![They say fashion always comes back around and that sooner or later everything returns.
But I think it’s a mistake to see fashion only as a repeat of the past. For me, fashion is first and foremost a vision. It is born in a specific moment in history, shaped by cultural and social influences, and then rediscovered in the present where it finds new meaning.
Maybe that is the real charm of looking back, an unconscious longing for a time when life felt good, full of energy, vitality and possibility. That is why I feel such a strong pull toward the 1980s, a decade I never stop studying and drawing inspiration from.
Between the ’80s and ’90s, giorgioarmani didn’t just dress people, he defined an era and gave elegance and identity to an entire generation. For years I have collected pieces from that golden age, and every time I wear one I am struck by how relevant they still feel today, speaking to the present with the same power as they did back then.
This linen jacket with a Mandarin collar is a perfect example. It appeared in several collections of the time and still carries a story of timeless modernity.]()

From the Greek scholé, the root of the word “school,” it meant time devoted to thinking, observing, and cultivating oneself. The Romans contrasted it with negotium, the busyness of affairs.
Leisure is not inertia but a choice to slow down, to savor the small things, and to give space to thought and pleasure.
In my idea of la dolce vita, leisure becomes an art. A glass of wine at sunset. A walk with no destination. Playing with a stray kitten. Slowness as freedom.

![There’s always been a video camera in my house. My father loved camcorders, and I still keep hundreds of tapes filled with Christmas, birthdays, and family holidays.
Watching them again reminded me that imperfection is what makes moments feel real. The shaky hands, the random zooms, the authenticity.
That is what inspired me to buy an old camcorder again, just for fun. I realized my approach is completely different from when I use a modern camera. I do not think about poses, expressions, lighting, or framing.
And this video is the proof. In its low resolution and imperfections, it brings out who I am beyond GG, not the professional side but the personal one. And most of all, it made me smile seeing myself again, just like in those old tapes labeled “Christmas 1995.”
Not by chance, here I am wearing an Armani iconic jacket from the early 90s, a cornerstone of the late great giorgioarmani of that era. His vision of timeless elegance has always inspired me, and this look felt like the perfect way to bring that memory to life.

![Today we say goodbye to one of those people who nourished my pride in being Italian.

He is the designer who has fascinated me the most.

It is also thanks to him that I approached photography.
In a time without Internet or social media, Armani published, for each collection, photography books shot by Aldo Fallai—almost all in black and white—visual stories of pure Italian spirit.
The clothes were there, of course, but they were only part of the narrative. What today we would call “storytelling.”
Today my country is left orphaned not only of a great designer, but of a man who made it an eternal dream.
