“Yeah, I watch horror movies for fun and to unwind.” Is usually my answer when I get asked about my love for Halloween. But it really goes deeper. I grew up when all of the best horror movies came out. I was raised on Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Jason voorhees. Scream wasn’t just a movie but an era, and if you didn’t have home made costumes or neighborhood Halloween parties that spanned all of the backyards, you didn’t have a childhood. (Okay I’m being dramatic, but really.) I grew up in an era that celebrated nostalgia because we were LIVING in it. We stuffed Orange trash bags with leaves and left them outside as decorations. We filled little white bags with tissues and hung them on tree branches as ghosts. And we loved every second of it. What I wouldn’t give to go back and relive those moments. This morning while getting the kitchen cleaned up there was a standoff. Not between me and anyone but between Bumi and Cool Cat. See, cool cat thought it was a great idea to drink his water thank his fenced in area, and when bumi noticed, he essentially guarded the gate so Cool Cat couldn’t get out. Next was a series of hisses, lots of playful “let’s wrestle!” Barks, and me running over to figure out what what even happening.
