Met up with some friends for a catch up and wanted to try an authentic Middle Eastern spot 🇾🇪🍽️. I asked you guys for recommendations and went with hijazi_corner on Edgware Road.

This place came up a lot and with such a strong Google rating I had high hopes… but honestly, it was disappointing and not somewhere I’d go back to.

Main order:
🐑 Lamb Mandi £17.99
🍗 Buckari Chicken £15.99
🐑 Buckari Lamb £18.99
🥘 Fahsah Lamb £13.50
🥟 Meat Mutabak £8.50

My Lamb Mandi was dry, not juicy, not tender, and definitely not falling off the bone (the bare minimum for good lamb). The chicken was even worse… dry and tasteless. The only highlight was the rice with the Buckari dishes, which was nice.

The meat mutabak was actually really good 👍, but not enough to save the meal overall.

The food reminded me a bit of Somali cuisine, but sadly this place didn’t live up to the hype.

Venue wise: they’ve got a downstairs traditional sit-down area with TV and a prayer space 🙏. No kids allowed.

One thing that really bugged me though... every table I saw had Coke bottles on it. I know not all Arabs are the same (there are 22 different Arab states), but the oil-rich ones in particular don’t seem to support the cause. It’s frustrating to see when boycotts matter.

It’s been a while since I last posted. I took a break from reviews and eating out, but I’m back with a great breakfast and brunch spot in Hackney.

I was really impressed here — the food tasted great, the service was lovely, and the presentation was on point. Most importantly, it’s a place I’d happily visit again. Here’s what I tried:

Berry Nutty Delight – £11
French toast topped with warm Nutella, which melted into the vanilla and hazelnut premium Italian gelato to create an absolutely delicious flavour bomb. I really enjoyed this.

Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles – £12
They make their croissant waffles fresh from scratch, which was a nice touch. Served with spicy fried chicken goujons and finished with apple syrup, the flavours came together really well. Another winner.

The Bengal Brunch – £13.95
A proper desi-style breakfast featuring chicken curry, a desi omelette, aloo bhaji, and more. It was a bit too spicy for me, but it came packed with variety, almost like a thali.

Tea & Co Special – £15
This was recommended to me, and it’s packed with both sweet and savoury brunch items all on one plate. The fresh, fluffy American pancakes stood out — soft, light, and very well made.

Brunch on the Med – £13.95
My wife ordered this and said the Turkish sausages (sujuk) were the best she’s ever had. The plate also came with two fried eggs, grilled halloumi, mixed olives, pomegranate salad with feta, grilled tomatoes, fresh fruit, simit bread, plus honey and olive oil dips. A great spread.

Bangladeshi Citrus Mojito – £7
A refreshing mocktail made with Bangladeshi limes. It instantly brought back childhood memories of drinking this at my aunt’s house. So good.

London’s most iconic and famous “Indian” curry house has just opened a new express branch in Barkingside, Ilford. tayyabsexpress

Tayyabs, the original Whitechapel spot has been a go-to for years, attracting diverse diners from post-work crowds to Muslim families and everyone in between.

This new venture is a stripped-back, takeaway-focused version with just five tables and a sleek, modern interior. Orders are ready within 10 minutes, making it perfect for a quick bite.

I popped in while passing through and sampled a few items:

Lamb chops £10.95
Chicken tikka £5.95
Sheesh kebab £4

Tayyabs is known for their lamb chops. They’re decent and well-seasoned but not quite the game-changer some food critics make them out to be.

The sheesh kebabs were excellent. Juicy, tender and packed with flavour.

The restaurant is currently in soft launch, with plans to offer a discounted menu when they officially open. It’s still very much a family-run operation. The founder’s sons now manage the business and even the grandson helps out at this new spot.

I love a good steak and I've cooked plenty at home. Here's my simple guide on how to cook the perfect steak 🥩🔥

Thanks to saffron_alley for sending these top-quality cuts! Use code HFG10 for 10% off.
Ribeye, sirloin or fillet — that's what you want. Avoid cheap topside cuts from your halal butcher.

🥩 How to Cook a Perfect Steak (10 Steps)

1️⃣ Room Temp: Take your steak out 1 hour before cooking. Let it warm up — crucial for even cooking.
2️⃣ Dry It: Pat the steak dry 10 mins before cooking. Moisture = no crust.
3️⃣ Season Right: Use coarse salt 🧂 from a height. Skip pepper — it burns.
4️⃣ Oil It: After 10 mins, pat again if needed. Then rub in a little oil.
5️⃣ Pan Prep: Use a frying, stainless, or cast iron pan. Heat it up on high with a bit of oil.
6️⃣ Sear: When the oil's hot, place the steak in. Don't touch it. Press down lightly.
7️⃣ Flip & Sear: Cook 4 mins, then flip. Sear the other side for 1 more minute.
8️⃣ Lower Heat & Butter: Reduce heat. Add butter 🧈 and garlic 🧄 to the pan.
9️⃣ Baste: Tilt the pan and spoon butter over the steak for flavour and moisture.
🔟 Check & Rest: Cook till 53°C for medium rare. Rest for 4–5 mins before slicing.

That’s it — a perfect steak, every time.

Quick visit to one of my regular spots when I’m craving modern Pakistani food. They’ve got a new menu with a few additions I tried for the first time. zamanarestaurant

Dynamite Prawns £10.99
Aloo Tikki Chaat £6.49
Chilli Paneer £8.49
Mix Grill £22.99
Kabuli Pulao £14.49
Chicken Tikka Karahi £10.99

The Dynamite Prawns were lovely, crispy prawns in a moreish sauce. The Mix Grill is one of my favourites here. The meats are always thick cuts, cooked perfectly, and not overdone like in most Pakistani spots.

I also enjoyed the chaat, full of flavour and textures, and priced well. The only dish I wasn’t too keen on was the Kabuli Pulao. It didn’t taste authentic and didn’t come with a lamb shank like most places.

If you're after a Pakistani spot with good food and reasonable prices, I definitely recommend checking this place out.

One of my favourite spots for comfort food has just opened a new branch in Wood Green! So I thought I’d share a throwback to when I visited their Leyton store back in January for my son's 3rd birthday.chicos_london

We tried the new and unique Nashville mozzarella sticks. Just look at that cheese pull! Chico’s has an incredible Nashville range; their wings, tenders and burgers are all top tier. They’ve really perfected the recipe.

Of course, I had to get their legendary smash burger. Always consistent and delicious. I also grabbed their loaded fries. Another must-try is their smashing shrimp, which is so good!

Chico’s now has 4 locations. All are fully halal, HMC certified, alcohol free and BDS aligned.

This is my proudest collaboration. Alhamdulillah I donated a water tank to distribute aid to the people in the neighbourhood of Shuja'iya which is the southern quarter of Old City of Gaza.

I've donated to larger charities but you never seen the result of that donation, but a few months ago I got a message from
mahmoud_4_gaza3 asking for support. I was skeptical at first as I've received many messages from fake accounts but but my doubts were make easy once I saw his page and he send me pictures of his neighbourhood. He makes hand made signs as well so you know the videos are real and aid distributed.

If you want to donate you can message the brother directly. Please remember, he's surviving living in the worse conditions so message with respect and compassion. Donations are made via PayPal and sending water truck is 250 usd.

This video fills me with both joy and sadness. Seeing the destruction around these people is painful, but their brief, genuine smiles still manage to bring a smile to my face. It’s a reminder of their strength, and I just wish we could do more to support them. 2025-04-03 17:04:17 This is my proudest col.. 1,022 +56% 63 +158%
I went to my favourite Pakistani buffet in Ilford for Iftar. It’s £19.99 for adults, £9.99 for kids under 10, and free for children under 5.

I’ve been here quite a few times and the food always delivers. The starters are fresh. The masala fish is great, but the chicken tikka is my absolute favourite. It’s cooked in a tandoor oven, juicy, full of flavour, and never dry or overcooked.

A lot of people treat buffets like eating competitions, which I find odd. For me, it’s all about the variety. I get to pick exactly what I want and there’s no waiting around.

After the delicious kebabs, I was already full but still tried some of the mains. I made a plate with biryani, lamb and chicken curry, swimming in oil which usually means it’s going to taste great, along with some dhal and keema. I finished off with the simple but tasty kheer.

There is prayer space available for both men and women. The adhan is played at iftar time and they provide dates to break your fast.

The decor is basic and a little dated but the food is fresh and full of flavour. It’s a solid choice for Iftar. Family-friendly, quick, and I even got home in time for taraweeh. There is free parking in the Lidl car park opposite.

Drinks are not included in the buffet.

A good value and very quick iftar menu from family friendly restaurant manjaros.london

You can grab a starter, main and drink for £19.95 with complimentary dates and bottled water.

I went for the Jumbo Grilled wings and Garlic Flatbread with Cheese & Achari Keema for starters. I really liked the wings, doubled jointed and the flavour of the sauce (I told my waiter to pick the flavour, so I'm guessing it was sizzler flavour) and the garlic bread was fresh and tasty.

For mains we got the Rasya Pasta, a creamy and saucey dish with soft juicy chicken, first time I had this and I liked it. Also got the Signature Chicken Parmesan, crispy chicken covered in cheese sauce and we got the keema topping. Both dishes were very big portions and we were only able to eat half of plates so took the rest home.

Overall, I thought the food was good, very homey food, simple but honest and I enjoyed it.

Despite arriving just a few minutes before iftar were out within 30mins. So if you are looking for a quick iftar this is it. The service is very efficient, staffed looked very organised and food arrived very quickly.

There's also a prayer room with wudu facilities but I ended up praying with some brothers in a unused part of the restaurant as it was busy.

There are only a handful of fully halal (no alcohol) restaurants in Central London, and The Great Chase is one of them. Offering a British-inspired menu, it’s a unique spot that brings halal diners a true fine dining experience in an elegant setting.

I tried their Ramadan five-course menu, priced at £68, though when I visited, there was a 25% discount. We broke our fast with dates and a mini fruit platter, while the adhan played softly throughout the restaurant. Alongside this, we were served fresh bread and their Date & Coconut Butter, which was hands down the best butter I’ve ever had—rich, slightly sweet, and incredibly moreish.

After breaking our fast, we paused for Maghrib prayer, led by the restaurant owner, which added to the warm and intimate atmosphere.

Back at the table, we started with a Mushroom Soup, deep in flavor but not as smooth and creamy as I’d prefer. Next was the Lamb Croquette, with tender pulled lamb shank inside. The combination of sweet and spiced tomato jam and crispy onions worked perfectly, delivering a balance of texture and flavor.

I recently had the pleasure of previewing the new Iftar menu at melimelo.uk and it was a fantastic dining experience. Priced at £45 for a six-course meal, you get variety, quality and a high end experience in a total halal environment.

The meal started with a Date and a Pear Compote Doughnut. That little doughnut ball was incredible—light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. It set the tone for what was to come.

Next up was the amuse-bouche (it means a single bite of food, the chef is French), featuring a Prawn & Chicken Dumpling with a rich Sambal Bisque and a unusual shot of a Carrot, Prawn, and Ginger Velouté. The combination of flavors was beautifully balanced, with a nice hint of spice.

For the starter, we had a Mini Wagyu Burger. The aroma was mouthwatering, and the taste did not disappoint; this little bite packed serious flavor and was so good!

For the main course, I opted for the Beef Sirloin, served with Parsnip Cream, Jerusalem Artichoke, Sprouts, Glazed Carrot & Parsnip, Broccoli, and Truffle Gravy. While the vegetables were slightly undercooked for my preference and the potatoes could have been fresher, the beef itself was cooked beautifully, and that Truffle Gravy was divine.

Before dessert, we had a Crispy Nashville Mozzarella Ball with Buffalo Sauce and White Alabama BBQ Cream. It was a fun, unexpected dish that added a bold contrast before the final course.

To finish, we indulged in a Chocolate-Mango-Lemon Meringue Tart with Chocolate Crémeux, Chiboust Mousse, and Madagascan Vanilla Ice Cream. It was light yet packed with flavor, a fantastic way to round off the meal.

Overall, the meal was a great experience, with a few minor points for improvement. The flavors, presentation, and creativity were all on point, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out this Ramadan.

What's great for iftar is they have a large prayer space on-site in the basement so there's no stress about missing prayers.

A new fine dining restaurant with a Greek-inspired menu has just opened, hidden away behind Westfield Stratford—and it offers a fully halal food menu**. The décor is stunning—classy, modern, and elegant. I was invited to try the £60 set menu. herarestaurantlondon

We began with **feta saganaki**—feta cheese wrapped in angel hair and drizzled with lemon honey. It felt like a dessert but was a light and tasty start to the meal.

The bread basket paired well with **melitzanosalata**, a dip similar to baba ganoush—finely chopped smoked aubergine with thyme and honey. I also tried **tarama**, a creamy dip made with smoked cod roe and dill oil.

For starters, I had the **seabass carpaccio**—thin slices of raw seabass with yuzu lemon dressing, dill oil, and radish. But the highlight of the night was the **beef meatballs**, served with tzatziki. They were beautifully cooked and tasted incredible.

For mains, I opted for the **grilled lamb chops**. I requested medium, but they leaned more toward medium rare. I also felt they could have been served with a side or something extra.

I also tried the **beef-filled ravioli**, cooked in a creamy truffle and mushroom sauce. The flavors were rich, with a strong truffle taste—nice but quite heavy.

**Dessert saved the best for last.** I've been searching for a Turkish dessert called milk kadayif, and I found something very similar. **Ekmek kataifi** is a Greek dessert made with shredded phyllo pastry, pistachio, custard, and whipped cream. I really enjoyed it—perfectly balanced sweetness with great textures.

I also had **halva**, which I initially thought was a chocolate cake. It turned out to be more like **halwa**, popular in South Asian countries, made from semolina. It was a nice, comforting dessert.

*When you think of Brick Lane, Lebanese food probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But Babel has been around for a while. With a new chef and menu, they’ve stepped up their game since my last visit a few years ago.

What We Ordered:
Platter for Four – £149.00
Farrouj Meshwi – £20.95
New Seafood Platter – £59*
Lamb Chops – £21.95
I wanted to try a few starters, but the owner suggested the platter so I could sample a bit of everything.

We started with classic Lebanese mezze—Hummus, Moutabal, Tabbouleh, Warak Inab, Falafel, Soujok, Batata Harra, and Jawaneh.

The Soujok stole the show. Bursting with flavor and served chopped up, which was a great touch. The Jawaneh (chicken wings) had a beautiful blend of spices with a hint of citrus. Perfectly cooked. The Batata Harra had great seasoning, but I wanted more texture. A bit too soft for me.

Mains
The platter came loaded with Lahem Meshwi, Shish Taouk, Kafta Meshwi, and juicy char-grilled chicken wings on a bed of rice.

The Farrouj Meshwi (whole grilled chicken) was served boneless with the skin on. Juicy, tender, and packed with smoky, spiced flavours from the charcoal grill.

The lamb chops were spot on. Cooked perfectly with just a few spices, letting the natural flavour shine.

I also got to try a new seafood platter they’re planning to add to the menu. A feast of seabass, salmon, and giant prawns. The seabass was delicate and beautifully cooked. The prawns? Juicy and full of flavor. The salmon, though, was a little overcooked and dry. Easy fix.

Final Thoughts
I couldn’t fault the food. Most dishes were cooked to perfection and full of flavour. A great spot for groups or couples. Worth a visit.

A spot in North London for date night, I've been trying to visit here for ages and finally made it a while back. The atmosphere is great for a night out, the lovely decor and aesthetics will satisfy anyone looking for that insta worth vibe.

What I tried...

King prawns in bang bang sauce £12

Octopus £13.5
Chicken Bao Buns £9.5
Ribeye 8oz £32
Lamb chops £26
Salmon fillet £21
Bramley's apple mousse v £8.5
Chocolate brownie v £7.5

The menu touches different cuisines from traditional grill, modern European classics and Asain influences.

The dishes were beautifully presented and the restaurant’s decor created an enchanting atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening. The food was well-crafted, offering a pleasant dining experience, although nothing blew me away I still enjoyed the food.

What truly stole the show were the desserts—visually striking and just as delightful in taste, loved the chocolate brownie and the apple mousse was visually striking as well as tasty.

I don't normally mention service when I'm invited (because they know I'm a influencer) but I thought the staff were so friendly and helpful, I felt like they have this standard for everyone, they were genuine and I've seen similar comments on the restaurant Google reviews, they were great with my toddler who was having a mini tantrum, the Oreos they bribed him with worked a treat, shout out Yaren to being so helpful.

The standout things I ate were the wings and tenders from the smash loaded box - crispy golden batter and soft juicy chicken, and the naga doner that came with the box was really tasty too. So good that I also got an extra portion as loaded naga doner, which I really enjoyed.

I tried 2 different smash burgers which were both good and value for money. The Nashville Burger didn't really have the kick or hint of heat and spice that I expect with a Nashville. I also tried their grilled chicken which was cooked perfectly and juicy; the rice that came with it was excellent too.

For a fast food spot, the presentation was impressive, and all the food is really reasonably priced. It's a family-friendly environment with seating, baby changing facilities, and high chairs.

Last year, my visit to Toba London, an Indonesian restaurant in Central London, was hands down my best dining experience in 2023, and I can't believe I waited so long to go back.

I visited toba.london in August with my wife and son to celebrate our anniversary. I wanted my wife to try the food I had enjoyed on my last visit, so I ordered mostly the same dishes with a few new additions.

Dishes ordered:

- Sate Ayam £12.50 (chicken satay)

- Otak-Otak £14 (fish cakes)

- Mie Tek Tek Jawa £14 (noodles)

- Gulai Kambing £28 (lamb shank)

- Bebek Goreng Madura Bumbu Hitam £24 (duck)

- Beef Rendang £20

I won't hide the fact that eating here will dent the bank balance, especially with my favorite dish from 2023 now priced at an eye-watering £28. On this occasion, the dish didn't quite reach the heights of my previous 10/10 experience, but I still rate it an 8/10. The flavors weren't as layered and didn't have the same depth as my first visit.

The chicken satay remains the best around, and I could eat that satay sauce all day. I wasn't too keen on the new duck dish, but the beef rendang was exceptional—soft, tender, and rich with depth of flavor.

If you're a fan of Indonesian cuisine, this place is a must-visit.

They have also just opened a new Indonesian coffee shop across the street called bija.london

We lost a man that was everyone's uncle. A father and grandfather that became known for the soul of my soul.

Over the last 14 months of darkness in Gaza, Khalid Nabhan was the light who lit up people's hearts.

Despite losing two of his grandchildren in one airstrike he still had a smile on his face. He then focused on helping others on Gaza. He is the epitomy of the resilience of the Palestinian people.
Today he was murdered by an Is** air strike, in a refugee camp.

Just because you might not see it on your social feeds as much now, people are still dying. Do not stop talking about Palestine.

I pray that uncle Khalid is in Junnah with Reem, the soul of his soul. He's gone but will never be forgotten.

Here's the corrected version with spelling, grammar, and clarity improvements:

I've been meaning to get a review up for this place for ages. I've been a few times before but decided to check out the newest additions to swirldrop_treats

It's not just a dessert spot, but a great place for breakfast and brunch. I really enjoyed the food here.

Dishes ordered:
- Buldak wings (£7.95)
- Buldak loaded fries (£8.50)
- A big breakfast (£11.95)
- Sourdough stack with avocado and salmon (£9.95)
- Signature pulled beef (replaced with chicken) (£12.95)
- Keema Paratha (£7.95)
- Knafa brownie (£7.95)
- San Sebastian (£8.95)
- Chocolate Brownie
- Pecan tart

If you're a fan of the famous Buldak Korean noodle brand, you need to try their Buldak fries and wings. I absolutely loved the loaded fries, and it's a must-try.

The Keema Paratha was a surprise hit; I really enjoyed it. The big breakfast featured sausage, egg, chicken rasher, hash brown, mushrooms, tomatoes, and beans with sourdough. It's great knowing there's another spot to grab breakfast in Ilford.

I initially wanted to try the signature pulled beef, but unfortunately, it was unavailable. So, I opted for the pulled chicken, which was nice paired with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.

I don't like eating anything sweet in the morning, so I didn't try the desserts (sorry, not great for a food blogger), but they went down well with my dining guests.

There are loads of other options available on the menu, so there's something for everyone. The restaurant's decor has a nice floral aesthetic with plenty of Instagrammable moments. There's also a private dining room available for small groups.

All food is halal. No alcohol is served.

Up until a few weeks ago, I had never heard of Dave's Hot Chicken, a franchise with well over 200 locations in the USA with a few over the Middle East. They're known for hot Nashville-style chicken and have been hyped over social media recently as they are opening their first restaurant in London. daveshotchickenuk

They are officially opening tomorrow (Saturday, 7th December) but I got an invite to try it out early at the launch party. I don't normally go to these things, but I wanted to see what this hype was about.

The menu consists of sliders (not burgers, as they're small) and tenders. Looking at the prices and when you factor in the location, a slider and chips is £8.50, which is decent.

Mild Slider
Medium Slider
Hot Tender

My first experience of Dave's Hot Chicken was the Mild slider, which is a tender inside a bun with some cheese and slaw. My first bite was an underwhelming experience; the taste and heat were subdued, and the chicken wasn't as soft as I've had from other places that use buttermilk and the chicken wasn't as thick or as large as I've seen in other videos.

The hot tender packed a bigger punch and had more flavour, so I'd recommend starting at that heat level. Was it the best chicken I've ever had? Far from it. It was nice; the chicken could have had a crispier texture and been juicier, but after seeing this place being hyped up so much, I was left underwhelmed.

The medium slider was an improvement in taste and better that the mild one, but after a few bites I was done. A place that's definitely been overhyped, but this is the world of social media now. The more excited people are, the more views and likes.

With the location and price, I DO recommend this place - The food is solid and enjoyable for a quick bite. I'd give it a fair 7.5/10; I guess I was expecting more after seeing the hype.

The chicken is British-sourced and HFA halal-certified, which is good considering they could have gone down the cost-saving route of using imported poultry from the EU.

Expect long queues this weekend.

No alcohol. Fully halal.
Not BDS aligned, but they have milkshakes on the menu.

This new Pakistani Cafe has a feature that no other restaurant has: an in house bird 🐦 Aviary with a Cockatoo that chills while you eat. My son loved watching the bids and it's great fun for kids, they have bird shows and activities on selected weekends as well. I've been here before for brunch, but was invited back to kahanicafe_ilford try their dinner menu.

Here's the order.

Gol Gappe £5.99
Samosa Chaat £5.99 🌟
Keema Tikki £7.99
Lahori Fried Fish £7.99
Mix Grill £31.99 with Malai chicken 🌟 added as an extra.
Lamb Karahi £13.99
1/4 grilled chicken with chips £8.50
Chicken Biryani £11.99
Palak Ghosht £11.99
Garlic Naan £2.99
Butter Naan £2.50

The starters were good, in particular the Samosa Chaat, great value and elegant presentation and layered with great flavours.

The Mix Grill had that smokey flavour profile from the charcoal grill and the meats were cooked perfect, so they where juicy and soft, the kebabs, chops and wings had good flavours and spice levels, but the winner for me was the Malai chicken, soft, juicy and delicious.

The curries where very different to ones that I'm used to more on the drier side with not much gravy/sauce, but packed a lot of flavour.

I tried a new drink the barman called an appletni, which had this hint of chill which was a nice combination and I recommend it.

There's alot of options to pick from and something for everyone. They also have a Seperate outdoor heated shisha area with live champions league and premier league football available, you can also eat food there as well.

The bird aviary is in a seperate outdoor area that's not part of the dining area or kitchen so you don't need to worry about food hygiene or risk.

A slight area for improvement is the time it takes for food to come out the kitchen, but that's something that can be fixed and it didn't impact on the quality of the food.

They are constantly evolving and developing the menu so it can change.

All food halal, no alcohol.
