Oyster Spread from jollyoyster
With a bachelorette trip to SYV, my favorite road stop in Ventura was the perfect way to kick things off. We got to taste our way through all the different grilled oysters, something I don’t normally get to do.

The Meal as a Whole from na_na_thai
My bachelorette dinner request was immediately Na Na Thai. Such a fun feast to celebrate and share everything on the menu from the lumpia to the khao soi, the pineapple and tofu curry to the most delicious steak with crying tiger, and of course I am always so grateful for the incredible hospitality.

Taco de Camarón from mariscosjalisco
Dare I say this is one of the top bites that truly represents LA. A Jonathan Gold favorite and now an essential LA classic. When a friend comes to town and asks for suggestions, you better believe this shrimp taco was first on the list during our taco crawl.

Ankimo from nsotorestaurant
This was an unexpected cold starter that I would have never ordered on my own, but it completely changed my opinion to prioritize monkfish liver. Served with narazuke, onion, and sumiso, it was a cold and flavorful bite that hit perfectly during this summer heat.

Bluefin Tuna Crudo from barrasantosla
I admit, this might be a repeat best bite in this monthly series, but the intentional simplicity of this crudo makes it one of the best in the city. Meyer lemon, orange, olive oil, and crushed black pepper. It quickly became freduccine’s favorite too from our spontaneous date night adventure.

Summer Tomatoes with Pluots from darlingbyseanbrock
hseanbrock’s new opening focuses on live-fire cooking and seasonal ingredients from Southern California. Listening to him nerd out over the local produce we’re lucky to have made me so excited to return and see how the microseasons are reflected in the ever-changing menu.

baekjeongkbbq is back in Koreatown and I couldn’t be happier! 

Many years ago, the original location was my first taste of KBBQ (thanks to Jonathan Gold) and I instantly became a fan! Whether you go à la carte or trust the combos, the meats are always delicious, but the real star is the shared, interactive experience that makes Baekjeong such a fun night out.

While my instinct is to just do a full recap of Jessie Eats Caviar Week (and honestly, can you blame me), there were other standout bites this month that deserve a moment too. Here are my Best Bites of July:

Cinnamon Roll from baltaire 
Each one of the roaming pastry carts at Baltaire’s brunch is so much fun, but this cinnamon roll is the true showstopper. It’s huge, arrives warm, and gets iced tableside. Make sure to put in your order early before they’re gone.

Hawaiian Kampachi from koastrestaurant 
Served with strawberry verjus, serrano, and lime, this dish tastes like a spicy strawberry margarita in the best possible way. Full Koast recap coming soon.

Roasted Celery Root from saffysla 
Do not miss this. I know the instinct is to go straight for the skewers and meats, but this vegetarian plate with burnt apple harissa, sauerkraut, allium cream, and curry leaves was the most memorable dish of the meal.

Basque Cheesecake from jante_cheesecakes 
Yes, we topped it with caviar for Caviar Week, but even without my favorite delicacy, Jante’s Basque cheesecake is one of the best I’ve ever had. Janet has perfected the golden-brown crust, the light and creamy interior, and that not-too-sweet caramelized finish in every bite.

My Niece’s Composed Caviar Bite
I am Auntie of the Year for opening a tin from the fridge to share with the newest caviar-obsessed fan in the family: my niece (sorry to my sister). And while I had all the usual caviar service accoutrements laid out, she had the brilliant idea to layer the chip under the blini for extra crunch. As a caviar lover, you KNOW I’ll be celebrating National Caviar Day on July 18th.

One of my favorite places to visit every year is petrossianwesthollywood, a restaurant and boutique dedicated entirely to my favorite delicacy. Tasting caviar side by side, appreciating the differences in color, texture, and flavor, is always such a special experience.

And the dish I truly can’t stop thinking about year after year is cheflos10’s caviar soufflé with gruyère cheese, crème fraîche, lemon, chives, and the perfect crown of caviar.

Evenings at the hollywoodbowl are pure summer magic. And while the concerts are the main draw, your choice of dining is half the fun!

Chef suzannegoin and restaurateur carolinestyne have transformed the food and wine at the Bowl into a true culinary destination. With so many options, every visit feels like something new. For this visit we went all in on the Supper in Your Seats BBQ feast for two with ribs, brisket, fried chicken, and all the fixins!

It always feels nostalgic seeing laphil on that stage, earthwindandfire had us dancing in our seats all night, the fireworks at the end might have been the best I’ve ever seen, and now I’m already searching for the next concert to add to the summer lineup.

I finally had the chance to check out some exciting new openings with the official start of summer, and an amazing trip to Chicago brought even more memorable bites. Here are my Best Bites of June:

Potato ‘Nduja Tart from lulacafe
After multiple recommendations from friends, we headed to brunch at this Chicago staple known for its thoughtful, farm to table menu. This seasonal tart made with Prairie Breeze cheddar, caramelized onion, farm honey, and ‘nduja paired beautifully with the energy of a summer city day.

Mangoneada Margarita from daisy.losangeles
Let’s be honest, as a lifetime valley girl I’m selfishly thrilled to welcome a margarita bar to Sherman Oaks. If you’re a fan of mango, this cocktail is for you. It’s layered with Oaxacan mango brandy, mango purée, house-made mango chamoy, and a pop of mango boba on top.

Not that I ever need an excuse to celebrate with caviar, but this kind engagement gift became the perfect treat to enjoy during the Tony Awards. And how cute are these roe bites?

Dungeness Crab and Almond from smythchicago
Dining at Smyth was a top priority for our Chicago trip, and this was hands down my favorite dish from the tasting menu. Delicate, unexpected, and a combination that has stuck with me.

We mentioned to the Smyth team that we were thinking about heading downstairs after dinner to try the burger. (Maybe a little over the top, but when in Chicago right?) To our surprise, it was sent up as our final savory course. A classic burger with pickled and charred onion, sesame seed bun, and frites.

I’ve said it before, but Sogo’s black cod remains one of my favorite bites in the city. It’s the best miso-less miso black cod, made with soy sauce, lemon, ginger, sake, and cucumber. Still feeling grateful to have been part of this year’s James Beard Awards. Honored to do what I do, celebrating the chefs, restaurants, and food stories that shape how we connect to culture, memory, and each other.

Getting to experience Chicago with my freduccine made it even better. We covered some ground, from a historic jazz bar and Wrigley field baseball stadium, to a 3 star Michelin meal, to a classic Italian beef, and a Chicago dog. This trip was packed with moments I’ll never forget.

Cheers to the chefs and restaurateurs I admire, continuing to meet more of the people shaping the food world, and celebrating the milestones along the way.

Completely in awe as we were transported from the buzz of Bangkok to this modern German tasting menu from mathias_suhring and thomas_suhring.

restaurant_suhring showcases dishes inspired by family recipes, childhood memories, and travels. Classic German dishes reimagined into intricate and beautifully prepared plates, from labskaus to brathering to wildpastete, everything elevated yet still holding onto the heart of tradition.

Tucked away in a charming home surrounded by lush garden views, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for lunch. The wine pairings were absolutely spot-on, enhancing every bite. From the food to the hospitality, it’s easy to see why this spot is recognized among theworlds50best and michelinguide.

Charlie’s Fried Chicken from charlies_nv
I’m always on the hunt for new restaurants to recommend when I’m up north, and I’m so happy to have tried chefelliotgbell’s spot in St. Helena. A neighborhood place I could see myself frequenting if I lived up north, especially to get my hands on this fried chicken: double-fried and somewhere between Korean and Southern-style, served with housemade pickles, hot sauce, fancy ranch, and yes, topped with regiisova caviar.

Caviar and Soft Serve from charlies_nv 
I admit it was my first time pairing caviar with vanilla ice cream, and I’m forever changed. Especially with a drizzle of olive oil. I think I’ve found my new favorite dessert.

Pizza Fritta from francopepeingrani
A pop-up at pizzeriamozza finally gave me the chance to try Franco Pepe’s legendary pizza! While the Margherita Sbagliata has become famous thanks to chefstablenetflix, it was the pizza fritta that I can’t stop thinking about. And swhen Franco Pepe himself flies with his dough from Italy, you know it’s the real deal.

Boat Noodle Soup from Watthaila
Not one day had passed since coming home from Bangkok before freduccine turned to me and said he was craving Thai street food. Lucky for us, the weekend food market at Wat Thai Temple delivered all the flavors, feels, and nostalgia we were craving.

Smoked Spaghetti from osteriamozza
The Amaro Bar Pasta Tasting might just be my new favorite tasting menu in LA. Five courses for $75?! Every plate was pasta heaven, but it was the opening dish with botarga, lemon, and bonito flakes that completely stole the show. 2025-06-03 05:55:04 Work,.. 145 -39% 17 -67%
This year’s bottlerocknapa weekend was packed with amazing music, and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE! 

Music highlights were lawrencetheband, grace__bowers, and my new love bensonboone (yes, I’m late to the game).

And the food lineup was just as strong with no shortage of caviar!

But justintimberlake headlining made this a year to remember. Already counting down to next year!

While in Bangkok, we happily tasted our way through as many mango sticky rice vendors as possible. And by the end of the week, our personal favorite was maevareeofficial. Getting to enjoy it right at the peak of mango season was pure sticky rice magic.

Traveling for me is always through the lens of food. And while the meals eventually end, the biggest takeaway is the people. Poo Phad Yellow Curry from jayfaibangkok
While I went in anticipating the famous crab omelet, it was the stir-fried crab meat in yellow curry that completely stole the show. Huge chunks of crab in a deeply flavorful curry made for an unexpected standout.

Detail and Memories from restaurant.potong
Every course at Potong feels intentional and emotional, but this one stood out most. Kuay Chap with pork tongue, rich pork broth, and caviar captured the soul of the restaurant and Chef.Pam’s storytelling all in one bowl.

Tofu with Ikura from gaggan_anand
There’s nothing quite like being invited into someone’s home and seated around a table for a meal like this. Gaggan had just returned from Japan and created a feast inspired by his travels. This dish of fried soft tofu, dashi, & ikura was simple, pure, and delicious. 

Labskaus from restaurant_suhring
A traditionally humble German dish of corned beef, beets, and potatoes was transformed into a refined, stunning bite of raw beef and caviar. Just one of the many ways thomas_suhring & mathias_suhring play with dishes across their modern German tasting menu.

Sip Some Thai Cocktails from eatmerestaurant
One of the best recommendations I received (thanks na_na_thai) was to grab cocktails here! With a menu inspired by classic Thai dishes, like Tom Yum Goong it felt like sipping the essence of the dish in cocktail form, refreshingly clever without ever feeling gimmicky.

Mangosteen (thanks to gaggan_anand)
Enjoying fruit while in season is such a gift and my heart will forever belong to the mangosteen. Plump, juicy, sweet, and always refreshing. This was the last thing I ate before heading to the airport, and Gaggan made sure I had my fill. 


Blue Swimming Crab Curry with Crispy Rice Noodles from nusarabkk
