The only positive side of the failing fuel pump on my Pan America is the fact that I got to take the ol’ Red Headed Stepchild out of the stable today! I swear, every time I think I want to sell my Dyna… I take her for a ride and fall in love with her all over again. Day two we took it a little chill. Started out riding Foothills Parkway over into Pigeon Forge (Mistake number 1…) Then we tried our luck riding over to Cades Cove in Smoky Mountain National Park. (Mistake number 2…) I knew the tourist trap of Pigeon Forge would be a gamble, but I didn’t anticipate it would be AS BAD as it actually was 😅 And as for Cades Cove, the road was ✨Divine✨ but the traffic was horrific. Even pretending that I was riding through Rivendell wasn’t enough for us to want to continue with the insufferable “blue-hair’s” and “rubber-necker’s” acting like it was their first day behind the wheel of a car. So we turned around and rode Foothills Parkway again. Hands down most enjoyable ride of the trip. Took emmapoole95 (from 🇬🇧) and jordan.ray.vlogs down to the Tail of the Dragon (both of their 1st time!) The general consensus, ride it if you’re in the area… ride it! But maybe not make a whole trip just for the dragon alone. After the 129 we hit up the Cherohala Skyway (a personal favorite). The sweepers and scenic overlooks make the Skyway a MUCH more relaxed and enjoyable ride. I just spent 4 days in Southeastern Ohio attending my first ever wailinwayneweekend and let me tell you… I already do a ton of bragging about my home state of Ohio, but to actually see the riding community together in my home and acting like one big happy family made my heart so full! “Community” is the key word. Culinary college students feeding all the riders and volunteers breakfast and dinner every day, local boy-scouts washing off all the muddy bikes for tips instead of half naked women, kid friendly with fun challenges for the future generation motorcycle riders, movies, presentations, training, vendors, educational seminars, train rides, and BEER! 🍻 I’ll admit, I barely left the event grounds. Being present and enjoying all the new faces was 100% my goal for the weekend. I cannot WAIT to go back! It was only Day 2 of Crossing the country on my Harley-Davidson when I almost threw in the towel… I watched the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, fought through the tourist crowds in Bar Harbor, hunted down a $37 lobster roll in Belfast (worth it… kinda 🤣), then started having a mechanical scare that sent me to a Harley dealer in Maine. The best part though? Walking barefoot across a rocky beach in Massachusetts and finally touching the Atlantic Ocean. That moment made all the chaos worth it. Picture this: waking up snug & cozy listening to the pitter patter of rain on the roof of your kampgroundsofamerica rustic cabin. When you’re in the middle of a big motorcycle trip, everything just feely blurry. I felt like I was in survival mode the whole time. Fighting the elements, road construction, wild animals, and scariest of all… people with their noses in their phones behind the wheel. But I’m so proud to say I took the time to stop, pull over and take pictures. Looking back through my camera roll, i’m amazed at how many impactful moments and seemingly small details live in my mind. Take this photo for example… I completely forgot this even happened. I was close to the summit of Hurricane Ridge Road in the Olympic National Forest when I snapped this pic. (And many others) I use my phone as a bluetooth remote for my Canon. With a quick 2 second self timer, I’m able to set up my shot, press the shutter button, and pose for a photo. Right after I pressed the shutter button on my phone, a car full of 20 something year olds drove past me going back down the mountain. Right as the camera was about to snap the photo, a girl in the passenger seat screamed out the window, “GIRL YOU ARE A BADASS!” And this photo is the result of my reaction immediately as the interaction happened. 😅 So yeah. Take the photo. An overwhelming “Yes” to my question about, “Should I keep the white helmet look?” Thanks for helping me out! I really dig the white! I’ve also been getting a TON of questions about the Sedici Sistima 3 modular. (Not to mention my Jacket!) I plan on doing a FULL gear review video after I get home from my cross country trip… but the short answer… this is a GREAT budget helmet if you live in an arid climate. The modularity of it is the easiest I have ever experienced to use, and the helmet feels pretty lightweight for a modular as well.
