There are a lot of things I don’t share on social media. I live with an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) since I was 17 years old. I’ve struggled with my mental and physical health for over 10 years. I’ve always been a sensitive soul, and my thyroid issues made me more prone to depression and anxiety. In 2017, after grieving a deep loss in 2015, I started SSRIs. I got off them on my own in 2020. The withdrawal was beyond intense. My normal weight was 130–140 lbs, but on SSRIs I went up to 180 lbs. I lost 20 lbs on my own, then dropped 60 lbs in one month during withdrawal. I got down to 109 lbs. I was so disconnected, I couldn’t even read or write. At the same time, I had five surgeries: a benign tumor removed from my chest, gallbladder removed due to gallstones, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, and a broken pinky toe surgery that left me immobile for months. This all happened while the world was in a pandemic. From 2020 to 2022, I went through a deep recovery. In 2023, I took my power back and decided I was in control - not what happened to me. What you see online is what I choose to share. You don’t see me catching my breath from panic attacks, ER visits, or the severe migraines that come from exhaustion. Being vulnerable like this is hard, but maybe someone out there needs to hear this: you are not alone. I don’t teach yoga, meditation, or do sound baths to look a certain way. I do it because it truly SAVED my life. Feeling great in my body is just a plus. Yoga, sound, + mediation gave me space to feel everything and move through it—that’s real medicine. I believe I’m here to remind others: you can survive whatever you’re going through and rise again. I recently got bloodwork back and my Hashimoto’s still needs work. The journey continues. We rise like the sun. We shine on. Phoenix energy—always. This is your reminder that not everything is as it seems. Keep going and be kind.
