🎄Every year swarovski decorates a Christmas tree in the center of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.🌟 And every year it is more and more breathtaking.🎄 There is also a tree next to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, at Piazza Duomo. Wow! It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted last…😳 In the meantime, a lot of things have happened. On this day, two years ago.🔙 Third day of our Norwegian fjords cruise with Disney. 🚢 Lara had her hair done the day before at the 🌟Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique🌟, Josep was starting to make some new friends👋🏻, Jordi was enjoying his cocktails by the pool🍹 and Ines was already in “the oven” (no idea about it yet)🤰🏼😁. It was the last time that we were on a cruise. At the end of it we would book our next one. Look at this magical place.🌟 It wasn’t easy getting here.😁 It took us an hour of the curviest mountain road we have ever been on. A small break so that our car sick son would breathe a little.🤢😂 🌟But it was worth every moment of that hour.🌟 Siurana is a village in Priorat, Catalonia in Spain. This is truly an ideal place to disconnect and reflect.🧘🏼‍♀️ This village was the last Islamic stronghold of Muslim Catalonia. 🌟There are so many stories and legends about this place, but probably one of the most famous is the one of the last Muslim queen.👸🏻 Abdelazia, the Moorish queen, decided to jump down the cliff with her horse rather than being captured by the Christians. The animal in its last resistance left on the rock the footprint of the horseshoe. Can you guess the book where this place is mentioned?📕 Montserrat is less than an hour drive from Barcelona and an hour and a half from where we are spending our Summer 2021. If you are any close, you must visit it!🌟 There are a lot of interesting facts about this place, (googled all of them 😂), but the one that caught my 10 year old, super into history and archeology, son’s attention was the one of its most prominent visitors.👀 As you can imagine, Montserrat has always attracted all sorts of people. There is one particularly curious example of attracting someone not so good; during the WW2 Heinrich Himmler came to Montserrat in search for the Holy Grail. Almost like in the Indiana Jones movies but only in reality. Himmler was positive that in one of the caves of the mountain of Montserrat is hidden a Holy Grail which he believed would give him supernatural powers. The thing that we have been “dreading” since last Summer finally happened.😩 We had to call the disneycruiseline to postpone our 2021 Caribbean cruise.😭 No way we can fly to the States, embark on a ship when only one member of our family is vaccinated.🙄 So we postponed it to Summer 2022. OK. I need to say something: I hate face masks! Seriously, I understand their purpose and I respect it all the time, but I also hate them.🤬 In Italy face masks are absolutely obligatory. Inside and outside. We never go out without a face mask.😷 I repeat, I know it is for our safety and that of others, but when I see a pre-COVID photo like this, I want to scream!😩 I love my kids’ faces without masks. Have you ever thought about babies born during this pandemic?👶🏼 Probably not, if you haven’t had any in the last few months.🤔😁 I look at my Ines and I think how different these months have been for her. By this time in their lives, her brother and sister had embarked on numerous flights, had countless stamps in their passports, already tried out different cuisines and restaurants... She hasn’t had that thrill, it was all home-home for her.❤️ And she is the easiest of babies. Can you think of your most wonderful weekend ever?🌟 Mine happened almost a year ago, a week before the pandemic crisis began in Italy. Josep and I went on a mother-son weekend trip to Vienna. It was his birthday present. He had just turned nine.🎂 Without a doubt, Vienna is an amazing and beautiful city, full of life, culture, magic of old times, music and art. We had wonderful time the two of us and we both decided to go back as soon as we could with the rest of the family.❤️ But that is not why I consider this particular weekend the best of my life. Memories of it are so fresh. It is the freedom that I remember, the joy of going to the concert, eating in a restaurant, standing in front of a painting in a gallery right next to a total stranger, breathing without a mask, being spontaneous. Just the memory of it all warms my heart. As we landed back in Milan, there were already people in protective suits waiting to measure our temperatures.
