Come with me to…

A U.S. Embassy event?!?! 🤯

I had the pleasure of attending a rentrée reception hosted by the new Deputy Chief of Mission, and it was such a great event! 😊

Got to meet and chat with so many amazing people. I really can’t believe little ole me would be invited to an event like this.. just goes to show to KEEP GOING!! You literally never know what could happen 🥹

Thank you so much usembassyfrance for inviting me!❤️🇺🇸

📌save this for next year!

Every year you can watch waiters race through the streets of the Marais in the Course des Cafés☕️

Here’s what you need to know to watch next year:

🎬 The race starts in front of Hôtel de Ville

⏰ This year it started at 9:30am, but check the time next year as it could change. You don’t need to arrive that early. About 20 minutes before will get you a good spot.

🚦It takes them about 30 minutes to complete the course, so you can intercept them at different points in the Marais and then watch them cross the finish line back at Hôtel de Ville

🚶🏻‍♂️Waiters are only allowed to speed walk, not run. So don’t expect to see anyone sprinting with coffee and croissants flying everywhere 😅

🥸 For the first time this year they also had a second race for the public to participate in, so if you want to feel like a Parisian waiter for a day, add that to your bucket list!

This is possibly the most Parisian thing you can see in Paris🥐 and also just so fun to watch, so make sure to add it to your calendar for next year!

September 20 & 21 in Paris are European Heritage Days!🏛️

and that means lots of events happening throughout the city, and most are free! Many buildings or rooms within buildings open only for this weekend of the year, so you have the opportunity to experience a unique side of Paris!

This list definitely isn’t all of the events, but it has a lot of the ones I’ve been seeing advertised over the past week.

One thing to note: most of the events that require a reservation are already fully booked, but there are plenty of other non-reservation events happening too!

When it comes to popular photo spots in Paris…

timing is EVERYTHING!⏰

The nice thing about Paris is that it’s a late-rising city, especially on weekends. Meaning you don’t necessarily need to go out at 6am to get that perfect photo without loads of other people in the background.

Rue de l’Université is one of the most popular Eiffel Tower photo spots now, but you can still get a beautiful pic here if you show up before 9am! 📷

The first two clips were taken at 7pm and the third clip was taken at 8:45am, both in peak tourist season in June.

So yes, you can still get photos in these beautiful spots without the crowds, and without getting up at 5am 😋

WHERE TO SEE FALL FOLIAGE IN PARIS🍂

The city feels so cozy in autumn ☺️ if you want to enjoy the fall foliage, here are some of the best spots to go:

🍁Pretty much any park, but some of my favorites are Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Tuileries, Parc Monceau, Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Place des Vosges

🍁 Climb to one of Paris’s viewpoints to get panoramic views of the foliage: Galeries Lafayette rooftop, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, Montparnasse Tower, Tour Saint-Jacques

🍁 Along the Seine - you can see some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks framed by colorful leaves from different bridges. Some of my favorites are Pont Grenelle, Pont Alexandre III, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf, Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor

🍁 Some of the neighborhoods that look extra beautiful in fall are Montmartre, Le Marais, Ile de la Cité, Saint-Germain-des-Près & the Latin Quarter

While it might sound fun to get married twice, this definitely comes with its own set of challenges 😅

As an American, I find so many things about getting married in France so interesting! And as we’re in the planning process for our wedding (or weddings), I have so many questions since we’re doing our ceremonies on different days (different years, actually 😬)

🗓️Which date will be our anniversary? The civil ceremony or the secular ceremony?

💍Do you like put your rings on during the civil ceremony, then take them off and put them back on again during the second ceremony?

🎉 If you’re doing them on separate days, what do you do after your civil ceremony? Just get married then go about your day as normal? 😅

💌Which ceremony should you read personal vows at??

✈️ Do you go on your honeymoon after the first ceremony or the second? (Especially if they’re far apart)

If you’ve done this I’d love to hear about how you organized it! 😌

the past two years have FLOWN by… 🤯

I can’t believe exactly 2 years ago today I was stepping off the plane at CDG to start my new life here in Paris.. ✈️

So much has happened since then and it’s crazy to think how far I’ve come in learning French, in my relationship, feeling comfortable in Paris, and just in life in general.

In my life I’ve found that some of the scariest decisions I’ve ever made have turned out to be some of the best, so if you’re on the fence about moving abroad or taking a big leap, let this be your sign that it might just turn out better than you could’ve imagined.. 🤍

Visiting Mont Saint-Michel during peak season⏰

📌 save for your trip to France!

August is the most popular month to visit Mont Saint-Michel, and with good reason. It’s the best chance to have a beautiful, sunny day☀️! But good weather means you’re not the only one with the same idea…

So, is it still worth visiting even with the crowds?

In my opinion, yes. So if August is the only month you can visit, I think it’s still worth going because this place is truly MAGICAL✨ and outside of the tiny alleys on the island itself, the crowds really aren’t that bad.

I’d just recommend either going early in the morning or later in the day to avoid the peak crowds, and try to go on a weekday instead of a weekend📆

If you can go another month though, May-September still can have a chance for good weather and perhaps slightly fewer people (although it’s pretty busy year-round).

I was also pleasantly surprised by the prices of things. After writing my thesis about Mont Saint-Michel, it seemed like prices were very high, but we had a drink and an ice cream and prices were actually very reasonable! 💶 That being said, pretty much everything on the island is geared toward tourists so don’t expect any cute, authentic shops or restaurants.

📌 save to discover France beyond Paris!

This is the perfect long-weekend itinerary if you’re based in Paris but want to explore a different part of France for a few days🚘

There are soo many more places in Normandy I would’ve loved to visit if we had more time, but this itinerary is great if you only have a few days, like us, and want to see a mix of nature🌊, cities🏙️and history.

In particular, I would’ve liked to spend more time at the landing beaches. We only stopped at Omaha beach briefly on our way back to Paris, but I’d like to go back to visit the museums and the other landing beaches there.

a weekend in Normandy through my camera lens📷

before this little road trip it had been far too long since I’d taken my camera out😭 despite living in one of the most beautiful cities, I hardly ever bring my camera when I go out in Paris anymore.

How to avoid being pickpocketed in Paris:

My number one tip to keep your belongings safe while you’re visiting Paris or anywhere else is to use pacsafeofficial gear!

Their anti-theft features make sure that you can enjoy your trip stress-free😌 Plus, one of my favorite things about these Pacsafe bags is that they’re made with post-consumer recycled polyester♻️, and combined, they’re the equivalent of 22 plastic bottles.

So they’re protecting your belongings, while also protecting the planet! 🌎

Featured bags🎒:
Pacsafe W Crossbody in Taupe
Pacsafe W Backpack in Taupe

You don’t need to go to the south of France for beautiful beaches! 🏖️

I was blown away by the west coast of France on my recent trip to Normandy 😍 at some of the beaches it actually felt like I was in Florida instead of France! 🌊 (except when you feel the temperature of the water, you’re quickly reminded it certainly isn’t Florida 😅)

The beach in the video is Plage dr Jullouville and it’s located about 3.5 hours from Paris, and only about 40 minutes from Mont Saint-Michel🚘

I’ve always found movie titles in France so amusing😅🍿

I get that sometimes there might not be a direct translation, but most times I feel like there is.. so like why change the name completely? 🤔

a magical place.. 🌅

Welcome to Étretat in the Normandy region of France!

Étretat is best known for its white chalk cliffs which Monet painted numerous times🎨. And now after visiting, I can see why 😍 they are so beautiful!

If you’re coming to Paris and have extra time, I highly recommend taking a day trip to Étretat. It can easily be seen in a day, as the town itself is very small. The main attractions are the cliffs and the gardens🪴.
