![Quest complete!! Found my new favorite tempura and sake spots in Osaka.
At Tempura Tenzan tempura_tenzan you can sit at the counter and watch an experienced chef make each dish to perfection! Eating each piece of tempura immediately after it’s fried was a whole new level of delicious. From seasonal vegetables to seafood and even fig at the end, I can’t choose a favorite.
Right upstairs you’ll find the cozy sake bar called AWA japan.sake.awa . If you don’t know where to begin, the tasting set with 3 types of sake is the perfect place to start.

I did a half-day trip there, but there is accommodation if you wish to stay overnight.
Access:
🚃take the JR to Ishinomaki Station (about 1 hour from Sendai)
🚶♀️then walk 15 mins (or take a bus) to the Ajishima Line Chuo Port

Honest opinion: a bit pricey but the portions were pretty big (for Japan). It was fun to go once for the whole experience!

![Danjiri Matsuri is THIS MONTH 🎊
📍Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri - Kishiwada, Osaka
Perhaps you can tell from the video why this festival is regarded as one of the most dangerous in Japan. Many places have Danjiri festivals (danjiri are the carts/floats they are pulling), but in Kishiwada they go FULL SPEED, which means people often fall off the floats when they fly around the corner, in some cases the danjiri even crash, or people in the crowd get too close and are hit by the runners. Needless to say, there’s a lot of risk for injury, for the participants but also for the crowd.
Despite the risk though, this festival has been held for over 300 years in September and October to bring in a good harvest for the year 🌾 And it’s a LOT of fun to watch.

Test run: 9/12
There is usually a smaller/calmer version in October, but I don’t see any October dates for this year.
