When I found out I was pregnant my goal has been to be as active for as long as I can throughout my pregnancy, while also adapting things as needed 🫶🏼 and I am so grateful I have been able to do that so far 🥹

I really did think I’d still be doing full pull ups at the end of pregnancy and well, let’s just say I am humbled 🥲

Our TTC Journey. Please don’t read the below if you find this topic triggering.

We always knew we wanted to start a family but I’ve always believed in timing. They say you will never truly feel completely ready and while I resonate with that to an extent I also know that for us, we do feel ready for this next chapter. 

For me, I wanted to process and grieve my Dad before becoming a Mum and I also wanted to train and run those 57 miles for him and there wasn’t a world where I would have done that pregnant.

We spend our whole life avoiding pregnancy and all of a sudden we are like okay let’s do it and so we truly didn’t know what to expect or how long it would take… If it would be easy or hard. We just knew that we wanted to try, no matter what our journey ahead looked like.

So, we both started taking our pre-natals, doing everything as normal and a week after we got engaged we decided to take a test. Steven had a feeling I was pregnant but I wasn’t sure, I didn’t want to get my hopes up (or his) so I was quietly optimistic. 

I had been having such vivid dreams where my Dad told me that I was pregnant. Dreams so vivid I felt like it happened. I was so bloated and tired but so many pregnancy symptoms are the same as PMS, so I didn’t want to get too excited.

We sat on the bed while we waited for the test to develop and that felt like the longest wait ever. I kept thinking about how quickly life can change. In a few minutes our entire world could change or it stays the same. We closed our eyes and opened as I turned the test over. Two very solid blue lines. Pregnant. I did another test. Two lines again.

It wasn’t until we had our first early viability scan at 7 weeks that it started to sink in that there is a magical little soul growing inside of me but seeing my body begin to change, that’s what made it feel so real.

Becoming a Mumma has always been something I’ve wanted, ever since I could remember and being able to create life with the love of my life is something I’ll never ever take for granted.

Telling my mummy I’m becoming a mummy 🥹😭❤️🐣

She always told me “one day, when you become a mummy, you’ll understand” and now I’m beginning to.

It’s so special and at yet at same time bittersweet as there’s a very important person missing, my Dad. 

I just know he would have been the most incredible Grandpa alongside my Mumma. I know I they’ll never meet earth-side, the week we found out we were pregnant I had the most vivid dreams with my Dad and my pregnant belly. He told me what we were having and it felt like I was spending time with him.

When I was picking out the cards to tell our family I was drawn to this one, I wasn’t sure why until I turned them over once I got home… A cheetah on the back. My Dad’s favorite animal.

I don’t know if you believe in things like this but months ago I asked my Dad to send me a sign in the form of a Cheetah. It was so specific I wasn’t sure he’d be able to pull it off. But there it was, a little reminder that he’s still here with us somehow.

Sometimes people ask me what I’m training for and yes I have different goals but I wish I had my mum training with me all the time so I could just point to her and say “this is what I’m training for”

More than ever, being pregnant, I want to look after my body as much as I can, there’s even more of a why now.
For myself AND for my family.

The way your life will look and feel later on is determined by what you do now.
What you do or don’t prioritize.
The choices you make.

Looking at my Mum and seeing what she can do shows me that age really just is a number when you truly look after yourself from the inside out.

I have been working out throughout my pregnancy so far and my intention is to be able to do that safely for as long as I can!

The first trimester I did scale back my workouts a little in intensity and weight, so I opted for higher reps with a rep range, slightly less weight when I needed to & longer rest times between sets.

But honestly, even though I was tired, workouts did help me feel more like myself when I was struggling with some of the changes, whether it was lifting weights, going for a walk or doing some gentle yoga, it helped so much.
