FOCUS ON FOOD ONLY 
 
Yes, really 👇
 
You may have heard the expression that weight loss is “80% diet and 20% exercise”.
In my experience as a weight loss coach over the past 7 years, it’s more like 90:10, AT BEST.
 
From a weight loss point of view, if someone is extremely short on time I would disregard exercise ENTIRELY
 
Whilst that may surprise you, I bet youre already thinking 
 
“The food side of losing weight is time consuming too, I’ve always struggled to find the time!”
 
Don’t worry, I’ve got you, tips to speed this up are below ⬇️
 
 
 
1️⃣FIRST OF ALL- GET THAT FOOD SHOP DONE
 
Get a big one ONCE a week, so you’re not wasting time on it daily, plus after work food shops aren’t the best – as its very easy to succumb to cravings and end up with a trolley full of foods that definitely WONT help you on your weight loss journey!) 
 
Plus, who wants to be wondering around a shop deciding what to eat, after work?!
 
Want to make it even quicker? Do it online or a click and collect!
 
2️⃣  PLAN YOUR MEALS FOR THE WEEK- OR, AT LEAST YOUR WEEKDAYS. 
 
Again , do this once a week as, trust me, this saves you A LOT of time and stress in the long run 
 
3️⃣ KEEP MEALS QUICK AND SIMPLE
 
There’s plenty of diet friendly, tasty options out there , and are just a google away- the Pinch of Nom recipe books are also an excellent purchase !
 
4️⃣GOT KIDS AND SICK OF MAKING SEVERAL MEALS WHEN YOURE DIETING? 
 
You don’t need to ! 
 
There are PLENTY of family friendly recipes out there. If your children prefer plain foods, take out parts of the meal as they cook.. for example , with a chicken curry, set some chicken aside before you add the curry base.
 
5️⃣IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE 
 
Dedicate time to winding down in the evening ,for example no phone 90 mins before bed, so you can sleep well- as this is KING for weight loss 
 
 
Don’t waste your time on the things that will make zero difference to your weight loss !

Stop torturing yourself- use measurements , use clothes, AND use the scales (just stop relying on the latter! Please!)

I was so confused- I was eating so little and GAINING weight!!
 
Now, I can lose weight on around 1900 calories ( although I don’t track anymore and haven’t dieted for years! )
 
( oh, and P.S, I am about 14 years older than I was back then!) 
 
This is what I did! 👇
 
 
1️⃣I was eating the WRONG amount of calories – and you probably are too!
 
EVERYONE has different calorie needs- so I found out mine
 
You can easily do this on google 
 
At 5ft 10 and going to the gym 4x a week and doing a fair bit of walking, as I discovered, I should have been eating 1900 calories to lose weight
 
Which is exactly what I then started doing
 
 
2️⃣ I stopped bullshitting myself 
 
I would eat very little and wonder why I wasn’t losing weight
 
But the truth was that YES I was eating very little, but from Monday  to Friday afternoon
 
And because I was resentful and hungry- as I had restricted myself so much- I just ended up binge eating food and alcohol from Friday afternoon onwards, ending up with my feeling like shit and guilty by Sunday evening
 
 
And that guilt and anxiety led me straight back into the restrictive diets ..
 
I was trapped in the vicious cycle !
 
 
 
 
3️⃣ I realised there is PLENTY of amazing food out there that is low calorie- its just about finding it; this is my hack 👇
 
Literally just search your favourite foods on google and on Instagram 
 
I will often put the prefix “low calorie recipe” ahead of the meal I want and there you go!
 
 
4️⃣ I got fussier with who I followed
 
The girls that had amazing abs or were a size six didn’t motivate me 
 
They just made me feel like shit 
 
So I unfollowed them , and chose to focus on those that made me feel inspired and energised
 
And educated me!
 
( surely this is what fitness and nutrition accounts should be about?!)

Believe it or not

Getting motivated ISNT your biggest problem

It’s once week 3 (ish) of your diet hits,

Or the summer holidays
.
Or when you’ve had a bad day 
.
Or Fridays!  
.
But fear not- see my tips to keep you going on your weight loss journey, are below ⬇️

1️⃣Make things easier!
.
OK- there will ALWAYS be sacrifices and tough times, but eating 1200 calories, eating foods you hate , and doing exercise you hate , will leave you bored and resentful- you WILL end up giving up!!
.
 
2️⃣Set goals
.
Have you ever given yourself 30 mins to write down WHY you want to lose weight?
.
How can you expect to keep going on the tough days, if you don’t know WHY you’re doing it?
.
Goal setting  is something we do on my consultation calls, so if they want to join my program at the end of it, they are PRIMED and ready to go!
.
3️⃣Be more realistic
.
Stop trying to shoehorn high maintenance diets & regimes like Keto if you have a full on job and/or children and are constantly on the go? 
 
.
Make your meals easy & quick, buy some wraps for lunches, the odd ready meal!
.
Dont have time to go to the gym 5x a week? Go twice & get your steps up 
.
.
4️⃣Get more organised-
.
The SIMPLE tactic of writing a list of your meals for the week 
.
And doing ONE big food shop per week will make a huge difference
.
Essentially this allows you to move onto autopilot, rather than having a panic after a stressful day at work which inevitably results in running to the crisps, biscuits or peanut butter!
.
5️⃣Be more self aware- is it a MINDSET issue rather than a lack of willpower? 
.
Its easier to fob yourself off and not face the fact that actually- your mindset is in a bad spot and you need some help
.

I was working for Abercrombie and Fitch in London and was trying on some uniform
 
At that point I was really struggling with my weight, fad diets and emotional eating 
 
( I had been on and off dieting since I was 10!)
 
I grabbed a pair of jeans 
 
They didn’t fit
 
Nowhere near
 
So I asked for the next size up
 
The lady looked me up and down and coldly said
 
“ we don’t carry a bigger size” 
 
(I did also notice, around that time, I was always asked to work back of house )
 
This was my driver for weight loss for a long time
 
That shame
 
That disgust
 
But guess what 
 
That driver was never enough to make me lose weight 
 
I would be super strict with my food- Lunch time at work was hard work as felt like I couldn’t have a sandwich because it was too high carb 
 
Or I would be hunting around the shops for something “appropriate” – feeling light headed and overwhelmed because I hadn’t had enough for breakfast
 
And  so I would inevitably binge when I got home
 
I felt very alone , very angry with myself and very resentful
 
And why was I seemingly the only one struggling ?
 
So I would regularly give up
 
This carried on until I was about 23 
 
When my mum found a nutrition course online for me 
 
It was something I had always been interested in and had done a lot of nutrition  as part of my medical science degree at uni. 
 
A shift happened- Rather than food being something I was apprehensive about , that love/hate relationship, I learned what foods would make me feel full, energised and happy
 
So I did 2 more nutrition qualifications!
 
I rediscovered my love for cooking and found so many amazing ,tasty yet weight loss friendly recipes
 
And the weight started to drop!
 
But this time I felt more of a sense of peace- it was a SELF CARE practice
 
Not a SELF PUNISHMENT
 
It was self empowering
 
Not self- shaming 
 
Then 5 years later I became a weight loss coach myself- I wanted to show other women that there IS another way – to lose weight whilst enjoying your favourite foods. 
 
To be motivated, supported & HAPPY in their weight loss journey
 
Not fuelled by shame

1️⃣ People pleasers
 
They tend to do , and eat, wherever & whatever everyone else wants , which massively impacts their weight loss attempts
 
ANOTHER issue- people pleasers often harbour a lot of resentment, which can lead to emotional eating
 
A coach provides accountability to help people pleasers put themselves first a bit more, & show them tactics on how to do this (without making them feel uncomfortable)
 
 
 
2️⃣ Perfectionists
 
Perfectionists typically have a tough time with dieting
 
Because life isn’t always predictable and doesn’t go to plan- food doesn’t always either
 
This is a concept perfectionists hugely struggle with – if they havent eaten perfectly, they feel like they have failed
 
Which often leads to a loss of motivation, and  a “f**k it, ive failed, might as well continue” mentality which makes them fall off the wagon
 
Coaches work well as they can not only get the person back on track, but educate them be more flexible with food choices
 
 
 
3️⃣ All or nothing personalities
 
Going to the extremes & giving it your all gets you far in life- with most things!
 
The problem is, these people are highly attracted to extreme diets that aren’t sustainable (1200 calories, shakes, no carb)
 
So they give up
 
They are typically  on & off diets for many years , repeating this same extreme pattern
 
Coaching allows these people to find that elusive middle ground; they are able to eat more , enjoy food & are therefore able to stick to their weight loss regime successfully 

 
4️⃣ Those that are “too busy”
 
They try & shoehorn everything into their lives
 
Which not only leaves them less time to look after themselves
 
But often leads to emotional eating & burnout 
 
A coach, again, holds them accountable & focused to what they TRULY want and their goals , but can also offer A LOT of wisdom & tips to speed up & simplify things like food prep
 
 
5️⃣ Highly stressed individuals
 
These people often struggle with emotional eating and/or poor sleep
 
Both aren’t great for weight loss
 
A good coach will help you manage your stress levels, so you can handle both !

Everyone’s feeling it
 
The comparison , 
 
You have that friend, that colleague who’s on mounjaro, and has lost a stone in what seems like a few weeks
 
And the massive IMPACT that news has on your own motivation 
 
I’m here to tell you
 
Mounjaro wont  be any better than Herbalife when it comes to keeping the weight you’ve lost, off.
 
Because, like Herbalife, those fast weight losses come from being in an extremely high calorie deficit
 
AKA eating very little  
 
You also don’t learn anything
 
You don’t fix your mindset
 
So when you stop taking it , 
 
You pile it all back on 
 
 
( Oh and have wrecked your metabolism in the process, which will make it EVEN HARDER to lose weight next time)
 
 
( unless you have proper, daily, supervision and help, which is a subject for another day!) 
 
 
Paying £150-£200 a month for life  is also an option of course 🤷‍♀️
 
( although you have to come off it, cold turkey,  once you reach a certain BMI,so actually you cant stay on it for life, so scratch that) 
 
The fact is you CAN get the same results without Mounjaro
 
Im not going to lie to you
 
lt’ll take longer 
 
But the results will be here to stay
 
Because 
 
You ate more- so it was sustainable
 
You fixed your mindset and resolved the food issues- that caused your weight struggles in the first place
 
You also  faced up to the issues in your day to day life that further contributed to said struggles
 
And learned to deal with your stress levels
 
Unless you can address these issues 
 
Youre just kicking the can further down the road
 
And you’ll NEVER be able to lose weight, and keep it off

MY TOP 5 TIPS FOR EATING OUT WHEN YOURE TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT
 
 
1️⃣ CHECK OUT THE UNEXPECTED RESTAURANTS THAT ARE WEIGHT LOSS FRIENDLY!
 
 Ivy brasserie, Pizza express, Miller and Carter and Nandos all have plenty of options , and with calories on the menus its even easier to enjoy yourself, whilst staying on track !
 
2️⃣ CANT OR DON’T WANT TO GO TO A CHAIN RESTAURANT?
 
Ive got you covered
 
Diet friendly options include Lebanese Turkish and Greek- opt for rice and grains, grilled meats and salads !
 
Sushi is also generally great calorie wise!
 
 
 
 
3️⃣OPT OUT OF SMALL PLATES
 
They are usually very high calorie, and it becomes impossible to keep tabs on how much you’ve had
 
Plus they aren’t usually very satisfying , so you end up eating much more – not ideal for weight loss!
 
Where possible, pick somewhere where you can enjoy your own meal
 
4️⃣DON’T STARVE YOURSELF ALL DAY!
 
if you struggle with control on a meal out- This is a key reason why.
 
The hungrier you get , the more you crave carbs, and your willpower becomes non existent.
 
I totally get why this is tempting when youre trying to achieve weight loss , and by all means reduce a little in your other meals by reducing your carbs and/or fats, and picking high protein options, but NEVER cut out meals 
 
5️⃣ HACK FOR DRESSINGS AND SAUCES
You absolutely don’t need to get rid of these for weight loss  ! Opt for tomato based sauces where possible, but if you do go for the creamy sauces, your best bet is to have them on side- dip your fork in it before spearing the food , and enjoy! All the flavour for a lot less calories !

90% of ALL diets fail
 
This was the first slide of my first ever nutrition lecture at uni
 
And suddenly it all made sense
 
My years of failed dieting , starting from the age of 10
 
Maybe it wasn’t my fault?
 
Maybe it was, in fact, the diets 
 
15 years later , and 8 years as a weight loss coach, I know , for sure, that this is DEFINITELY the case
 
And these are the reasons they make it impossible to succeed 👇
 
1️⃣YOU DON’T EAT ENOUGH FOOD ON THEM
 
Your body is a survival machine- when you don’t eat enough it perceives itself as being starved , and will increase your cravings to encourage you to eat. There is only so long you can evade these drivers. Your body will also..
 
Slow your metabolism= to conserve energy. This slowing continues even AFTER you’ve finished this diet. This makes it EVEN HARDER to lose weight the next time you try to lose weight
 
 
2️⃣YOU ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO BINGE IF YOU ARE ON ONE OF THESE DIETS 
 
This is because heavy restriction is the no1 cause of bingeing.
 
Bingeing releases dopamine, which is pretty addictive, so bingeing then becomes a habit
 
3️⃣THEY RUIN YOUR SELF BELIEF
 
Because we belief we are failures of dieting ( rather than the diets being shit)
If you do the smallest thing goes wrong , you throw in the towel – because what’s the point, right?
 
4️⃣THERE IS NO END GAME
 
They don’t teach you what to do after the diet has finished- so you just go back to normal eating and gain it all back
 
They don’t educate you – so youre not self sufficient- so you just keep going back
 
I repeat -Its not your fault 
 
But it is your repsonsbility to change
 
To fix the damage
 
And learn how to lose weight in a way that is nor only physically and mentally healthier for you
 
But actually ENABLES you to lose weight and keep it off

Whether you gain that weight or not all hinges on one thing..
 
Whether you LIKE cardio or not !
 
And this is why 👇
 
If you DON’T enjoy cardio- be it your running, HIIT, spin sessions- but youre doing it because you think you “ SHOULD” for weight loss
 
Your food intake tends to SKY ROCKET 
 
For TWO reasons 
 
1️⃣ You comfort eat 
 
If you hate it, if all you feel is discomfort before during and after, and you dread every session, you’re highly likely to  overindulge on food to make yourself feel better-.
 
Behaviours that create an enjoyment  or pleasure get reinforced in the brain, so the behaviour continues to be repeated again and again- this is how emotional eating behaviours always start btw!!
 
2️⃣ You deserve a treat
 
Or at least think you do, because you worked so hard and you  think you earned it 
 
Using food as something to be earned or deserved is HORRENDOUS for your mindset 
 
And also obviously isn’t going to help you If weight loss is your goal –
 
Especially as people typically end up eating WAY more than they burned off during these sessions 
 
 
So what do you do with this information?
 
If you don’t like the cardio you’re doing- STOP DOING IT!
 
Find a form of exercise you love
 
Get consistent with your daily steps  ( this is still cardio, but wont feel horrendous!)
 
And these issues will disappear entirely
 
And don’t forget , when it comes to weight loss, exercise contributes VERY little anyway
 
So there’s literally NO point or reason to do things you hate!

STOP DOING THIS!
 
Stop trying to find every diet that promises fast weight loss!!
 
You trying to lose weight quickly 
 
IS STOPPING YOU FROM LOSING WEIGHT
 
 
Why? 
 
Because if you lose weight quickly ( aka more than 2lbs a week)
 
It will pile straight back on the minute you stop
 
 
And I get why you’re attracted to quick weight loss- you’ve trained yourself to expect quick weight loss
 
And ALL the diets out there promise it
 
These beliefs are the reason that when the weight loss is SLOWER, you give up 
 
BUT THIS IS WHERE THE SUCCESS IS!!
 
ACCEPTING , and EMBRACING a slower pace
 
 
 
You don’t need another shake, mounjaro , that influencer meal plan
 
You need consistency
 
You need patience 
 
You need to do the reps daily, 
 
Doing the BORING stuff
 
Rinse and repeat
 
In a world where we expect quick fixes, fast delivery and solutions
 
When it comes to weight loss
 
You must learn than slower=success

1️⃣ Youre too active!
 
Well, at innaprropriate times anyway
 
We need to sync our exercise with our cycle as women, failure to do so HUGELY contributes to the lack of energy , poor mood and cravings we have the week before our period
 
💫what to do instead: the first 2 weeks of your cycle ( day 1 of bleeding , to ovulation) are the time to push hard at the gym and with runs. 

Slow down the week before – be it no gym time. a reduction in sessions or even a reduction in weight / intensity.
 
2️⃣ Youre  doing intermittent fasting and shoudnt be!
 
ALL ( yes ALL) the positive research has been done in men
 
Further more, while it has positive effects on insulin resistance in men , the  research shows it has a NEGATIVE impact on this in women!
 
( usual shit , we are always ignored in the research🙄)
 
What’s worse? If you have a poor relationship with food, intermittent fasting will make it go further downhill, as it often ends up mimicking a binge-restrict cycle 
 
💫what to do instead: eat 3 meals a day like a normal person!!
 
 
3️⃣ You’re not adjusting your nutrition around your cycle
 
DID YOU KNOW-our metabolism actually speeds UP just before our period
 
So-we need to be eating MORE in this phase- and most women don’t
 
And this is one of the main reasons our hunger and cravings are usually out of control!
 
💫what to do instead: you need to eat around 9% more food!

Social media is AWFUL for weight loss advice ( well, in general anyway!) 
 
Full of those that are unqualified
 
Or using their follower count to make a quick and easy buck ( hello £37 meal plan!)
 
The more you try to understand nutrition
 
The more confusing it gets 
 
So when you next follow someone with an amazing body, that “must know what theyre talking about because they have 500k followers” 
 
Dig a bit deeper- look at their website, what  experience, what qualifications do they have? 
 
If this information isn’t forthcoming, theres usually a reason why!

I need you to instead say to yourself

“Now isn’t the time to look after myself and put myself first a bit more”

 And see how that feels

Because this is exactly what you’re doing 

Look, I know life  is busy

But when is it actually going to slow down enough , for a sustained period of time- for it to be the right time?

I know summer is busy, that it’s a hard time to lose weight

But Summer is actually the PERFECT time , because .. 👇

In order lose weight and keep it off , You DESPERATELY need to learn how to find balance and moderation with alcohol, holidays, your favourite foods

So what BETTER time than in the summer?

It might be that you haven’t thought about it this way ☝️

But it’s more likely  that your justification for not starting is an EXCUSE

Because you’re not sure where to turn next 

Because you’re scared of failure 

Which is understandable- because you’ve failed on lots of diets before

But please know one thing- those diets have failed YOU, you haven’t failed THEM

It is near on impossible to lose weight and keep it off with THOSE diets
