Last week, I took a few unplanned pauses in my day. Most of you won’t know this but I regularly tell my clients that small breaks are not wasted time, They’re part of the work!

Coming back to those pauses I realized:
 • Not every break needs a perfect setting
 • A few minutes of noticing your surroundings or taking a deep breath can reset your mind
 • Productivity isn’t doing more, nonstop it’s about sustaining energy, focus, and clarity

PS - Even the smallest pause can feel strange at first. Most of us feel guilty when we stop, and that’s normal we don’t need extremes!

We all make big career choices at some point.

Some stay in safe jobs. Some try side hustles. A few take the leap.

And the rarest ones? They build something of their own.

Back in 2019, I was working full-time as a clinical dietitian and on the side I started building my practice. I’d see my own nutrition and personal training clients early mornings and late evenings, outside of my hospital hours, just slowly laying the foundation.

By 2022, I was working at Kaiser as an outpatient dietitian. And when I finally saved up enough to feel ready, I put in my two weeks.

It wasn’t easy. It came with self-doubts, limiting beliefs, and more tears than I can count. But I’ve never once looked back or regretted it. Because with that decision came freedom- the freedom to choose what I do, how I do it and who I serve.

Entrepreneurship isn’t simple. It’s lonely at times. But it’s also deeply fulfilling. Today, I get to lead a team of 7 incredible dietitians who share my mission: helping people heal their relationship with food, body image, gut health and hormones for good.

And every single day, I feel grateful and proud for how far this journey has brought me.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about leaving a job. It’s about choosing yourself, your vision and your values.

💥 Still popping TUMS or stuck on PPIs

Here are 6 root causes of GERD no one’s told you about 👇

1. Low stomach acid (not too much!)
Most reflux isn’t caused by excess acid
Low acid = food sits in the stomach → ferments → pressure builds → acid escapes upward
You don’t need to shut off your acid
You need to fix why it’s not working right

2. H. pylori infection
This sneaky bacteria suppresses stomach acid and inflames your stomach lining
It also weakens the muscle that keeps acid in your stomach (the LES)
It shows up all the time on GI MAPs when reflux is chronic

3. Poor motility or slow digestion
If food just sits there and doesn’t move, it builds pressure
This can be due to stress, hypothyroidism, SIBO, or even mold exposure
Constipated? Bloated? You might not have a stomach acid problem - just a movement problem

4. Weak lower esophageal sphincter (LES)
This muscle acts like a lid on your stomach
Low acid, pressure, or even poor posture can weaken it
Coffee, alcohol, and certain meds (like NSAIDs) don’t help either

5. Food triggers (but not just spicy foods)
Common ones I see:
🍫 Chocolate
🍷 Alcohol
🥛 Dairy
🍞 Gluten
🧄 Onions & garlic

And if you have histamine intolerance or leaky gut, even ‘healthy’ foods can trigger reflux

6. SIBO or dysbiosis
Overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine causes gas + pressure buildup → upward reflux
You can’t fix GERD if you’re not addressing what’s happening in the gut below the stomach

⚠️ If you’re stuck on acid blockers, still bloated, and reflux is running your life

4 weeks ago, I got back from a soul-filling trip across Europe. And I didn’t diet once

Not even to balance out the croissants
Not even to earn the wine

This trip felt different because:
• I didn’t feel the need to prepare my body for vacation, I prepared my mind to stay present in it

• I walked 20k steps a day in some cities not to burn calories, but because I was excited to explore

• I ate gelato 2 days in a row not because I deserved it, but because it was hot out and sounded yummy

My Go-To 5-Min Breakfast Cookie

Threw this together on a crazy morning once and now it’s my comfort breakfast for busy days

Crispy on the edges, soft in the middle, full of fiber, and actually keeps me full till lunch no sugar crash drama

If your mornings are all over the place too, this one’s worth saving

What you need:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 ripe mashed banana
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 scoop protein powder
Dash of Cinnamon
2 tsp oil of your choice (I used olive oil)
Dark choco chips, raisins or walnuts

How to make it:
Just mash everything together, mix well, shape into a cookie, and pop it in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes
Eat it warm with your coffee or toss it in your bag for later

Quick tip - if your banana is super ripe, you probably don’t need any added sweetener
