📍Name : Forrest Gump Point
Location: Monument Valley, Utah–Arizona Border, USA
Distance : Roadside viewpoint (no hike required)
🏔️ This is the exact spot where Forrest Gump stopped running in the movie, and the view is even more breathtaking in person. The long stretch of highway lined up perfectly with Monument Valley’s towering buttes makes for one of the most iconic road trip photos in the U.S. It feels straight out a movie set because many movies have used this location!
🚗How To Get There : Forrest Gump Point is located along US-163, about 15 minutes north of Monument Valley Tribal Park. It’s clearly marked on maps, and you’ll often see cars pulled over on the shoulder for the famous photo. Parking is limited to the roadside, so use caution with traffic.

Location: Near Hanksville - Utah, USA
Drive: Unpaved Road
Distance : Scenic area with short walks
🚗How To Get There : Factory Butte is located about 12 miles northwest of Hanksville along Highway 24. There’s a dirt road that leads closer to the base, but even seeing it from a far gives you incredible views. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended if you plan to explore the surrounding badlands.
🏔️ Standing in front of Factory Butte feels like stepping into a sci-fi movie. The 6,300 ft flat-topped monolith rises dramatically out of the gray desert badlands, and the colors and textures change throughout the day as the light shifts. We spent time just wandering around the ridges and watching the sunset—it honestly felt like we were on another planet.
🛑 Be prepared: there’s no shade, water, or facilities in the area. Summer heat can be intense, so sunrise or sunset is the best time to visit for both comfort and photography.

Distance : Short walk from parking area
🚗How To Get There : From Hanksville, take Route 24 for about 10 miles, then turn onto Factory Butte Road (unpaved). Turn right onto Skyline View Road until you reach the parking area. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, but in good weather most cars can make it slowly.
🏔️ Standing at the edge of Moonscape Overlook feels like you’ve been dropped onto another planet. The jagged ridges, dramatic drop-offs, and gray-blue badlands stretch endlessly in front of you. It honestly looks like the surface of the moon. We came here before sunrise and it felt out of this world.

Route: A few miles off the paved road.
🚗How To Get There: Bentonite Hills are located just outside Capitol Reef National Park along a dirt road. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended, especially after rain, as the clay soil can get slippery and difficult to drive on.
🏜️ Walking among the Bentonite Hills feels like stepping onto another planet. Out of this world colorful layers of red, gray, and purple clay ripple across the landscape in patterns that look almost unreal. We were the only ones in the area and found ourselves just soaking it in. It’s a place you have to see for yourself to understand.

-Cathedral Valley Loop: 58 mile scenic drive (Long, remote adventure)
-Hickman Bridge Trail: 1.7 miles (Moderate)
-Cassidy Arch Trail: 3.1 miles (Moderate)

![Out of the 198 countries in the world, the Maldives has possibly the most beautiful beaches! 🌴😍
🤔You can't go wrong in places like French Polynesia, Philippines, Thailand, Bahamas, Australia, and Seychelles. But inch for inch, it's hard to beat the Maldives' crystal clear water + picture perfect white sand.
💵😭However, Maldives has a reputation for being too expensive to visit, with luxury resorts that can cost $1,000+ per night. But if you are a budget traveler like us, you can stay on local islands for a fraction of the cost! We stayed in the Maldives for 3 weeks - it was 3 of the best weeks of our 8 year world trip!
Where to stay:
🤿🐠Dhangethi island - World-class scuba diving ($ - affordable local housing)
🏝️🏖️Fulhadhoo island - One of the best beaches on a local island ($$ - mid range cost)
🦈🌊Fulidhoo island - Adventure lovers paradise! Local island easy to swim with dolphins, nurse sharks, sting rays! ($ - affordable local housing)
🐠🌊Mudhdhoo Island - Bioluminescence beach! (We did not get to visit here so I can't speak on the cost)
💵🤑💵 If you're looking for ultra luxury overwater bungalows, we've heard these places are amazing, but it wasn't in our budget at the time to stay here:

📍Name: Atlantis Waterpark
Location: Paradise Island - Nassau, Bahamas
🦈This was always a dream water park for my husband. And to be honest I loved it too! It feels a little intimidating sliding past dozens of sharks at first. But the rides are so much fun the fear quickly goes away. Out of the 197 countries we've visited, Hudson said this is his favorite water slide.
🚗How To Get There : Atlantis Waterpark is located on Paradise Island, a short drive or taxi ride from Nassau, Bahamas. The park is free if you stay at the resort. Or day passes can be purchased online or at the resort entrance. But for day passes it can get pretty crowded if there are several cruises are in town! The park includes slides, pools, lazy rivers, and marine habitats.
💦 This park is stunning! It’s not just the slides but the whole setting with crystal-clear water, tropical beaches, and a huge lagoon. The aquarium is also huge! Full of sharks, rays, fish, and more! Is it touristy? Definitely. If you follow us you know we love traveling on a budget and real life cultural experiences. But sometimes it's fun to experience the touristy things to! To celebrate our 197th country we decided to visit Atlantis in the Bahamas and loved it!

![Proud husband here 🥰❤️😍 Today is our 18 year dating anniversary - hard to believe!
I can't say how incredible Emmy really is. Over the past 8 years of full-time travel, I've gotten to spend almost every minute with her. So we've seen each others ups and downs and I am still just as blown away by how incredible she is as when we started dating 18 years ago.
❤️ First, there isn't anything Emmy can't do. Which is a dangerous combination because I tend to be a dreamer (with no real plan to actually do what I am talking about.) But the next thing I know Emmy has a whole document with detailed plans on how we can actually make our dream a reality! (This is kind of how we decided to travel to every country! 🤣)
🧡 She's also a genius. Idk anyone else who graduated from their undergrad in 2.5 years and their MBA degree in just 1 year. If theirs a goal, she'll figure out how to do it.
💚 Emmy is the most unassuming adventurous girl I know. When I started dating her, she was scared of going outside in the dark. And now she's been skydiving, bungee jumping, paragliding, advanced scuba, bull sharks, self safaris, over landed through West Africa, and traveled to 197 countries (and plenty of that was in the dark btw 🤣) I never stop being amazed by her!
💙 But the thing that I love most about her is her love for God and others. I may be biased, but she's the most selfless person I know. She's always looking for ways to encourage others and live out the love of Jesus. Our faith is the most important part of our life. And our favorite thing about traveling is to learn about other people's beliefs and culture. We never want to be preachy, but take the opportunity to learn and love. And Emmy does this every day of our travels.
I'm so in love with this girl. She's the best wife - and now, also the best mom to our baby girl. ❤️ I don't know what I did to deserve her but I know I'm the luckiest guy in the world. Love you so much Emmy!]()
