I’ve been in Tokyo for almost three years, and I finally found a spot I can rely on. Coming from the States, I missed California style Mexican food, especially seafood tacos with pico de gallo and real flavor. Finding good tacos in Japan is tough. They end up bland, expensive, or both. The same goes for other foods like New York style pizza. Some places even made me cry.
That’s why I’m glad I found Rocco’s. It’s a family-owned spot with two restaurants: Rocco’s New York Style Pizza and Rocco’s California Style Tacos. The owner, from New York, opened the pizza shop 15 years ago to share his culture. Locals and visitors love it. In 2022, his son, King, added California style tacos to the mix.
Both hit the spot. The tacos were balanced and had a good kick. The pizza had a nice crust, savory tomato sauce, and cheese that tied everything together.

What’s better than Sushi Omakase?
When your bestie treats you to Sushi Omakase!
Out of the blue, my sugar bestie asked me if I wanted to grab some Sushi in Tokyo. Who in their right mind will say no to sushi? Bestie brought me to Ebisu Sushi Fujimasa, a Sushi Omakase restaurant where you will treat your partner for a special day or something, because man, this place was bougie! 12 seat counter viewing a traditional Japanese refrigerator made from wood. It feels like you have gone back to the Edo period. You can really taste the omotenashi in the Sushi Omakase (a bar from my lad). The 2 hour experience felt peaceful with the 23 dishes they prepared.

Once again, my friend was craving something specific. Today, he was craving Yakiniku. Yakiniku in Ginza is quite steep, so it’s hard to find a reasonably priced Yakiniku spot. My original plan was to visit Tendan Ginza for lunch because their lunch is under 2000 円; however, I missed the lunch reservation time (10:00 am). With the help of googlejapan and tabelog_japanbylocals , I found Tokyo Yakiniku Heijoen. Their lunch is under 3000円. Pretty solid.

So, I’m wondering, why am I even here? Last week, I got invited to Rakuten Fashion Week in Tokyo, and honestly, I was just as confused as you probably are about why I was on the guest list. Apparently, some folks see me as a fashion content creator, which is wild and maybe a sign that I should think about diving into that scene more? Who knows? 😅 The venue was at the Shibuya Hikarie building, so I stopped by d47 SHOKUDO for a quick bite. I went for the Miso Katsu lunch set, and it was super tasty and felt light. A little on the pricey side at around 2,500円 though.
All in all, the food and the fashion show were awesome! Big thanks for the invite! vfw.team

My friend introduced me to this matcha spot in Ginza. According to my friend, it's getting really popular on social media, and some say it's better than The Matcha Tokyo. The place is called The Cloud Club, and it is a cute matcha spot. Their matcha latte was pretty good. I'm not an expert, but I enjoyed their Matcha Latte over the Matcha Tokyo matcha latte. If you have tried it before, let me know in the comments. Overall, I’m giving this spot an 8/10!

In Japan, many locals like to finish their night out with a nice bowl of ramen. I don't know, but it works. When I lived in SoCal, my friend and I hit up taco trucks, and nothing beats that. Today, I visited Hayashida Shinbashi Store to try their Shoyu ramen. Hayashida is a chain store, so you can find one near your station. Their Shoyu ramen was a great way to finish my night.

If you are in Shinjuku and looking for a place to kick off the night, I recommend Sushi Ebisu.
This sushi spot in Tokyo is easygoing. You can order a drink (Japanese beer or Japanese Sake), eat some sushi, and talk without worrying about the bill. A meal here in Shinjuku runs around 3000 to 5000 yen, which is solid for a sushi restaurant in Tokyo.
I like it because it works as a pre-game spot. You eat a little, drink a little, and then step right into Shinjuku nightlife.
Next time you are in Tokyo, we will go to this sushi restaurant together. Who else are we inviting?

Tokyo, Japan, is still hot, so I decided to get some Tacos and Craft Beer in Shibuya today. Finding good tacos is quite difficult, but the tacos here are pretty solid. The only downside was that they were really small for the price. Two tacos and a small beer were under 3000円. The price hurt my wallet, but the taste was delicious. So far, this place might be my favorite taco spot in Tokyo. If you tried it, let me know what you thought.

What do locals in Japan do to cool off from the summer heat?
To cool down, they might visit Okinawa, Hokkaido, or Karuizawa. But not everyone can visit these places, so many locals visit a Beer Gardens. Beer Gardens are usually held on the roof of a shopping mall. The one that I visited is in Shinjuku on the roof of Lumine 1, and hello_beergarden runs it.
