly consistent, it maybe means you’re not taking enough risks. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’ll see what direction my content takes in my next “season” - but at least I’ll know I’ve tried something new and learned from it 🥰 2025-09-06 19:00:00 .. 1,952 +15% 101 +77%

Was this more or less than you expected? It’s definitely an investment, but for us, it’s totally worth it. It’s been my dream to ship our camper van to Europe for years now, it’s hard to believe we’re actually doing it! These costs are all for two people! 💵 honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect in terms of expenses when we shipped our van from Canada to the UK. Of course we knew things would be expensive for us (just look at those CAD to GBP conversion rates 💀) but overall, I’m not upset about it.

also, I wanna note, our vanlife lifestyle is not necessarily typical, because we don’t live full-time in our van. When we’re in our van, it’s because we wanna travel and explore.

We’re not just living our everyday lives, so of course expenses for museums, tours, and other activities are going to be included that aren’t everyday things. So I wouldn’t really compare this to a month of life in our apartment, I would compare it to a month of staying in hotels and travelling.

Also, as you can tell, nothing gets us like a grocery store in a new country! dang so many new vegan things and snacks to try that you know we gotta buy haha
