We had a great time at our office annual raysbaseball outing! From a lead off home run by the Orioles and an almost three hour rain delay it could have been awful, but that’s why baseball is so special. The hospitality was so great at their temporary home gmsfield the view was amazing! Staff and family had fun despite the score. Sad to post that we lost an OG fish in the office tank today. This #vc10 has been through all the disasters and somehow survived. We are sad to bury him in our garden today. Patient’s 16 yr old daughter had a fall and damaged her front tooth. After considering her age and condition of the tooth itself we determined the best approach would be a #dentalimplant This procedure requires the broken tooth to be removed and an implant placed into the area. Normally this would leave us with no tooth in the spot until the implant heals. In the past we would make a removable appliance to act in the place of the tooth but that can rub and irritate the healing of the implant. Working closely with periodontalhc Dr. Jessica Stilley-Mallah was able to place the implant same day as tooth removal. Then the patient came to our office and using #3dprinting designed a Maryland Bridge which only requires minor adjustments to the neighboring teeth to attach itself. Now this patient has a Tooth! She can heal in the area, eat her food, and not constantly remove and insert a “fake tooth” this is Modern day dentistry at its finest! Something we do here at our office but don’t talk a lot about is Sustainability! We are trying to eliminate plastic waste at every step possible. Maybe you noticed the patient toothbrushes are now made from Bamboo, the floss we give away is silk. Those are noticeable. Here’s a huge change we made in January and we love it. The Reva dispenser. Each room gets disinfected after a patient leaves. Those wipes were plastic. Now we have a machine the applies the disinfectant liquid to PAPER towels instead of plastic. This will save thousands of wasted plastic wipes every year! Some changes happening at the office, been nearly 5 years in our new location. WOW. It was time for a refresher.
