I had to say it 🫢 1️⃣I don’t accept “for exposure” shoots. I make sure it align with what I am looking for and if we can work out a trade we do, but mainly if you’re a stranger I don’t care how may followers you have “for exposure” is a lie (except if T swift wants me to photograph the wedding I’m down) 2️⃣Time is valuable, but experience means more. I have gone over 10-15 mins just to provide the best experience for the clients. They remember how you make them FEEL over a rushed timeline with a hard out. 3️⃣I don’t need a detailed timeline. I’m type B about this especially if everything is at one location. I’m going to be there regardless so hit me with the highlight points of the day and the rest will work itself out. If anything, I’d rather know about the family shot list and must have shots than every single detail of when and what shot and shoe will be put on by who. What’s your wedding hot take? Hey!! If you’ve never seen me on your page before, I’m Jenn, an Army Veteran turned Tampa Bay Wedding photographer. If you asked me even 5 years ago if I would be doing this, I would have laughed in your face, but God had other plans. I am passionate about elevating your wedding day experience and capturing all elements of the day - even things you didn’t even know were happening to preserve all emotions of your day.

I will try anything once… and the results were 🤯 I am still experimenting with this technique, but from what I found, it does allow you more control of where you want the light when there is nowhere to bounce your flash.

It’s about the experience you create for your clients. Starting out, you may not be able to make custom boxes with their names on it, but you can write a note to your clients, send them an e-gift card, etc. It’s the intention that counts.

Challenge yourself to do something different each time you’re photographing. Always at the same venue? Try and change it up and get different shots, angles, levels. I always try and challenge myself to create something different, even if I am in a plain space. 
Intentionality of images and taking the time to curate your website/brand into something that you believe in will make a world of difference. Show the work you want to get on your platforms, and creatively it will also fuel you. Keep reaching out to the networks and creating imagery that feels genuinely you, whether that is luxury or not. the alignment will keep you from burning out

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good curated flat lay But honestly, it does not fit my candid in the moment style of photography, nor does it feel natural. 

Sometimes it’s the half-eaten piece of cake, the sunglasses, and phone on the table 

I told myself to think differently when I took these shots, and people loved my idea.

I’ll be blunt and completely honest - with little to no explanation

1. If you have a complex timeline, different setups, and mulitple vendors, and locations, you’ll want to have a planner in some capacity. 
2. You don’t always need a second shooter - opposite to the first point, if you are having a small intimate gathering, two photographers is just a preference 
3. Speeches are done better at the rehearsal dinner 
 4. Late night snacks over a fancy send off 
 5. Cake cuttings (or a fun dessert moment) are better unannounced 
6. Inspo is purely inspo - make sure to have a reality check and ask what is completely possible before you deep dive into planning different wedding shots Do research and continue to educate yourself to stay on track during the process! It’s ok to take time, just let your vendors know and keep them in the know!

Hear me out….They are not necessary in EVERY single one of my packages. If you’re doing a smaller intimate wedding gathering/social hour you often don’t need another photographer unless you want the extra angles. Second photographers are useful when: •large wedding party size •multiple location weddings •far distance between getting ready areas/reception spaces/ceremony •you want extra photos or different angles This helps keep a smooth timeline, but if you’re at a small venue with close quarters, most times you don’t need another photographer. 

Introverts - I’m looking at you from another fellow introvert. A big media team can take away from natural moments of the day, especially if you’re shy or don’t want to make a big to do about your day. Keeping the team small, especially at a smaller venue, can make the day feel more intimate. Not sure if you need to have another photographer at your wedding? All this just to say…. Have a budget in mind. Sometimes it can vary SO much between what one person thinks is affordable or budget friendly. I’ve seen budget friendly mean $500 and to others $5000… that’s a major difference!! It saves you and us vendors time in the already what can seem like “overwhelming” wedding planning search.
