Chest Day Staples

Cable Flys are always a good option to get the chest pumped up and ready for action. You won’t be as strong on your compounds though so that’s the cost of it.

Incline Bench Press in the power racks so that as soon as you fail the option to bust a few lengthened partials are there to do.

📍Sunday workout

It was upper body today since we had a day extra rest. 
When trying to build a good upper an easier way to go about it would be to just think Push/Pull + Vertical/Horizontal.
So a push exercise that vertical and one that goes horizontal. Then the same for pull. Basic info for some but others could find it easy to follow. Then anything after the 4 exercises you chose can be the added stuff you enjoy ie. Biceps/triceps.
Remember…when the going gets tough the tough get going

Anyone that knows me knows that I eat the same foods on repeat. For some people (like me) that works fine. It saves me the hassle of thinking what I need to eat to get my calories and macros in. Plus it makes it better when something different gets ate.

These two exercises combined let the biceps work hard at their most shortened state and longest state IF you do them correctly.

📍 Extra ROM Cable Curls
These aren’t the best for going heavy BUT the extra lift at the top helps contract the biceps that little bit more so it’s good for putting all that blood into the muscle. 

📍 Incline DB Curls
A big bad stretch at the deepest part of the exercise. So don’t curl up too early; let them stretch as far as you can

Progressively overloading an exercise until it’s your b*tch made simple.

Whilst I’m doing this very thing with my shoulder press I’ll take the opportunity to let you understand how it’s done.

2 key points
1. Sets and Reps target
2. Full Range of Motion with sets and reps

I’ll use my first set at the new weight to gauge how many reps I can get in. I’ll then typically get 3/4 sets in aiming for that number.
eg. 3 sets of 6 reps
Once that’s been achieved as I’m hopeful. I’ll be looking to get 3 sets of 6 reps with FULL RANGE OF MOTION. 
All the way down and all the way up.
Currently I’m at 2 sets of 6 reps with ok ROM and even 1 rep each workout is progress but we obviously strive for more. 

Once all is achieved then it’ll be time to move up weight. Cause what’s the point in moving up a level when you’ve not completed the one before?

We’re not striving for perfection but we are looking for improvement.

The Bent Over Cable Chest Fly

If you’re someone who finds it difficult to feel your chest contract then this and I have just sorted you out.

Probably my favourite chest exercise for a contraction. Which also means a dirty pump.

Think elbows together on the way in with the cables. Allow your chest to flow down when your arms are raising back up for a bit more stretch.

I took these videos a week ago to highlight how to get the most out of squatting on the smith machine…deep range of motion, slow eccentric etc…

BUT!

Call me mental right, but when I watched them back I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact I felt my quads looked tiny 🙃 and not to toot my own horn but I don’t think my legs are that small.
Even at that though I didn’t like the videos that much that it stopped me from editing them. 

That kinda stuff happens to me all the time. I video content, I judge the way it looks, I just patch it. I get a good amount of business from social media and posting content so what tf am I doing that for?

That ain’t right. That’s unhealthy tbh. Angles lighting and the rest of it aren’t gonna be on point all the time so not everything is gonna look perfect. Get a grip.

Lesson learned from it. Stop acting like a lil b*tch and get on with it. Judging yourself into the ground is only gonna hold you back. The critic in your head can be a real dick sometimes.

Chest eh? Mans favourite muscle to work but sometimes kinda tricky to feel. Here’s what I would consider an effective workout that would engage the pecs. 

Example workout:
Flat Chest Press Machine - slow concentrics (slow push out)
2x15
Incline Smith Bench Press - slow eccentrics (slow on way down)
4x10
Incline DB Press - Deep ROM
4x8-15 (dependant on fatigue)
Incline DB Flys - slow eccentrics
3x8
Flat Chest Press Machine 
2x20

Cable Incline Curls **ELBOWS**

Keep your elbows pointing behind you.
That’s the tip. A top tip. For a mad pump. Nae cheating and half repping it either. Get those arms stretched right oot.

If you can’t do the exercise without bringing your elbows forward when curling then it’s just too damn heavy!
