I don’t know what took me so long to try mamiekitchenla but now that I have, I’m already planning my next visit.

This is another excellent Italian deli and grocery store serving up large focaccia sandwiches that embodies Italy in every bite. The bread is thick and crispy and absolutely delicious!

I got the Colucci which had prosciutto cotto (ham), crema di parmigiana, spicy roasted eggplant, sautéed wild mushrooms, and baby arugula. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients and combined with the excellent focaccia bread, I can’t wait to try their other sandwiches. 2025-08-28 07:47:18 I don’t know what .. 15 -84% 2 -85%
These are some of the best donuts I’ve ever had!! This is stansdonutshop in Santa Clara.

It’s cash only and there will be a line but it moves fast. The glazed donuts were some of the lightest, softest, freshest I’ve EVER had and are worth coming here just for that. But their Bavarian cream was also delicious and the powdered one was filled with a lemon cream. Honestly they are all delicious and I think I’ve found my new go to spot for donuts when I’m visiting NorCal. I’ve already gone back twice during my short visit. 2025-07-21 02:25:53 These are som.. 36 -61% 13 -4%
gaoskabobla in Rowland Heights is an amazing dinner spot for kabobs, seafood boils, noodles, rice and more! We ate so much there and everything was fantastic.

The eclectic interior will get you in the mood for some flavor packed meat skewers from lamb to beef to chicken skin. Get a seafood boil and dive in with your hands (gloves optional) for some of the tastiest shrimp and crab legs soaked in a garlic butter sauce.

Thank you gaosbbqandcrab.official for an amazing meal. With multiple locations are the US, definitely find one close by if you can! It’s worth it! 2025-07-17 21:13:24 gaoskabobla in Rowland .. 41 -55% 7 -48%
saucy_bird_la’s giant inflatable chicken is guiding you to some great chicken wings, burgers, tenders, fries, and salads over here on the Westside. Located on Pico near the old Westside Pavilion they will soon be celebrating their one year anniversary and with spacious indoor dining, this is the perfect hangout come football season. But don’t wait that long to visit, you can try their delicious chicken any time of the year.

Like Joey from Friends, I love a good sandwich and lorenzolacalifornia makes some of the best Florentine style ones around. The focaccia bread is fresh and crispy and they only use the best ingredients. This is the Lorenzo which has mortadella with parmigiano pate, toasted pistachio, roasted bell pepper and fresh basil. This one and the Salamino are my favorites but I heard their meatball is good too and I definitely need to it when it’s available. Has anyone else been here before and which is your favorite sandwich? 2025-05-21 08:04:41 Like Joey from Friends,.. 40 -57% 13 -4%
bungraze in Little Tokyo is a spot not to be missed. They are located steps away from the Metro so you can easily get to it. Everyone was super friendly and helpful - I gotta give a big shout out to Sarita for her warm hospitality when I visited. With its unique spin on the bun by using freshly baked flat bread, these burgers are packed with flavor and dare I say feel lighter / healthier because you are not weighed down by a heavy bun. The meat is 100% grass feed and the SunGraze burger which I tried was huge. I practically had to unhinge my jaw to get a bite. While Little Tokyo is known for sushi and Japanese restaurants, if you are looking for something different, this is the spot to visit. 2025-05-06 06:20:36 bungraze in Little Tokyo .. 38 -59% 12 -12%
sushigendtla’s sashimi deluxe platter is a beautiful sight to behold. I wasn’t expecting it to be this large, it can definitely be shared by two, maybe even three people. I did end up bringing some leftovers home (leave no fish behind!). The fish was so fresh and everything from the fatty tuna, salmon, even the tomago was delicious. However I learned that I am not a straightforward sashimi girl, I need to have some rice with every bite of fish but that’s just me. I would also love to come here for lunch sometime as I heard their lunch specials are pretty hard to beat. I can definitely see why! 2025-04-21 11:08:25 sushigendtla’s sash.. 34 -63% 9 -34%
Finally made it to anajakthaifood winner of the LA Times Restaurant of the Year in 2022, 2023 James Beard winner for best chef, 2024 Michelin winner for Best Sommelier and many other awards. I came for Thai Taco Tuesday but messed up on the date so I ended up eating here two weeks in a row (I’m not complaining). Here are some of my favorites that I tried - the fried chicken, Dungeness crab fried rice, and the sea bass tacos. The portions are kind of small, the tacos are two biters and the drunken noodles I thought I would have leftovers but I ended up finishing the entire plate. But otherwise the flavors are very good and I really enjoyed all the dishes. Definitely a must visit and I’m glad I finally checked it off my LA bucket list! Next time I’ll have to check out their regular menu. 2025-04-20 10:30:06 Finally made it to .. 52 -43% 14 +3%
If you love sandwiches then you have to get yourself to jeffs___table. It’s been a while since I’ve been in Highland Park, but when I found myself there last month, I knew I had to stop by.

This is the Jeff’s Special which is not just special but extraordinary. Thick cuts of sliced pastrami, cheese, and sauerkraut on a toasted rye bread - every bite is worth savoring. I inhaled it in about five minutes flat.

Jeff has been slinging sandwiches from the back room of a local liquor store for a while now and they always rise to the occasion in times of need for their local community. When you order a sandwich, there is an option to donate and buy a first responder a sandwich and Jeff and his team will help organize a drop off. Small businesses need our support more than ever as they also support and feed others in need. 2025-02-25 10:47:05 If you love sandwic.. 49 -47% 10 -26%
This past weekend, local LA bakers (including yours truly!) got together and made homemade baked goodies and treats for a bake sale fundraiser at Carla’s Fresh Market in Highland Park. All proceeds were donated to World Central Kitchen (wckitchen) who have been providing meals and assisting those impacted by the California wildfires.

The turnout was amazing! There were so many great chefs, bloggers, and bakers providing delicious desserts from cakes to conchas, to mochi to foccacia bread. People came out in a steady stream of support and all baked goods ended up selling quickly.

Many thanks to emilylaurae and carlasfreshmarket and all the amazing bakers I met! Some of them are tagged here below (I’m sorry if I missed anyone!). I recommend checking out their accounts for some amazing food / recipe content. I hope to see many more bakers (and eaters) at the next bake sale!

If you want to treat yourself to some delicious French pastries, then you have to visit Glendale’s latest new French pastry shop, coolbitespatisserie which opened this past April. The spotless shiny cases are filled with gorgeous desserts. I tried a variety of pastries from an earl grey eclair to a Paris Brest, to lemon curd tart and all were fantastic. Head chef and co-owner Anita Aykazyan along with her sister Natalia Haykazyan are creating these amazing treats so if you are looking for a fancy dessert place or want to impress your friends when throwing a dinner party, then you have to check this place out!! 2024-12-10 10:27:07 If you want to treat yo.. 835 +808% 42 +210%
JanEatsJapan - Part 1. Here is everything I ate at the Tsukiji Outer Market. I know people say it’s touristy but I personally loved it and thought was definitely worth a visit. And since we were only one subway stop away, we ended up going three times! I loved walked around and checking out all the stalls and seeing the variety of the fresh fish, and being able to stop and taste a lot of little small bites. The only problem was I wanted to eat everything and it was so hard to decide!! These are some bites that we got:

- tuna and eel bowls from Tsukiji Itadori Unitora
- fatty tuna
- strawberry mochi
- Hokkaido milk and matcha soft serve
- beef curry bun
- inari pocket with crab meat and ikura
- Wagyu beef

JanEatsKorea - hi everyone I know it’s been a while but I’ve been offline due to traveling. I went to Korea and Japan for the first time and of course the food there was amazing. Here is a quick snapshot of everything I ate starting in Korea where I waited in line at pop-up stands, went to night markets, ate a ton of great pastries at different cafés and discovered salt bread, which I’m sure can be found in LA somewhere. I’m on a mission to find a great place that carries it, so if you know of any, please leave a comment below!

This French bakery is soon to be celebrating their one year anniversary in Los Angeles and owner Kay Kara has a lot to celebrate from catering special events to celebrity clientele all clamoring for a taste of their fabulous desserts. Korean food on the Westside! This is not a drill. If you are looking for some delicious pork bone soup, galbijim or galbi ribs and don’t want to drive all the way to Korean town then check out jincook_santamonica on Wilshire and Stanford.

This braised beef short rib also known as galbi-jim is a sizzling dish packed with short rib, rice cake, veggies, in a soy based sauce. It was salty but also sweet, with very tender beef and was one of my favorites. The other dish I really liked was their pork soup which came with glass noodles. I’m definitely excited to have delicious Korean comfort food nearby where you don’t have to drive an hour for! 2024-10-03 06:04:50 Korean food on the .. 62 -33% 14 +3%
Did you all know it’s National Cheeseburger Day today? While McDonald’s is giving out $.50 double cheeseburgers, here is a better option and it’s hihocheeseburger with multiple locations around the city. It’s made from 100% grass fed Wagyu beef and you can taste the quality in every bite. Also of note don’t forget to get their milkshakes and their pie! They are fantastic as well.

I thought I’d share a fun little story for you all - a couple of years ago I went into their location in Santa Monica and immediately upon walking in, I noticed Conan O’Brien sitting there with what looked to be his son. Since I didn’t want to interrupt a family dinner, I went ahead and ordered, but secretly trying to steal sly glances their way. As I waited for my burger, Conan walked over, gave the guy at the register a handshake and said “best burger ever”. I thought that was a nice gesture from him and probably made that guy’s day. I was definitely thrilled that he walked right by me. Anyway my point is, if teamcoco says it’s great then it must be so, right? 2024-09-19 09:55:53 D.. 46 -50% 17 +25%
Am I thinking about turning another year older or am I thinking about where I should eat out next? It’s probably a little bit of both to be honest. Over Labor Day weekend, I enjoyed a birthday dinner at sunday.gravy, a place that’s been on my list for a long time and I figured my birthday was finally a good reason to check them out.

This old school red sauce Italian place is actually run by a brother and sister duo Sol and Ghazi Bashirian who took over their father’s Ahmad restaurant, Jino’s Pizza and Deli, a legendary staple in Inglewood for over 42 years. It’s a small space churning out delicious Italian comfort food at its finest. This is what we ordered:

1) Chicken milanese
2) Crab mafaldine
3) Lasagna Al forno
4) Cheesy garlic bread
5) Beef bolognese
6) Caesar salad

My favorites were the crab mafaldine and the chicken Milanese but everything was delicious. Here’s to another year of great eating! 2024-09-17 11:18:06 Am I thinking.. 84 -9% 22 +62%
With a name like breadheadla you know the bread is the star vehicle carrying a prized possession of high quality meats, cheeses, vegetables and spreads. These sandwiches are massive, I only got half a portion and it was still quite filling.

This is the Combo Grinder and the ingredient list is stacked with a who’s who of top tiered Italian meats and cheeses. The sandwich is expertly layered with Fra’mani Salami Cotto, Hot Coppa, Pit Smoked Ham, Aged Provolone, Pepperoncini, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Roasted Peppers, Everything Spice, Lemon Pine Nut Spread, and Red Wine Vinaigrette.

I love Italian sandwiches is this one is top tier and Bread Head is on my growing list of favorite spots in LA. padmalakshmi has a reel highlighting some her go to’s and who am I to argue with her picks? I’m definitely looking forward to trying those as well! 2024-08-30 10:13:53 With a name like .. 51 -45% 10 -26%
When you are in the mood for delicious carbs you can’t go wrong with this pillowy goodness of housemade bread from robertaspizza in Culver City. Get it with the creamy stracciatella and you can enjoy it as your whole meal.

Located in the heart of Venice is simonla, a beautiful restaurant with an outdoor patio, known for their Central American and California cuisine fusion. This was my first time there and everything we tried was amazing. Here is what we ordered:

1) Green banana patacones - deep fried green banana with ajillo sauce - I wasn’t expecting this dish to come with so many pieces and was definitely worth it, crispy, but not too greasy, it was like the perfect hashbrown
2) Afro-Caribbean shrimp dumplings - beautifully plated and swimming in a delicious spice forward coconut bisque
3) Kanpachi en banana leaf - reminded me of Thai flavors and the fish was delicate and tender
4) Fried chicken drumsticks with herbed salt, spicy ketchup and curtido (cabbage slaw) - moist inside and had a great crunch exterior, definitely a fan
5) I forgot the name of this dessert, but it was a chocolate ganache with yogurt, slightly tart and a little unusual but after a few bites, I really started to enjoy it

It was a really great meal and definitely worth checking out! And it’s perfectly located to do an after dinner stroll by the beach. 2024-08-13 21:23:42 Located in the heart .. 59 -36% 15 +11%
dearjanesla,

Thanks for an absolutely delicious meal. The chicken parm was perfection, I’ve never seen it executed this way with the bone in and stuffed with cheese. The lobster pasta was decadent, and even the crusty bread was on point. And of course dessert was a 10/10. I hope to be back soon!

dinela is coming to a close soon so you better grab this deal from leidcookies in Culver City where you get a sampler box of six cookies for $15. JanEatsChicago - last week I went to Chicago for the first time and did a lot of research prior to going of where to eat. I definitely wanted to hit the typical Chicago staples like deep dish pizza, Garrett’s popcorn, and Chicago dog but I also ended up eating at a lot of places featured on thebearfx. Here are my top three best eats - burger from auchevaldiner, pizza from robertspizzaco and the Italian beef and cannoli from mr.beefchicago.

In additions here is a recap with pics below:
1) Burger from auchevaldiner with a fried egg and double thick bacon. They don’t take reservations so the key is to come during off hours. We came at 2:30pm and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table.
2) Prosciutto and arugula pizza from robertspizzaco, voted among the top 50 pizzas in the US (this one came in at #10), and I could definitely see why. This was some of the best pizza I’ve eaten and confirms I am a thin crust over a deep dish gal
3 and 4) Italian beef featured on thebearfx. This was messy to eat, but you just have to dive in and enjoy it. Definitely different than anything I’ve had before, the beef was thinly sliced and moist from the juice it’s dunked into. Also a must is their fresh homemade cannoli for dessert.
5) Deep dish pizza from pequodspizza. They are know of their caramelized crust and we got ours with extra cheese, onions, meatballs and pepperoni. The server moved too fast and sliced up that pizza before I could take a pic of it whole.
6) the cevapi sandwich from domameanshome. I believe their breakfast sandwich was also on The Bear and it was delicious, I just didn’t have a good pic. This one is just as good.
7) Donuts from firecakes - good but not a must get
8) Ice cream from kilwinschicago
9) Chicago dog from devil.dawgs

There were a bunch of other places I had on my list but missed out so I guess a second trip will need to be made! 2024-07-16 19:19:52 JanEatsChicag.. 67 -27% 15 +11%
