- No safety car this year so I got busy taking pictures of fast cars with my iPhone 15 Pro Max instead 😤 Here is how: 1. Make use of the zoom lens - Unless you have a media pass, you are going to be far away from the track even if you have front row seats in the best grandstand. In my case, the 5x zoom comes in handy! 2. AE/AF lock - F1 cars go as fast as 275 km/hr, so you'll want to ready your settings before they come. Find a spot on the track where the car would likely go past and keep the yellow box (focus) there. The circuit is also brightly lit for the night race, so make sure to adjust the exposure accordingly (I turned mine down). Once you're happy with the setting, do a long press on the yellow box to lock the exposure and focus. This ensures the settings stay put when you're shooting later! 3. Track the car with your phone while at the same time shooting with burst mode - The secret to taking a photo of a fast moving object with iPhone is the burst mode. But if you want that cool blurred background effect, you'll also want to pan your iphone and track the cars with the phone as much as you can! This means moving your camera along with the cars, matching the same speed that it's going. Yes this takes practice. 4. Choose the sharpest frame - Go to your photos app and open any of the burst photo you've taken. Click on "Select..." and choose the frame with the sharpest photo! It might take a few tries, but you'll get there! That's why there are 62 laps in the Singapore Grand Prix 😁 That's all!
