You never really know what’s round the corner…. So try to make the best of everyday 👊🏼🙌🏼 This year has been probably the most challenging of my life with some of my darkest days yet also with new life and brighter days to come, happy Father’s Day to me ! ❤️ Having a life changing operation to remove a cancer (fully confirmed post op) whilst knowing Sophia was pregnant wasn’t a position I imagined to be. I’ll be forever thankful for the Dubai healthcare system for identifying it early and swift treatment , alhamdulillah🙏🏼 But all we can do is make a choice to make each day better than the last. I’ve always been a driven person but since the op I’ve only grown even stronger in my mindset and commitment to work as hard as I can in all areas of my life. My health is nearly back to normal, I’m in a loving relationship with a baby girl on the way, and business has never been better, despite the challenges thrown at us the last few months. Day in the life of a fitness brand photographer… 📸💪🏼 Well, a couple of days!! For me shoot prep always starts the day before regardless of if it’s an early start or not! Having the camera ready with a full battery and a formatted card in (as well as some ballpark camera settings) enables me to focus on setting up quickly at the location and getting down to shooting. There’s nothing worse than scrabbling around in the morning realising something isn’t charged or you have left the card behind and for some reason all the spares are no where to be seen either! 🥴🤦🏻‍♂️ This may seem SO obvious, but I’ve seen many professionals do the whole “have I backed this data up?!” panic on the morning of the shoot then wasting location hire time checking their hard drives. It’s not only time lost but a huge distraction from the job you are doing that day. Same goes for any clothing prep if you are a one man/woman band, do all can the day before and then do minor touch ups on the day, if you still can’t transport on hangers. Finally take your laptop to the shoot and follow the brief that you have already downloaded to the desktop (don’t rely on downloading it off WiFi or hotspot, again this loses time!) , remember to tick off outfits/key shots as you go ! 📸👊🏼 If you nail the shoot and the deliverables with time to spare, don’t be afraid to experiment if you have any energy left and the models/athletes fancy it 🙌🏼🚀 #brandphotographerdubai #fitnessphotographerdubai #dubaiphotographer #fitnessbrand #aybl 2023-08-03 20:49:18 .. 388 -40% 41 +29%

Some midweek motivation 👊🏼 (READ👇🏼) Over the years (I’m nearly 37!) , I’ve found my progression in life has always happened in the area that I’m ALL IN on, sometimes at the detriment of others. More recently I try to focus on one area, whilst still being mindful to not let everything else fall out of balance. I find that trying to improve all areas at once is often overwhelming and nothing really improves or goes backwards ! In 2020/2021 for example I focused so heavily on growing my business and working every hour I could, but my health and personal life took a back seat. In 2022 my focus was to get a better balance with work and personal life/relationship & health, whilst maintaining the growth, which I managed fairly well. My goals for this year are to continue push the business further and be more present on socials whilst maintaining the strong foundations that I’ve built in other areas of my life. After all if we don’t continue to level ourselves up, we will forever be stuck in the same place, and that’s not fulfilling. My log colour grading process from Slog3 to final pushed look shot on Sony a7siii🎥👊🏼 This is a heavy dramatic grade to suit a high energy fitness edit with teal shadows and highlights to contrast skin tone 💪🏼 1. Firstly, make sure your image is well balanced in terms of exposure, white balance & hue. Use the scopes and RGB parade to check this if in doubt. 2 . Use a colour space transform from your camera manufacturer (or create your own on lutcalc) to go from log>rec709 image. 3 . Modify contrast and HSL curves to taste and push towards a starting look. 4. Use colour wheels to amplify the look and make sure skin tone is accurate using qualifiers or HSL secondary 5. Add sharpening and vignette if needed/desired. This is a my standard colour grading process regardless of project.
