Managing rosacea starts with knowing what not to do.
Here are 3 common mistakes I see:
1️⃣ Misdiagnosis - Rosacea is often mistaken for acne or sensitivity, leading to the wrong treatment.
2️⃣ Ignoring lifestyle triggers - heat, stress, and other elements can all contribute to flares.
3️⃣ Using harsh actives - strong exfoliants or irritating ingredients can make inflammation worse.
Rosacea requires a gentle, tailored approach and the right diagnosis is the first step.

Does oily skin need moisturizer? In my opinion - absolutely.
Oily doesn’t mean hydrated. Skipping moisturizer can make your skin produce more oil to compensate.
Every skin type needs moisture.

Wondering if your makeup is causing breakouts? Start new products one at a time—and pay attention.
If you notice increased oiliness, congestion, or breakouts (especially in the T-zone), your makeup could be the culprit.
Your skin is always giving you feedback, so listen closely.

Can a silk pillowcase help with wrinkles and acne? There’s some truth to it.
Silk causes less friction on the skin, which may help minimize creasing overnight. It also absorbs less moisture and product than cotton, making it a gentler option for acne-prone or sensitive skin.
Is it a cure-all? No. But it’s a small change that might support healthier skin while you sleep.

Do you have very dry skin but still want to exfoliate? You can, but gently.
Skip the harsh physical scrubbing and opt for a mild chemical exfoliant like pumpkin enzyme or papaya extract. Once a week is enough to smooth without stripping.
The goal is to support your skin barrier—not stress it out.

Not sure if it’s acne or rosacea? You’re not alone.
Both can look similar, but there are key differences:
🔹 Acne presents clinically with different types of breakouts, including blackheads, whiteheads, and cystic breakouts.
🔹 Rosacea presents as redness, flushing, and small red and white bumps called pustules, especially on the cheeks and nose.
If you're unsure, check in with your derm for the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

Yes, using too many products can damage your skin barrier.
Layering actives, over-exfoliating, and constantly switching routines can leave your skin red, tight, or reactive.
Your barrier works hard to protect you, and when it’s compromised, irritation, breakouts, and sensitivity can follow.
Simplify your routine. Stick with what works. Healthy skin starts with a strong foundation.

Tweens and teens starting puberty? That’s the perfect time to build healthy skincare habits.
Keep it simple and safe:
✔️ Gentle cleanser to remove sweat, oil, and buildup
✔️ Lightweight moisturizer to support the skin barrier
✔️ SPF 30+ every morning—yes, even for younger skin
Less is more—consistency is key.

Transitioning your skincare from summer to winter? Here’s how to make the switch:
1️⃣ Swap out moisturizers for a gel-based or lightweight moisturizer
2️⃣ Don’t skip SPF—UV exposure happens year-round
3️⃣ Gently increase exfoliation to remove dull, flaky skin
4️⃣ Add a hydrating lip balm to protect against chapping
Cooler temps mean your skin needs a little more support—small changes make a big difference.

Flying soon? Here’s how to keep your skin clear and hydrated at 30,000 feet:
✨ Exfoliate a day or two before to prep your skin
✨ In-flight? A hydrating mask + plenty of water go a long way
✨ After landing, apply hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture
Airplane cabins are dry and dehydrating but with a little prep, your glow doesn’t have to stay grounded.

No time for a 10-step routine? You don’t need one.
If you’re always in a rush, keep it simple:
✔️ Cleanse
✔️ Apply an antioxidant
✔️ Moisturize if your skin needs it
✔️ Finish with SPF 30 or higher—always.
Consistency matters more than complexity. A streamlined routine can still deliver real results.

What causes those tiny bumps on the backs of your arms or thighs?
It might be keratosis pilaris (KP)—a common skin condition where dead skin cells build up because of decreased cellular turnover.
It’s harmless, but can feel rough or bumpy to the touch. Some things can make it better - here are my suggestions.

What’s the best way to treat acne scars? Prevent them in the first place.
Early, consistent treatment is key because the more inflammation a breakout causes, the higher the risk for lasting marks or texture changes.
Start with a routine that calms, not strips. And don’t wait - see your derm before breakouts become scars.

Does sunscreen cause breakouts? Not exactly.
It’s a myth that all sunscreens clog pores, but the wrong formula can.
Skipping SPF to avoid breakouts can actually make things worse, especially if you're dealing with hyperpigmentation. Protection is key. Here are some of my recommendations as to what to do and use.

Still breaking out as an adult? You’re not alone.
Adult acne is often driven by a mix of factors—hormonal shifts, stress, diet, and even the wrong skincare products.
The key is getting to the root cause and building a routine that supports your skin without overwhelming it.

Breaking out? Hold off on the exfoliants.
When your skin is inflamed, scrubbing or using acids can make things worse—by irritating your skin barrier and triggering even more breakouts or causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Let your skin calm down before reintroducing actives. Healing starts with less, not more.
Here are my recommendations on what I suggest.

Melasma is a common form of hyperpigmentation that shows up as patchy, brown discoloration—most often on the cheeks, forehead, or upper lip.
It’s triggered by a mix of factors, including:
1️⃣ Hormonal changes (like pregnancy or birth control)
2️⃣ Sun exposure—even short, unprotected moments
3️⃣ Heat—from workouts, saunas, or even hot weather
ㅤ
People with medium to deeper skin tones may be more prone to melasma due to how their skin responds to inflammation and pigment.

Wondering if your skincare is aging your skin? Here’s what to look for:
🔹 Persistent dryness or tightness — this often means your barrier is compromised. When your skin lacks moisture, fine lines and wrinkles become more pronounced.
🔹 Redness or irritation — a common sign of over-exfoliating or using too many products at once.
🔹 No visible results? Your product may have expired. Expired skincare can lose effectiveness or even trigger reactions.
Healthy skin = supported, hydrated, and balanced.

The goal with filler? Restore, not overfill.
I focus on preserving the triangle of youth - when our faces are broader, having fuller temples and narrowing going down the face.
When done right, filler lifts and sculpts without ever looking obvious.

In my practice, I always recommend applying from thinnest to thickest:
cleanse → serum → moisturizer → sunscreen.
If you do not feel dry then skip the moisturizer.
And yes, the order matters. A small change can make a big difference in results.

The #1 rule to prevent hyperpigmentation after a breakout?
Don’t pick. Don’t squeeze. Don’t touch.
Manipulating acne only increases inflammation—and in melanin-rich skin, that often leads to dark spots that linger.
Check out the other recommendations I share to help your skin heal clearly, without the marks.

Melanin-rich skin has a stronger inflammatory response, which means even minor breakouts or irritation can leave behind stubborn dark marks. That pigment often sits deeper, so it takes longer to fade.
It’s a myth that skin of color doesn’t need sunscreen. Daily SPF is essential to keep hyperpigmentation from worsening or sticking around longer.

Do over-the-counter retinols actually make a difference?
Yes, when used consistently and correctly. While they’re not as strong as prescription options, OTC retinols can still boost cell turnover, smooth texture, and soften fine lines over time.
To make sure your skin tolerates it, start with a pea-sized amount every other or every third night. With retinol, less is definitely more.

“Mom always said, “you are what you eat.” When it comes to your skin, she wasn’t wrong.
Nutrition plays a big role in how your skin ages. Diets high in sugar and processed foods can accelerate collagen breakdown, while antioxidants, healthy fats, and hydration support a stronger skin barrier and healthier glow.
Good skin starts from the inside out.

Is neck aging preventable? To some extent—yes.
The skin on your neck is thinner and often overlooked, making it more prone to fine lines, creasing, and sun damage. Daily SPF, consistent hydration, and extending your skincare down to your chest can make a big difference.
Prevention is key.
